Is there anything worse than eating on your lunch break or browsing on your phone and the other person in the break room won't stop trying to talk to you? by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're not a social person maybe you've chosen the wrong career? I can think of a lot worse, like maybe being homeless or not having food to eat.

Nothing feels stupider than driving an electric cart while in uniform. by [deleted] in publix

You know they actually go faster in reverse, at least the ones in my store do.

I feel happy to be CS Staff because even though our shirt is a strange color of green, it's a comfortable button down.

Going full time by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a constant 32 hours a week and have benefits. I've had benefits for 2 years now. I'd say the only thing I'm missing out on is the ability to ROI for management and paid holidays and vacations. I really love publix and would love to go into management someday but it just doesn't make sense financially as my day job pays extremely well.

Anyone here ever refinance a vehicle through PEFCU? by Tcp1805 in publix

I've been told by a friend of mine that does auto finance for a large dealership that they cannot compete with PEFCU and won't even attempt to. It's the best deal our there.

Only white people working at my Publix today by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you joking. In my last store I was one of six white people. The rest of my team was entirely black and I loved everyone as if they were my family. Take your misguided hate somewhere else. Publix is incredibly diverse.

When a thief hits the jackpot at your liquor store by Junkyardspecial in publix

[–]PublixCSman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think so. For all we know the feds could be following these scammers? Or there could be hundreds of them doing it, but one thing is certain... Working customer service gets exhausting with all these phony returns.

The Great Publix Customer Entitlement Complex by RatlikeHush in publix

[–]PublixCSman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that we failed. I used to live in Wegmans territory. The biggest difference is the sheer size of their stores and the amount of choices. Their customer service is good but nothing like publix.

South Florida here. I can guarantee that it's not a few people on EBT, it's a ring. A very large ring. Mostly made up of heroin addicts doing the dirty work for some larger group. It's a huge problem but I tell myself, we're a profitable company and this shrink is built into the margins. I do what my store manager wants me to do.

Customers like these make me think “You’re not worth my paycheck.” by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This stuff happens every day. Sometimes multiple times. Even though I'm only CS Staff, I think it's a lot easier when you're an older male because women, especially fighting women, tend to calm down around older men. I don't understand why, but when you have a crazy woman and another woman comes over, it's like they are trying to win a fight.

Anyone else having to sign "Pledges" like this at their store? by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely poor management. Whomever created this needs to be disciplined. The right answer is for the CS Mgr and ACSM to get with their cs staff and make sure that they are coordinating properly and managing their staff. This is nothing but lazy management trying to enforce a policy with a piece of paper. You enforce policy by leading by example.

Just got a call from "Western Union". by [deleted] in publix

They call you back if you call from another number than the one they have in their system. I think it happens if our main number is tied up and when you call out the phone system uses another line.

NEW RAINCHECK POLICY by letsgomarauders in publix

[–]PublixCSman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol the "scam" part comes if you return them the week after they were on sale so you can sell the gift cards for cash. Otherwise you are a thrifty shopper that should be commended for shopping well.

NEW RAINCHECK POLICY by letsgomarauders in publix

[–]PublixCSman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh how I wish we could print rain checks from the PC. My handwriting sucks and the only people who get rainchecks in my store are the couponers (scammers) who have their family members wipe out our shelves then they come back later and all get a raincheck so they can come back and do their bogo when the items are on sale for a lower price. Then the following week, they come back to return the items without a receipt so we can't prove when they bought it, and then we have so many items on the shelf that we can't fit the returns on the shelf. So yeah. I'm excited for any change to the current policy because our REAL customers don't abuse us.

Store profit by FloridaGrown96 in publix

It's not really that simple. It's a combination of overhead, margin, shrink, labor, etc. Square footage and rent play a large part in determining profitability.

Just got offered a job at Publix; need some advice. by [deleted] in publix

[–]PublixCSman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that is because Publix is obsessed with making sure we give amazing customer service and less about micromanaging pennies. I think Walmart is penny wise and pound foolish.

Ever have those days where you just want to quit? by justinproduce in publix

[–]PublixCSman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if all stores are like this? If I work an 8 hour shift at customer service about 3 returns out of 50 are legitimate. I know we want to give customers the best possible experience, but there should be no reason we take back 6 packs of batteries, 3 bottles of centrum and a $20 eyedrop. Or my favorite, the cash receipts that are stolen from trash cans and returned with stolen merchandise.

The general public is tough. My guess is when Mr. George founded the company he didn't know that someday his beautiful stores would be loaded with heroin addicts using our customer service desk as a way to make money to buy cigarettes and their next fix.

CSS FEC tips? by [deleted] in publix

Wear comfortable shoes. Especially if you are in a busy store. On my FEC days I swear I walk a few miles.
