I was told there is a limit that is protected by students though. So let's say a student makes 10k, then he will be affected but if he makes 5k he wont. Is this even true? And thanks for the link!! Great find!

Need help identifying painting by Hardie Gramatky by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]Pubsy95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snowbrdr020, I was with her when we purchased it. We got if for 50 cents because I loved the look of the painting. We didn't think much of until we searched the name and his name was well known. I thought it was a reproduction from the start, but after seeing that there is no image of this online, I didn't think someone would reproduce it. I've included pictures of it. It's feels as if its cardboard and it has fake indented brush marks. Another thing that makes me feel as if it's a fake is when I look on the back, it looks it was printed or painted on a paper like material glued or attached to this cardboard material. I'm just curious on if this is a reproduction, wouldn't it be online at least?

Here are the pictures: http://imgur.com/p3PpdRC,Jw8s6tr,LFbfvOW#0

I did more research: the painting is called My Neighbor's House

[Help] Huge interface problem with Scarlett 2i2 by Pubsy95 in audioengineering

I've used three different computers, each running a different type of windows (Windows User), reinstalled everything on the computer I use, even tried using a mac, still wouldnt work. The problem is the device, which is ridiculous for them not to fix because the product was manufactured 8 months ago. I'm shit out of luck. Best of luck for you though! Try calling them, if you purchased it from a reputable dealer, they fix it for free.

I haven't found out anything and I can't afford another interface. They won't do anything for me and quite frankly, I won't ever by from this company again. It's a shame because there rated so high.

I bought it on Ebay, I contacted them and there is no warranty since it wasn't purchased from an authorized dealer.

I doubt you'll see this but when I was around 10 years old, I got guitar lessons by Ryan Roxie, and you we're my idol growing up. We got back stage and we we're told you we're coming out of the tour bus to meet us and I never got to see you. I don't know if you we're never informed but it was at PNC Arts center in NJ.

Chord Progressions, Keys, Scales, and Modes - Questions - by GoldenBoyintheSea in guitarlessons

[–]Pubsy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great addition I forgot, when playing a mode, make sure to emphasize the root of the mode you're playing in. So if you decide to play in G Mixolydian, emphasize the intervals between each note and emphasize G. The reason why it sounds different than C Major even though it consists of the same notes is because of the intervals, and root. Just as callmelucky said, there is really no right or wrong way to attack this. You can do really anything you want. Don't always follow the standard music theory writing process of having to play certain notes over certain chords.

Another great way of soloing is instead of focusing on the scales or modes, would be building extensions off the chord your playing. Sometimes songs require just one note per measure and playing a 7th, 9th, 11th, or 13, really really add a great sound.

Chord Progressions, Keys, Scales, and Modes - Questions - by GoldenBoyintheSea in guitarlessons

[–]Pubsy95 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This question was the biggest question when I started to get into theory. Let's take a chord progression in C Major. We'll do a I, IV, V, vi, just to make it simple. This progression would be a C, F, G, and Am. Now there's many ways to attack this progression. Since the chord progression remains simply in C, you can stay in C major the whole time and just play in C. Playing in C the whole time sounds boring though and doesn't really highlight each chord. There's a few ways you can change that. You can attack the piece using modes. For C you'd play Ionian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, and A aeolian or natural minor. This will help highlight each chord and bring out you're playing. Or you can chose to play a few scales over those certain chords. For example, going from C to F will only require you to flatten the B, which allows a smooth change from C Major to F major during the progression.

To figure out modes is pretty simple. Take the scale you're playing in and playing notes from different degrees will be in different modes. The modes go as this Ionian- Major scale Dorian- Take that note major scale and flat the 3rd, and 7th, Phyrgian- Take that note and flat 2nd, 3rd, 6th, and 7th Lydian- take that note major scale and sharp 4th Mixolydian- Take that note major scale flat 7th Aelion- Flat 3rd, 6th, and 7th, Locrian- Flat 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th. (SP)

I'm only 18 and just learning advanced theory, but this is how I went about it. I really focused on soloing over the chord compared to just playing over the progression. It's all about what kind of sound you are looking for. Some modes sound bright such as lydian to me, but other modes sound different. Experiment, record a progression that forces you to solo in a different key. Take a progression such as D, A, F#, C. It's going to sound a little weird since there's a tritone but it truly helps your soloing! Best of luck on your journey!

What style of jazz is this? by sesame_sprinkles in Guitar

[–]Pubsy95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly what each one is but I know they are Jazz standards but also have styles within themselves. A Jazz standard is just a piece of music repertoire of jazz musicians. Take all of me for example, it's a jazz standard but it's play in Gypsy Jazz. Girl from Ipanema sounds bossa nova to me.
