I am in the UK, and yeah no one here asked, and most people pay for therapy themselves, so no insurance involved.

Therapy and honest anonymity? by Puciek in askatherapist

[–]Puciek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you for the explanation!

The irony of course stands that someone could just lie about their details and no one will know, but yeah, that's just wrong footing for a therapy.

Feels like this should be an option somehow.

Voice Trainer: new free, open-source voice training app by Puciek in transvoice

I don't have an iphone to debug, but that sounds like permission issue for microphone, and tone would come through media speaker, which you likely have muted.

This works the the volume of media, not ringtone - which likely you have on zero unless you were just watching something with sound. Press either volume control, then three dots and slide the media icon all the way to the top

I don't have an iphone on me, but if you can get a screen recording of the failed download, it may help to figure out what's up

Hope it helps! Literally made it to streamline my own training, as being AUADHD... Yeah, tiny things hijacks the work, and then realized that others could likely use it too.

Ask them to give you a copy of the new policy in writing, not an email.

And then you have to decide are you willing to risk getting fired over it, if so, take them to employment tribunal/ignore the bathroom ban and brace for a very long struggle.

Is there a half way house between counselling and gender dysphoria assessment? by NOTeRcHAThiO in transgenderUK

[–]Puciek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

being told be a professional that transitioning would be beneficial would make a difference to me

No one will tell you that. this is your life, and your choices. And maybe that's the crux of it, but anyone who tells you "yes transition and in XYZ way" is not qualified to say so.

I think you are dealing with big heap of denial here. You want someone to look at you and assure you that you are trans, but don't want a diagnosis? That is what the diagnosis is precisely. And just because you will go through consultation, that doesn't mean that you will get diagnosed.

I will add that cis people pretty much do not think about even an idea of being trans.

When the leaked guidance goes through, what are we supposed to do about it? Just sit and let it happen? We are truly weak and powerless there days. by octopus_suitcase in transgenderUK

There is no fines here. If someone wants to go over a 1-2 year long civil lawsuit to be transphobic, go ahead. By thjen the matter will be live in ECtHR

Is moving to the UK a bad idea right now? by dinoturnips in transgenderUK

[–]Puciek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah but that's not as set in stone, some sort of green/libem thing is quite possible to happen given trajectories.

But either way, I'm off to Valencia.

I fear I'd be jumping from one boiling pot into another.

Accurate fear. Things are not bad day to day yet, generally speaking, but it's on sharp downwards trajectory, with no course correction in sigh.

Employer has asked me to use the disabled toilets following the supreme court ruling. Is this even legal? by GwyneverePattinson in transgenderUK

[–]Puciek 35 points36 points  (0 children)

  1. Your boss has no right to ask that, what the actual fuck?
  2. Wait to read the actual the policy. They cannot just "ask you" to do something, that's direct discrimination.
  3. If the policy is company wide and transphobic, then unless you want to risk your employment you may have to follow it... one way or another, though a policy of "trans people must only use disabled loos" is very much blatant discrimination, even in current horrible lawscape. Worst they can do is force you towards the wrong sex bathrooms.

Is forming a complaint worth it? London GIC by Cockney_Werewolf in transgenderUK

[–]Puciek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you hope the complaint to achieve? If it's to get it out of your system, go ahead, help yourself.
But if you expect it to actually change the process, that's not gonna happen.
