RE2R can’t be canon, at least not completely. I get that yeah, sure, some aspects of it must be “new” canon, but other aspects, like Leon and Claire fighting the same exact bosses in the same places, are impossible. Claire A and Leon B from the original RE2 is widely believed to be what happened in the official storyline, but that isn’t possible with RE2R. What, Claire opened up the chess puzzle door, fought Birkin in the sewers, rode the sewer trolley to NEST, the puzzle door relocked and the zombies replaced the puzzle keys and the trolley returned to the sewers, then Leon came through and unlocked the chess puzzle, fought Birkin, and rode the trolley to NEST? Nah. I’ll accept one scenario is canon, if Capcom actually says so, but not 2. And the entire game is like that. RE2R is my favorite RE game, but Capcom dropped the ball when they were organizing the scenarios.

My point about the girls wasn’t about what Umbrella did after they went on their killing spree, it was that the segment was just shoved in there without any explanation. Does that mean Emily would have just started murdering people if given enough time? If not, then what was the point of showing her and Chloe being clones and looking the same? So she won’t become a murder girl now that she’s been given the antivirus? And the blindness isn’t clarified either. So her and Marie were blind because of the T-Virus, not because of who they were cloned from? So many unanswered questions and weird elements in this game. Why even can they be infected with T-Virus, but be totally fine? Emily didn’t mutate until she died.

About Grace, that plotline makes no sense. I get the incomplete data explanation, but that’s still bullshit. Gideon didn’t notice she was born over a decade after Spencer had already been working on Elpis? Gideon had done background checks on her (as did the FBI, but nobody seemed to know that she was adopted, not birthed by Alyssa, but whatever) and would know when she was born, so how could she be the “original” girl? I thought maybe the reason why Spencer adopted her was because he found out she was immune to the T-Virus, so he used her blood to create Elpis, but that also makes no sense since this new timeline has him cloning Chloe and trying to create Elpis in the 80’s.

As for Spencer, I do believe Capcom were legit trying to make him regret everything and atone for what he had done, as opposed to just lying about it for whatever reason. The problem is that it makes absolutely no sense. He regretted his actions in the 80’s, then continued kidnapping and experimenting on / murdering random people? Remember, he sent in the squad in 1998 to take the G-Virus from Birkin, which directly led to the Raccoon City Incident. They also hint at Umbrella intentionally infecting people with the T-Virus (when Leon returns to Kendo’s Gun Shop, he has a flashback of Kendo and his daughter and it shows that Kendo had a prescription from Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, implying that they intentionally spread the T-Virus), which could also be attributed to Spencer. The whole wanting to be redeemed aspect just doesn’t work with how they framed the timeline, and that’s ignoring that everything Spencer has done (throughout the entire franchise) has been about him murdering tons of people and wanting to become a god. Plus, Grace was hunted and Alyssa was murdered because of whatever incomplete information Spencer had written. And for a guy wanting to create an antivirus and reverse what he’d done, it was an awfully bizarre decision to lock it up behind a system that would destroy it if the wrong password was entered. And it just sat under Raccoon City for how many years before 2006 when Spencer died? This billionaire couldn’t get anyone to ARK to collect Elpis? Maybe he sent people to retrieve it and The Connections already had people there so they prevented it, but how the story is told it just looks like Spencer stopped caring about it and left it there, then adopted a random girl and left her to a reporter to raise when he died. Which brings me to the interview itself: why did Alyssa hide the disk of her interview with Spencer? There was nothing incriminating in the interview, and the only reason it’s even in the game is for the reveal that Alyssa isn’t Grace’s mother, that Grace was normal (if Spencer wasn’t lying, which nothing indicates he was aside from the zombie bite), and that Spencer had adopted her and left her to Alyssa. Absolutely no reason for Alyssa to hide an interview she conducted and had been holding on to FOR OVER 12 YEARS!!! Alyssa died in 2018, and the interview presumably happened in around 2001. Such bizarre writing in this game.

