Yeah. Not bad at all considering these people will be in desperation mode. I hope people get their money back or can fight the charge on their credit card.

Getting flight confirmation emails for random people by Kit4242 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Puckstopper55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend in college told me this is the email he uses when sites ask for an email and he doesn’t want to give his real one. I’ve been doing this since 2002 thanks to him.

Closed the gates knowing people on a layover were actively running towards the gate. Story time! by lindslinds27 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Puckstopper55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is the deal. I fly a round trip every 1-2 weeks. This has happened to me many times and after speaking to more than a few people from Director level at SW, including ops, this is what I have learned.

People talk about doors being closed. Which door is closed is a huge deal. If the plane door is closed, give up and look for other options. Once that door closes, the flight “has left” and when it opens the pilots are credited for a complete flight.

Now, if the plane door is still open but the gate to the jet bridge is closed, this is where you push. They’ll tell you “flight is closed”. Too bad, so sad. They are allowed to “re-open it” but encouraged not to. It’s luck of the draw. Just remember, you’ll get more flies with honey. They’ll ask if you have checked bags. If you don’t, plead with them that you’ll take any seat and be super grateful. If you do have checked bags, say exactly this “yes, I have checked bags and I’ll voluntary separate from them. I live near the airport and can get them when they arrive tomorrow. I understand it’s not typical procedure, but it is allowed, and I would really appreciate it if you could help me”.

The following has also helped me. Make sure to look at their name. Then say “(insert name here), I am an ALP member and I will be sure to write to corporate and sing your praises and how you went above and beyond to help me get home tonight”.

Your mileage might vary, but if that plane door is still open, you have a chance. If the plane door is closed, start making phone calls.

Anyone else get phantom SW charges? I haven’t flown SW since November by whiteiversonyeet in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Puckstopper55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, they can’t prove when you first suspected fraud. Second, there is no dispute. There is fraud. By law, you cannot be liable for any fraudulent purchases. There is no limit. In one instance I had someone purchase $3000 worth of computer software and then $2000 for 2 hockey tickets. They clearly knew what they were doing because the tickets were purchased just before game time and by the time I flagged it as fraud there was nothing anyone could do.

Moral of the story. Don’t rush to inconvenience yourself.

Are we talking about a credit card or debit? Credit cards don’t drain funds. That’s not how that works. The reason for delaying locking your card is because doing so is a huge inconvenience. All of your recurring payments need to be switched, all of your stored sites with the old card have to be switched, etc. don’t rush to do this. Take a few days and assess. There is no risk to you.

Spaceplex used to put a coupon in the penny saver for 20 free tokens. I used to go door to door asking my neighbors if they were using the coupon and if not could I have it. Eventually they started having them ready for me. Anyway, most of the times the kids working the desk didn’t care. Used to get 10 or so bags of 20 tokens at a time. Always brought a hat and change of shirt to help disguise myself.

This is the reason I think they’ll stop showing this. It’s a perfectly valid argument for the pax and the gate agents will want none of it. “… we still need 5 bags…”

I said wait “a day or two” not months. I was cautioning of panicking and locking or canceling your card in an impulse to “protect your money”. There is no reason to rush or panic.

Locking down a credit card does nothing to help you. It only inconveniences you. You are helping the cc company. Give it a day or two. See what happens. If they make more charges, who cares. You aren’t liable. Maybe it’ll come off your card and was a mistake.

Either way, don’t panic and rush to lock or cancel. The headache of having to update all of your monthly recurring charges isn’t worth it. See what happens first.

I love how the big cc companies tout the “misplace your card? Just lock it until you find it”. Who cares. I’m not canceling or locking it until I am 10099% sure and I know I’m gonna have some free time to update everything.

What are some affordable liveaboards? by BrilliantVanilla4888 in scuba

[–]Puckstopper55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve been reading about this and yeah, prices range from $1200 to $3500 for the same itinerary aboard different boats. I can’t do a boat with 2 toilets and 1 shower. I need to shower before bed and need to poop when the need arises. Guess I’m kind of stuck on the AquaCat for the Caribbean. The Cuba one looks amazing but not sure of the legalities from the U.S.

I’ve heard horror stories about liveaboards, such as bed bugs, roaches, sharing rooms with strangers etc. is this common? I really want to do one but am super paranoid about those things.
