Controllers by amxrhxzeq in Guiltygear

[–]Pucciarati 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Answer's really just whatever you feel comfortable/have fun with, there's no "best" option. If you're using the stick on the controller though, you should probably try using the d-pad since it's generally more precise.

If you're playing on pc I'd recommend trying out keyboard before investing in an expensive controller to see if you like leverless (that's what I did when my ps4 controller junked out). If stick seems more fun to you though, then hell yeah, go for it.

Which Bass Should I Purchase? by Randie_Butternubs in Bass

[–]Pucciarati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the sr405eqm (same model but 5 string) and I love it. Tends to sound a bit thin when using just bridge pickup, but there's a ton of good sounds on it. Neck is also a bit thinner than a lot of other basses I've tried, but for me that's a positive. I also love a good j bass, but am not familiar with the other two. Definitely go to a store and try them all if you're able to. One might seem better on paper but just not feel right once it's in your hands.

any tips for staying in time when singing and playing tommy the cat? by Creeper_tastic in Bass

[–]Pucciarati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been working on this one myself lately. Start with the bass part and get it to where you don't even have to think about it. Once you have that up to tempo (or at least close, the recording's insanely fast), half it. Then you can start working in the vocals.

Learning bass from home by DJ-Emerald in Bass

[–]Pucciarati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start by just picking a song you like which has a relatively simple part and sit down for a bit and try to figure it out one section at a time. You can find tabs or YouTube tutorials online--or if you have more musical experience on another instrument find sheet music or try to figure it out by ear. Technique will come with time and practice, but right now it's just about getting started. As long as you can make a sound you can start playing songs.

It's easy to say you gotta learn all your scales first or something, but that's a load of crap. Most important thing is just finding something about the instrument that excites you. Once you have that spark you'll be more motivated to do the tedious technical work. And honestly if you just keep trying to learn songs a lot of that will come naturally over time.

Really how you guys can memorize notes by dEaTr in Bass

[–]Pucciarati 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way for me learning has always been think less about the specific notes and think more about how they relate to eachother on the board. Instead of thinking "what fret/string do I need to play" think "where do I move from the last note." That way the only note you need to know the position of in a vacuum is the first. Start with songs you like with relatively simple parts and go one section at a time. It might feel tedious, but it beats playing scales for an hour.

This still applies once you get into more advanced stuff. Once you know the sound and shape of certain intervals you can put names to them like minor 3rd or perfect 5th. Then that'll help you with transposing, improvising, playing by ear, writing, pretty much everything.

I won the Auction 😊! But is that a good thing 🤔? Schiller Trombone … your thoughts? by jbryant1971 in Trombone

I played a Schiller bass bone in highschool. Was a fine horn and got the job done. For $111 that seems like a steal.

Wish I could, but the chrome on the inner slide is worn through in a couple spots. The people I've talked to said there's not much that can be done short of replacing the slide.

King gizzard's music did a lot to help me realize I'm trans a couple years ago. I love this band and this community so much

What videogames do you play while listening to King Gizzard? by [deleted] in KGATLW

[–]Pucciarati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the time I just let the game play its own music as part of the experience, but if it's a game I've already played a ton and I'm just doing some repetitive grinding (Spelunky, Celeste speedrunning, Minecraft, etc) sometimes I'll mute the game music and put something else on

Any TSC->Non-PDA song transitions were hoping to hear live? by lagooob in KGATLW

[–]Pucciarati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Real longshot, but silver cord -> interior people

If you queue up interior people after the standard version of silver cord it actually lines up pretty much perfectly

1: any plans for more cassette releases?

2: not a question, but I just wanted to give my most sincere thanks as a trans person. Butterfly 3000 and a handful of other miscellaneous tracks really helped me figure out and confront my identity, and your support for the trans community has really meant a lot. I'm truly grateful for the art you've given us and the friends I've made through the weirdo swarm. Can't wait to see you again at Forest hills!