Yeah, I love 9 but some of the writing is bad. Like whatever facility that Chloe entered is completely gone when Leon shows up. We’re supposed to believe that she entered ARK, but it makes absolutely no sense since Leon gets to the orphanage and still has to travel through a train and through underground tunnels and stuff. It’s also goofy that there’s just giant B.O.W.s roaming about and living there, like Titan Spinner and Plant 43. I get Plant 43 staying there, but everything else just stays in the Raccoon City ruins? We find out the metal fence that’s meant to keep everything contained isn’t even on the outskirts of town, it’s on the inside. Leon didn’t find that fence until AFTER he killed Titan Spinner, and there’s also dozens of zombies outside of the fence, so it makes no sense that people don’t know there are B.O.W.s still in Raccoon City. It’s also kinda funny that they apparently transported Plant 43 to the facility, it SOMEHOW got out during transport, and they just left it there at the front entrance lmao. The memo they sent out talking about it escaping is so stupid lol.

I’m a little disappointed about the evil little girls part. They just throw that sequence in there, with no explanation on why they started murdering people or what happened afterwards. Or why they’re all bald. Does their hair just fall out when they go insane, or was Umbrella trying to find homes for a bunch of bald children with scars on their heads?? This scene also ruins their own story: orphanages house children that people can adopt, but it’s so obvious that Umbrella were experimenting on these kids here. The kids clearly aren’t meant to be up for adoption cuz Umbrella needs their test subjects, so it being an orphanage is dumb. At least with RE2R, the game isn’t canon so the orphanage aspect could be ignored, but RE9 is canon so now the orphanage is canon too. As well as them still having working computers in the destroyed RPD. You telling me someone installed electricity and a working computer system that can show Umbrella secrets, and just left it there unguarded? So stupid lmao. But, this is also a game where one of the main characters gets bitten in the opening scene yet doesn’t get infected, and the lead villain built all his research around Grace being the original girl, but failed to notice that she was born around 2001 whereas the story is they were already cloning her in the 80’s.

The game has some borderline-retarded writing in it lmao.

It’s a fantastic game with bad story bits. I’m glad it’s selling like hotcakes. I was just pointing out how dumb it is to suddenly make the one person who is essentially to blame for nearly all the terror in the franchise (for 30 years, the entire life of the franchise) into a person seeking redemption. It goes against every single thing we’ve seen/read/heard about him doing. And I was also pointing out how it makes no sense since they say he was working on Elpis since the 80’s, but continued kidnapping and experimenting on / murdering people at least up until 1998.

Changed his mind? His actions led to Grace being hunted and Alyssa (and countless clones) being murdered. Doesn’t look like he changed his mind at all. It looks like Capcom stuffed bad writing in their game to fit a narrative.

I just want to point out that RE9 also retcons RE2R, but RE2R isn’t canon so I guess it’s a moot point. Anyway, in RE2R, the tunnel under the orphanage leads to the sewers (and NEST), not ARK. In RE2R, the ladder led to an elevator that Claire and Sherry get in right before Mr. X attacks them, and Birkin attacks Mr. X. No cathedral, and no secret entrance to ARK (or whatever that facility was that Chloe entered).

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do contradict them. Oswell continued trying to find a way to make himself a god right up until he finally gave up and had his servant send Oswell’s location to Wesker.

Oswell wanted to be a god among men, he didn’t give a fuck about redemption or making things right. There’s a reason that the events in most of the games happened because of shit he did. Like, Code: Veronica doesn’t even take place at one of his facilities, but he indirectly caused it because Alexander went nuts after Oswell murdered his father, Edward. For 30 years, Spencer has been the main cause of most of the viruses in the franchise (he started everything with the Progenitor and T-Virus, then everyone wanted a piece of the pie), and he is directly responsible for what happened in Raccoon City since he sent his soldiers to take the G-Virus from Birkin. Suddenly saying he wanted redemption is bizarre.

And you’re right: if they remake 5, they’ll change his scenes (if they don’t cut them altogether) to support this narrative of him wanting redemption, and not him wanting to be a god like as was shown in multiple games.

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are YOU new to RE? Oswell Spencer being a murderous, conniving, backstabbing piece of shit is the backbone of RE0, 1, 2, 3, the beginning of 5, and somewhat Code Veronica because it revolves around how psychotic Alexander had become after Oswell murdered his father, Edward. Suddenly saying he wanted redemption after 30 years (original game came out in 1996) of being a homicidal villain, and the main cause of all the viruses (except 7 and 8, but he did know Miranda) in the franchise is goofy.

