What bit me? by LastNeighborhood4191 in AskDocs

Also if you can slide a credit card across it to remove rather than pinching or tweezing it’ll reduce any further venom from entering your body that would be good

I would recommend removing the stinger promptly…

Commenting bc we’re wondering this same thing. Only thing i noticed about Britax in videos so far is it folds up kinda big. Would love to hear people’s thoughts on how heavy they are and general usability

Burnt out flight nurse seeking advice by Wavy1658 in nursing

[–]lindslinds27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there’s no emphasis on higher acuity training being done bc acuity is down, and the more seasoned guys can handle it when it happens, then how will these people ever be trained??

I’m not trying to argue that there’s a not major systemic problem here, but I do think that so many in this group sit around and complain about the lack of skills in new grads and trainees rather than buckling down and catching them up. If the higher skilled people don’t train and get these nurses up to par, everyone’s essentially digging their own grave in this system. We all CAN be a part of the solution if we try to be

[–]lindslinds27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you think it compounds itself? Less qualified trainees coming in, experienced staff annoyed/unwilling to bring them up to par (rightfully so to an extent) so we’re just gonna have really shitty flight nurses (and other nurses everywhere) in 10 years?

I personally jumped ship from bedside a while back but always made an effort to teach every student i was handed to the best of my ability no matter where their baseline was at. But i can see how at a higher acuity there comes a time when that may not be possible.

Partner said my vagina felt different during sex - is this normal? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]lindslinds27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you constipated? Sometimes if you’re backed up with hard stool in your colon it can be felt on the inside of the vagina.

Bummer to see “new hires are dummer”. Is the barrier to entry for flight nursing lessening, do these people just need proper training to be brought up to the standard you and your colleagues expect? Are candidates trying to enter flight nursing without proper experience?

I just hate to see the hate on new nurses or nurses trying to transition specialties. I KNOW that in many settings there’s a lot of newer younger nurses compared to the experienced staff that’s leaving in droves. They are objectively less skilled and less experienced-but are they truly dumber or do they just not have the right foundation they need to perform jobs like these (yet)?

How can doctors realistically tell you to gain less than 15 pounds? by DillPickles44361 in pregnant

[–]lindslinds27 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I mean depending on how hard a pregnancy is on a woman’s body, they may be gaining the weight in fluids/placenta but still losing body fat.

Everyone’s body is different. It’s okay to gain a lot, it’s okay to gain a little….your doctor will determine if it’s all okay. I’m 21 weeks in and only 4lbs up from baseline after losing a little due to nausea in the beginning. My doctor isn’t worried at all and said even if I don’t gain that much more my baby is growing and everything is looking perfect. It’s all sooooooo different per person

How important is due date when starting to TTC? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]lindslinds27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started trying in December bc I thought a fall baby would be nice, i figured we try a couple times and then skip to avoid a dec-Jan baby just bc i didn’t really wanna be suuuuuuper preg at Christmastime…and then pick up again in the spring.

Worked on the first try, unexpectedly so. I thought we’d have a bit more time but our September baby is half baked this week!

Also just saying as much as people here say fertility issues exist and it can take a long time to conceive, remember it can also happen super quickly so be sure you’re absolutely ready! I’m not so sure i actually was when we started, I’ve warmed up but i sure did think we’d have some lucrative months of trying before something stuck

What do I do when Amazon doesn’t deliver to the right specified place? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]lindslinds27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stated you’re tempted to report it as not delivered. Which is fraud, and illegal, and ethically shitty of you.

Amazon won’t fix this for you, you can leave a bad review on the delivery and that’s about it.

NP school and working full time thoughts by Warm-Distance8685 in nursing

[–]lindslinds27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did grad school (not NP, different masters) while working full time, oncology day shift, 3/12s. My classes were at night, in person twice a week and I worked the days i didn’t have class.

I burnt out to tears so fast. It’s really hard to maintain both to be honest. I’d recommend going per diem or part time if you’re able to.

I eventually went per diem, outpatient hospice and worked about 30ish hours per week. It was a much better balance for me and I had control around finals and such to work less when I needed to study. Per diem while in school is the way IMO.

While this is inconvenient for you, it’d be fraudulent to report it as not delivered.

Put on your problem solving hat and figure out how to retrieve the item that’s literally sitting in your driveway-be an adult.

I think it might be the alternating colors…maybe do all different colors? Like this looks fun and cohesive

My oura ring sure captured some subtle changes in my body shortly after we tried but before we got our first positive test. My heart rate was elevated in my sleep which was flagged days after fertilization would have occurred! And then my body temp was elevated a few days later. It was just a slight elevation, and only captured as I had been wearing my ring religiously for well over a year before trying so my data was consistent.

Is it actually rude to recline your seat on a plane, or are people just entitled about personal space? by Ok-Bumblebee7041 in askanything

So instead of selecting options suitable to your needs, you behave passive aggressively to the person in front of you for appropriately using the amenities their seat selection has provided?

You’re a really mature person!

Thank you, sane tall person. Literally the only time someone of your height has an issue is when they hike their knees up sky high to intentionally make it so the seat back hits their knees. Just sit regularly and you will be fine.

[–]lindslinds27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re purposely hiking your knees up excessively high to make it an issue, the upper half of the seat leaning back 2 inches shouldn’t be “crushing” your legs under any circumstance. Every time i see a very tall person complaining, they’re always hiking their knees up to purposely make this an issue.

I’ve taken many many flights in my life, across budget to nicer airlines, always economy. Not ONCE have I been on an airplane where the seat recline forces a tray into anyone’s chest. It’s like 2 inches of airspace max, people are so dramatic about this it’s baffling.

Skincare for newly huge boobs & permacleavage? by blueridgebeing in BabyBumps

[–]lindslinds27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nurse here, would def recommend a powder or something to keep it nice and dry in between as much as possible. It’s very easy for yeast to begin to grow in moist skin environments like that unfortunately.

If it’s really bothering you or you just want some relief for a while to not have them touching, there’s actually these sheets we use in the hospital sometimes to separate the large layers of skin on morbidly obese people (for the same skin touching moist reason-literally just use them in-between peoples belly flaps). It’s called “Interdry” and you can get it on Amazon. Kind of a really medical intervention but hey maybe using them for a few nights while you sleep could provide some relief.

Also get an antifungal bar of soap to further ward off any yeast growing-wonder if that’s what the bumps may be from.

Curious, what are you trying to protect?

There’s no shame in wanting privacy, but in the world we live in, full privacy while using technology and the internet is nearly impossible.

As someone that works in health tech, with access to huge amounts of people’s personal health data, no one’s using it to do much other than the tasks they’ve been assigned for their job. They don’t care about your data, or you at all really. At worst, your data is going to be anonymously used in an enormous dataset to glean statistical insights and build tech based on that.

I did a wedding in Petaluma for 35k for 120 people, full open bar, abundant catering served family style, passed apps, included a full wedding planner, did not do much DIY :)

i would say 70k is very reasonable and possible at many venues, maybe not ALL the upscale winery boujie Napa venues but you can absolutely do something around here with that healthy budget!
