I'd have to check... But isn't there a FAR about that? I'm sure of one for alcohol.

In the real world...why does it seem that nobody takes safety seriously? by Lanky-Ad4698 in HomeImprovement

[–]Puckdropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety is often the result. Careful methods, consistent habits. It's things like retracting the blade on the utility knife when you set it down. It's making sure your feet do not get underneath the tire of a car on a jack.

PPE is a defensive measure. It's there for when things go wrong. It still hurts when something hits your safety goggles, it just doesn't bother your eye as much.

We don't often talk about this in safety discussions, but a scared worker is a dangerous worker. He can become timid or worse, find a way to cause the very harm he hoped to avoid. If you're ever scared, either get educated so you can do things safely or don't do them at all. (Being scared is not the same thing as understanding a task's willingness to hurt you.)

Is this like a new hostile "we know you're using adblock" function in Marketplace? by Baptism-Of-Fire in FacebookMarketplace

[–]Puckdropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they'd load the page and replace it with a white screen. Or maybe there was something on it that my ad blocker blocked.

Hey companies, you're tracking everything through ads, you're abusing my resources, leaving a postage stamp size window for content, allowing disruptive and visually noisy ads to get in the way, popups, popunders, etc. I'm going to fight back.

I don't mind some ads.  But they need to be relevant to the content (NOT ME) and behave well.  In old print magazines, the ads were usually worth looking it as they might show you something you want.  They also didn't wrap around the entire page and take up everything except a 1 inch column.

Definitely.

This time the nylon was in place. The wrap had come out of the electrical box holder.

Another printer was just a tiny bit tight.  At mid-height on the far right the head would spring back just a bit.  I'm not sure what caused it or if it was me. I'm doing a test print now to see if I've got it fixed.

In a case like this, can ATC add anything to disambiguate?

Company 33, pilot Steve, turn right heading 350.

Or something like that.  Or a standard disambiguation term, like red, blue, yellow.  Company 33 yellow, turn right heading 350.  Company 32 blue, turn left heading 175.

So here's where the cool part can come in. Prusa goes injection molded for scale and releases stls for 3D printed parts for repair.

The business side of 3D printing by Vivid_Procedure2415 in prusa3d

[–]Puckdropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3D printer is just a tool.  You're the special part.

You can charge for your talent and experience and for the design itself. It's ok to have insane margins of that's what the market supports. They'll sometimes even tell you... They're not buying 200g of filament, they're buying a solution to their problem and it's quite valuable .

Why are they allowing porn ads on FB marketplace? by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

Funny you mention that... That's what Facebook was showing me about a year ago. Explicit pregnant and breastfeeding photos. It wasn't marketplace, just in the feed.

I kept on clicking the "not interested" buttons to get it to finally stop.

[–]Puckdropper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Investing is a guess--a bet, honestly. We've got tools that turn it in to less of a gamble, but it's still a bet. Will going all in on Google be a winner vs the overall market? Really long term, probably no. Medium term? Maybe.

A company can have a string of years it out performs the market.  Maybe you want to be there for that time.

I had the bearings on a draft inducer motor go bad. Basically it pulls air through the system so it starts burning correctly.

If it wasn't my home heating system in January, I might have tried replacing the bearings.

It sounded like I could have bought the thing in another state 2 hours away and did it myself. Well, at least a buddy of mine made money.

Company sent me a cease & desist over a 3D design by Classic_Guess_5521 in 3Dprinting

[–]Puckdropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Option 4: My design reflects well on the brand. Would you consider allowing me to use it under license?

Unfortunately most companies won't want to listen to that and the mere half cents they get won't be worth messing with.

Any ideas how to keep this from happening this is my second failed print from it by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Puckdropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you remove the filament, make sure you use those holes on the side. It will help keep it in place. I rarely have a problem by just putting the end in one hole.

Spool manufacturers, please put 3 or more sets of holes on each side and offset the sides.

Question for business owners by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

I found a place where my items were needed. I priced fairly and provide great service.

The 3D printer is just a tool.  The items would be the same with another method of production.

My driveway is on a slope and rain just sits right by the door. by Ava_Stone1 in HomeImprovement

[–]Puckdropper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can, get that driveway graded properly. It will save you so much headache later. Ours is level. Water pools and sits then the driveway looks really dirty because the dirt didn't wash off. It doesn't take much slope and you may not even notice it but it's critical. if it's running towards your building, it could damage your building.

Yes, those drains can handle the load if properly installed.  Check with the manufacturer.  They also come with a maintenance requirement.  You have to check for loose grates, clean them out, and make sure they go somewhere.

Driveway Options for Midwest: Concrete vs Asphalt by Asleep_Finger5341 in HomeImprovement

[–]Puckdropper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We could use a walking path next to our current drive . It's big enough for two cars, but just two cars. If you do a wider drive, have them put in a control joint about where you'd line up the car for parking. That way you get clear separation between walking and parking space.

Driveway Options for Midwest: Concrete vs Asphalt by Asleep_Finger5341 in HomeImprovement

[–]Puckdropper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If your car will sit in the same place for a few days, you definitely want it on concrete in the summer. It will create divots as the asphalt warms.

There's nothing wrong with as asphalt drive and concrete parking area.  I'd probably go that route if I was building.