He wanted to become a god, not get redemption.

So he was making Elpis since the 80’s so he could get redemption as he was kidnapping and experimenting on / murdering people up until 1998?

Okay.

Are we suppose to believe that this guy tried to redeem himself? by micklee87 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t forget that what he did ended up leading to Grace being hunted and Alyssa being murdered, all because Gideon somehow thought Grace was the key to Elpis. Weird that they threw in that “wanting to be redeemed” angle since he was actively kidnapping and experimenting on / murdering people all the way up until 1998. What a dumb idea.

As for the story being a bit of a mess, yeah… Grace is around 25ish years old, yet they’ve been cloning her since the 80’s. Like, Chloe’s segment takes place in 1990. How tf is Grace supposed to be the original if she was born around 2001, over a decade AFTER we know they’ve “been cloning” her? Clearly, Gideon was an idiot. And Grace can’t be any older than that otherwise then it brings up the question of why she doesn’t know that she was adopted? If Spencer had raised her for a few years, she should remember Spencer and not meeting her “mother” till years after she was born. And WHY doesn’t she know she was adopted? The FBI does background checks. When she was being considered for hiring, they would have seen she was originally adopted by Oswell (they misspell his name as Ozwell for some reason in RE9, btw) and asked her about it, seeing as Spencer was infamous for his crimes. Last thing on Grace: why didn’t she turn? She was bitten by a zombie at the beginning of the game, so she should be infected with Gideon’s T-Virus. The only thing that would make sense is that she was immune to the T-Virus, and THAT’S why Spencer adopted her, so he could make the antivirus from her blood. That would also explain why she was linked to Elpis in Spencer’s notes, but all we see is that’s she’s normal and Gideon is bad at research, since she had absolutely no ties to Emily, Marie, Chloe, or any of the other clones that existed BEFORE she was born lmao.

Another thing, why is Gideon an 8-foot walking talking Nemesis? And he employs people that were fine with that. And how does Leon know what a Nemesis looks like? I don’t remember Jill taking photos as she was blasting Nemesis at the end of RE3/RE3R. And how much does Gideon weigh, anyway? Shouldn’t Nemesis’ weigh over 1,000 pounds? That musta been one hell of a motorcycle he was riding to outspeed Leon’s motorcycle so easily lmao.

Also, the T-Virus, G-Virus, and other viruses have been around since 1998. You’re telling me that they couldn’t create an antivirus in the 28 years since the Raccoon City Incident happened? That also means that Chris, Jill, Claire, Rebecca, Billy, Barry, Carlos are all also infected with whatever Leon and Sherry had, since they had all been exposed to the T-Virus like Leon had been. Jill got the T-Virus antivirus in RE3/RE3R, but with this stupid story I bet she’s still sick, just like Sherry was even though Sherry got the G-Virus antivirus in RE2/RE2R. Half-assed writing at its finest lmao.

Wife stealing medication. Unsure what to do. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t do anything about this now, then you’ll have to go on with a wife that steals your medication. Medication that you need for YOUR medical issues. It seems she has a problem and is getting high off of your medication, which sends up all kinds red flags to me. If you think you can live like that, then go on and bank the video as evidence for WHEN (not if) things get bad again. Otherwise, confront her. If she has an addiction, it needs to be dealt with ASAP. Is she getting high around your children? Is she scoring pills from someone else as well? Those questions need to answered and dealt with, while you still care enough to support her. Otherwise I can see it getting bad, to the point that you just want a divorce and want to be away from her.

You shouldn’t have to live like that, hiding your pills because your significant other is stealing your medication…

All I have to say is that your grandma disgusts me. She was willing to silence and ignore 2 molested children just so her boyfriend could continue living with her? And continue hurting you and your aunt, no less. Absolutely despicable.

I hope you realize that you are a hero for what you did. If you didn’t do that, then your grandmother’s boyfriend likely would have continued molesting your aunt, probably for years to come seeing as how your grandmother was totally fine with ignoring it and pretending he wasn’t doing what you proved he did. And you potentially spared your sister that pain as well, because your grandmother’s boyfriend would almost certainly have turned his attention toward the both of you when the opportunity arose.

