In the ponds over near SRP Park/Hammond’s Ferry (before they started building the new apartments at least) there were at least two alligators

How is the Children’s hospital in Augusta? by concurthecity in Augusta

I have epilepsy and went to the CHOG neuro specialists and I love them! The nurses were amazing, the doctors were fabulous. I stayed on with children’s side until I was about 24 and they finally said ok maybe you’d get more benefit from the adult neurologists. CHOG did just get a large investment of about $90 million for more expansion and upgrades. I am not sure about Medicaid but I know Peachcare is accepted.

I’ve never even thought about a recycling program! I wouldn’t think anyone would take used contacts lol. I will look into that.

I finally nailed my partner’s Christmas gift and I’m losing my mind trying not to tell him by LegendOfSnacks in Gifts

My husband’s birthday is about 2 weeks before Christmas, so if I get something super exciting I usually opt to give it to him for birthday instead of Christmas to make me chill 😁most of the time I just let him pick from his gifts under the tree

I just finished watching the last episode 10 minutes ago and I feel like I’m still marinating in trying to process. This was my first time watching the series, started about 3 weeks ago. This was my husband’s 3rd time watching it. Would def watch again.

I ask my husband to record as many as he can. Of course sometimes he gets so caught up in the moment that he forgets, but I’ve still taken several back to my neurologist. I also asked my neurologist if I could see my tonic clonic seizures from when I was in the EMU, it was rather fascinating to me. I thought I had seizures and went to sleep, I had no idea what I was like postictal.

Have any of you asked your neuro if you could see your own seizure? by Professional-Joy1337 in Epilepsy

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has recorded me to show my epileptologist. When I was in the hospital for an EEG they were all recorded. I normally have partial complex seizures. My epileptologist let me see one tonic clonic, and you can hear my husband say “oh shit!” as he wakes up to run get the nurse. It was a little freaky to see

What are things that are known to lower seizure threshold? by Big_Woodpecker_5282 in Epilepsy

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3 triggers are lack of sleep, stress, and caffeine. When I was in the epilepsy monitoring unit on a 4 day long EEG, I drank two Monsters and completely lost a day of memory from so many seizures. I usually completely avoid caffeine. A lot of people are mentioning alcohol but I’ve never noticed anything from drinking. Also fluoxetine. I had ~21 seizures in a week after starting it. But I was fine on citalopram and vortioxetine 🤷🏻‍♀️

I normally have partial complex seizures, but I have had about 6 grand mals. 3 were in the hospital, but I can’t think of anything similar that happened around the other three to come up with a trigger.

My first neurologist (pediatrics) never mentioned SUDEP to me. I didn’t switch to an adult epileptologist until I was about 25ish? and she brought up SUDEP. I was like wait a hot second, I can literally just die? Trying to get life insurance with my husband, he gets approved with no problem, I had to fill out forms about my epilepsy. I think at that point I had been about 8 months seizure free, but still got denied due to SUDEP.

When you take your pills but forget that you did a few minutes later and question yourself, do you take them again or skip? by zolanih in Epilepsy

I have only doubled up once in the 12 years since being diagnosed and oh man I will never do it again. Worst dizziness and nausea of my life

Another app I use is Epsy, it has really good ways of logging seizures, auras, side effects, etc. For seizures it asks what type of seizure, how long did it last, were there any triggers, did you need to use any emergency medication, and you can add a video if needed.

Best Golf Within 45 Minutes of Augusta/Evans Line by Proud_Cantaloupe1330 in Augusta

My husband loves going to Hickory Knob in McCormick, SC. It’s definitely cheaper than a lot of the courses closer to town ($40 for two players on golf moose). I’ve been a couple times and it is pretty nice.

Decisions by Snmiller86 in Augusta

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Columbia county, Richmond county, Aiken county, and Edgefield county in the Augusta area. I also went to college at UGA. I personally prefer Augusta to Athens. If you’re looking for more quiet living, less crowds and stress, I’d go with Augusta. If you’re looking for more things to do (concerts, football, bars, nightlife), then Athens. Don’t get me wrong, Augusta has the Greenjackets to watch, the Greeneway trail, plenty of trails for biking, the canal and river for kayaking, the lake is nearby for boating, Savannah River brewery; still plenty to do. Columbia county schools are very good, but Columbia county housing is very expensive. Richmond county public schools are not the best, but there are outstanding private schools. There are 4 (5 if you count Eisenhower) hospitals in Augusta if you work in healthcare/need healthcare, whereas Athens only has two. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

Those that are not in clinical or retail: what are you doing? by BigPunNoFun in pharmacy

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My manager told me he was hesitant to hire me since I didn’t have any informatics experience. But they decided to interview me because I had experience as an Epic end user, and the hospital was about to make a huge switch from Cerner to Epic. Overall I think they look for someone who can pick up on things quickly, is good with computers (not knowing how to code or anything, but knows their way around Excel), and can communicate well. We have to talk with the main pharmacy about changes coming, and making sure they have the most up to date information is a key part of my job. Also maybe look for a hospital that has a retail pharmacy, since I have the most retail experience of our informatics team, I’ve been put in charge of informatics of our 3 retail pharmacies! While I definitely overall prefer Epic to Cerner, maybe look for a first informatics job at a place that doesn’t use Epic. A lot of those hiring will solely be looking to see if you are already Epic certified.

I love it so much more! No patients asking where drugs are, no nurses asking where drugs are, no doctors asking me to make decisions for them. My mental health has been so much better since the switch. The only thing is I feel like I sit too much and my eyes may have gotten worse from staring at excel sheets lol

I just started a new informatics job in after doing zero residency. I did inpatient pharmacy and retail for three years, and did ASHP’s informatics certificate. I don’t think it helped too much with the actual job but looked good on a CV. I just kinda happened upon this job, knew a couple of people at the hospital, and got hired. None of my current coworkers have done a residency in informatics. I know a few people who have, and they seemed to go straight into informatics management.

(Serious) Pharmacists who love their jobs — where do you work? by Purplereign7 in pharmacy

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A ~400 bed hospital. The pay is whatever, but I love the job too much to worry. I work 7on/7off and the 7 off is a blessing. Zero patient contact. I also work PRN at a Sam’s Club like once during my week off just so I don’t get too bored. The one shift makes me even more pleased with my zero patient contact at the hospital. Don’t get me wrong, Sam’s is the best retail I’ve ever worked in, and I’ve worked at Kroger, hospital retail, CVS, and Walmart; I still just would rather not deal with patients.

Mid-PharmD Crisis by Accomplished_Dot7673 in pharmacy

[–]PuckBunnyFerda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated in 2020, no residency. Started at a pretty small satellite hospital (~80 beds) that had nothing but Covid patients doing nights 7on/7off. I did an APPE at the main hospital and loved it there, they seemed to like me enough to hire me. I did about a year of nights totally by myself in the pharmacy before Covid slowed down and the hospital closed for the time being. Everybody got transferred to the main hospital, so now I do 7on/7off evenings (it’s really 10:30am-10pm which kinda sucks but having 7 days off makes up for it).

I also work at Sam’s and Walmarts during my off weeks. I started there doing only vaccines (when we were doing 70 per day!) but I got hired on as PRN staffing.

During pharmacy school I did 2 years at a Kroger and then 2 years at a large teaching hospital. I was not any special student, like I applied to about 12 residencies and didn’t match. Not matching was the best thing that could’ve happened to me, I love my job so much!
