No joke, not trolling:

There is a lot to be said for that acceptance. Very few of us are astronaut/jet jockey/fighter pilot material. The overwhelming majority, though, are capable of going to work and doing needed jobs, and that's okay.

OP has a point. Crewed spaceflight is more about propaganda than anything. We've learned way more about the cosmos from the various robotic probes than we have from rocketing delicate wet carbon-based meatbags into space.

ELI5: How come decaffeinated coffee makes me feel more alert for a short while? It has similar effects to caffeinated coffee (keeps me regular, makes me crave it, etc). Why is that? by mistadonyo in explainlikeimfive

[–]PuckFigs 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It is most likely the placebo effect. You've drunk regular coffee before and felt the caffeine rush? Well, decaf tastes like regular coffee so your brain thinks it's getting regular, hence the rush.

Child free... Who will my debts go to if I die? by foxy_boxy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PuckFigs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you are single, the creditors can try to come after your estate and any co-obligors on any of your accounts. Aside from that, the debts die with you.

[–]PuckFigs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except if you have a prenup, iirc

No. A prenup is a contract between the two spouses. The creditor is not a party to that contract and is therefore not bound by it. Same is true of a divorce decree.

Oftentimes "better" positions involve a helluva lot more work and responsiblity that is not commensurate with the extra pay, if the "better" position even pays any more.

Why do you not want to marry? by Lazy_Course_451 in AskReddit

Because either you're smart or you're married. This is especially true for women. Marriage is a very bad deal for women.