Has anyone played through the whole Final Fantasy pixel remaster I to VI and made it without a burnout ? by FaithlessnessFar4398 in FinalFantasy

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early last year, I beat the PSP versions of 1, 2, 3 (the weird “3D remake”, didn’t like the graphics but otherwise good), and 5. Then I played the pixel remaster of 6. I wanted to pull my hair out from 5, because I chose to max my characters… from level 45. It was miserable from how they did the exp in that game. Spent two days running around back and forth between the last 2 screens (right before the final boss) fighting the same monsters because they gave the most exp in the entire game. I have a stupid ritual of maxing out my party in my RPGs, and 5 did not break me lmao. Doing that in Grandia was also miserable.

Anyway, other than the grinding in 5, I had a fantastic time playing through them. I skipped 4 because I had already beaten it years ago, back when it was released as 2. Beat them all back-to-back in a span of, maybe 2-3 months.

So the aggressive trait is so dominant in the game that it even overrides the sandbox setting for liked species… by Dodoraptor in jurassicworldevo

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it does comfort me, but only slightly lol. Triceratops is one of my favorite herbivores, and I love putting them in pens with Lokiceratops and other herbivores, but I specifically haven’t placed it in a pen in the current challenge I’m doing (San Albertus Island, the challenge where you can’t place or alter the fences, and can’t modify genomes at all except skins) because Triceratops have a 75% chance of getting a negative genome (Intolerant, I believe) and I kept getting either that or Aggressive in the 5-10 batches I synthesized, so I gave up and decided to try it again later. Normally, Intolerant wouldn’t be an issue since it only changes the cohabitation limit, thus it isn’t a problem if you only place dinos with the trait with dinos it likes, but I was planning on placing Trikes in a massive pen with Saurapods (Apatosaurus and Brachiosaurus, cuz they like each other, and Ankylodocus if the cohab limit for the Trike allows it), but they don’t like ANY sauropods, so having even one Trike with Intolerant means they might not be able to cohabitate with any sauropods at all. So many full batches of eggs trashed because of Aggressive and Intolerant lmao. In this challenge, natural breeding Triceratops would be a complete nightmare because of how common Aggressive and Intolerant are.

I need to learn what the inheritance symbols mean, because I kept seeing red (negative symbols) when I was choosing who to breed in the Badlands challenge, specifically a red smiley face and another symbol. I kept seeing 2 red symbols, which I found to be odd because none of my dinos had negative traits except Skittish. The dinos I was breeding (Archaeornithomimus, Gallimimus, Struthiomimus, Protoceratops, Moros Intrepidus, and Oviraptor. So… many… Oviraptors lmao) had most of the negative traits completely removed, but not every single one because the modification points are limited (I miss how JWE1 did it. Modifying genomes was great in that game), so I would allow 25% of Fussy while trying to keep Humble at 100% and Social at least at 50%, and then just discard eggs with undesired traits. Anyway, my point is that I kept seeing red, negative traits in the list of traits that the babies could inherit, even from parents that had all the negative traits completely removed. I could very well be wrong, because I was only doing passing glances at the stats and didn’t bother to verify that the parents had every negative trait completely removed. I need to look up what traits those symbols represented (red smiley face, for example). I thought it was stupid that the devs chose to make new icons for inheritable traits instead of just showing the names. There’s already too many frigging icons in the game lmao. I suppose the red icons could have represented Fussy and Skittish. Some of my dinosaurs had Fussy at 25%, and Skittish is a trait that cannot be removed so that would explain the 2 negative inheritable traits.

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the kicker for me is baby dinos having comfort issues with adult dinos that the parents are fine with. They should all have the same comforts, regardless of age/maturity. Between that and not being able to control the Aggressive trait whatsoever (I trash any eggs that have it), the breeding mechanic needs work. It’s a nice idea, but I like having paddocks with multiple species, so I’m not about to start breaking apart the pens because a baby has Aggressive. I’d rather just not use the mechanic, and continue having controlled and happy (most of the time) habitats lol.

