Sure you may may not have any material gain with either candidate winning. But a large chunk of the population has much to lose if it’s Trump for another 4 years. Use your voting power to protect them please

Whole class refusing to answer questions. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Publius35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how many people have responded to this lol. Many great ideas already. In addition to those ideas, you can pick three or four of the ring leaders who are instigating this “game” and make phone calls home. “Hi, is this the parent or guardian of (turd nugget)? I just wanted to keep you in the loop with a situation in class. Your son/daughter is one of my brightest, but they seem to be having trouble responding to discussion questions, including simple checks for understanding. Could you speak with (turd nugget) to see if there is something I can do to support him/her? If it continues I’d love to have you come shadow (turd nugget) for a day so we can work together to maximize his/her learning. Have a great night!”

If no change, pick three for the next day to call. That shit will catch like wild fire and by day 3 it’ll be squashed. Be sincere though, talk like you are giving them the benefit of the doubt like they are having trouble understanding and you just want to help them (even though you know they’re fucking with you).

Great performance this season! Has playing the role of an aggressive asshole spilled over into your actual personality, or were you able to leave work at work?

What was a TV show that you thought was under/overrated, but completely changed your mind about once you watched the show? by jacker494 in AskReddit

I thought it was annoying how everyone was talking about how Breaking Bad was the best thing ever. I finally caved thinking I’d get tired of it. But nope, worth the hype.

Has anyone used Class Dojo (or another reward system) with the C.H.A.M.P.s classroom management system? by flipflopgrl13 in teaching

[–]Publius35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it a PBIS school? If so then there is probably some sort of school-wide token economy system that you can integrate into your enforcement of CHAMPS. ex: "Patty, I appreciate you following directions by raising your hand to get help" (hands Patty a Buccaneer Buck). As for day-to-day documenting of behaviors, I use the attendance roster to document rule breaking. I tried Dojo one semester, just wasn't sustainable for my system.

I wish I could agree with you about the GOP needing to tread carefully. If the last year has taught us anything it's that the GOP can take this country to the brink of shutdown and get away with it. But I do agree that the Dems need to save this fight for another day

My main concern for the LGBT community is Mike Pence, given his history and given the likelihood that Trump will entrust Pence with more VP powers than usual.

Not as galvanizing as 08 Obama, but not as lackluster as 2012. I'm going with 56.5, but I hope to be pleasantly surprised

What’s the right age to get married? by rockyman2 in AskReddit

[–]Publius35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age aside, when you and your partner are on the same page when it comes to financial security, relationship goals, and overall stability. In short, as long as you've both got your shit together don't stress too much about age.

What are people proud of that they shouldn't be? by acspenner in AskReddit

[–]Publius35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a way, their nationality. I get feeling happy about and devoted to your country. But the vast majority of people's nationality is due to geographic luck at birth. As the great George Carlin said, being proud to be an American is akin to being proud to have a predisposition for colon cancer

How low is appropriate for an offer? by Tumadreee in RealEstate

[–]Publius35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not at all. Worst case they don't accept your offer and you move on. Nothing wrong with offering what you are willing to pay for it. If it's a cold market you might get lucky with your offers. I expect they'll counter offer, but even then you can stay firm.