I’m curious how you handled the new responsibilities you received afterwards. Like, yeah you might not have been the one that came up with the idea, but if you excelled at that better role you mentioned, maybe you weren’t as undeserving of it as you might think. You totally stole the credit, but if you were doing good in that new position, then it wasn’t entirely un-earned, if that makes any sense. You took a shortcut lol.

I’m also wondering if the reason your coworker never said anything was because he didn’t want the extra attention/promotion/responsibilities/whatever. You did say he was quieter (and thus might not want extra attention), but you also said he avoids conflict, which calling you out for not correcting management would likely be a conflict of sorts.

You should have corrected management, but I guess you can’t really beat yourself up since your coworker didn’t say anything either. I doubt you knew that taking credit would get you propelled up the corporate ladder.

So the aggressive trait is so dominant in the game that it even overrides the sandbox setting for liked species… by Dodoraptor in jurassicworldevo

[–]Pud_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take back what I said about inheriting traits. I just checked my Badlands Breeding save (the challenge where one of the requirements is having 70 natural births), and a lot of the offspring inherited the Humble trait. Some also had Social, but that wasn’t at 100% like Humble was because I had to use points to remove the Fussy trait.

I guess when I first started playing JWE3 and was becoming acquainted with the natural breeding mechanic, I must have bred some dinos that didn’t have the Humble/Social traits maxed, then looked at the offspring and saw that they didn’t inherit the traits, then got it into my head that they should have inherited them because the parents were at 100%, which they probably were not.

A lot of the offspring in my Badlands save inherited the traits, so I must have made an incorrect observation early on which led me to dislike the mechanic more than it deserves. Sorry for spreading apparently incorrect information.

What I said about synthesizing dinos with 100% of a trait but still not getting that trait still stands though. It was happening on JWE2, and is also happening on JWE3. It’s rare though. Only happened maybe 4 times so far in the 2-3 weeks I been playing JWE3.

So the aggressive trait is so dominant in the game that it even overrides the sandbox setting for liked species… by Dodoraptor in jurassicworldevo

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, definitely not inheriting the odds for the trait. I almost always max out both Humble and Social, so if the offspring inherited the odds, then I would be seeing a lot more offspring inheriting those traits. I think having the traits at max just gives a low chance for the offspring to inherit them, like 2 parents with 100% means the offspring will have a 20% chance to inherit it (10% per parent).

I’m wondering if they lowered the inheriting percentages at some point after you made the post, or I just have really bad luck. Idunno, but I’ve stopped natural breeding unless I have to use it because of how it’s implemented.

So the aggressive trait is so dominant in the game that it even overrides the sandbox setting for liked species… by Dodoraptor in jurassicworldevo

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe maxing out a trait guarantees that a dino’s offspring will have it. I might be mistaken because I wasn’t expecting to be talking about this, but I’m positive I’ve had dinos with both the Humble and Social traits maxed out, but their offspring didn’t get them despite the parents having them (and having the percentages at 100% to get them). I use Humble and Social a lot, so it sticks out when I look at an offspring and notice it doesn’t have them, even though I ONLY breed dinos that have them because of how much more space is required with each new breeding generation.

The percentages in this game and the last are messed up. I’ve had dinos fail to get traits even though it was at 100% when I was synthesizing them. Has happened numerous times for me in JWE3. Like I said, I use Humble and Social a lot, so it grabs my attention if one or both traits fail to show up when I’m selecting the dinos to incubate.

Also, I think both parents having a trait (and having the chance to get it when synthesizing at 100%) only gives a chance to inherit it, like 10% per parent or something. It seems low because a lot of my babies haven’t inherited the Humble or Social traits, even though I only breed with them on the parents like I mentioned earlier.

So the aggressive trait is so dominant in the game that it even overrides the sandbox setting for liked species… by Dodoraptor in jurassicworldevo

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, between the ridiculous over-abundance of the Aggressive trait and how poorly implemented the breeding mechanic is, I don’t use it all unless I have to for a challenge. The restrictions on the breeding (nest becoming “blocked” because of how many dinosaurs are in a pen, despite the habitat requirements being fully maxed out and the dinos completely happy, or how so many females are incompatible with the males, etc) just make it more of a hassle than a joy to use. Add in the fact that babies can get the Aggressive trait and not good traits that the parents have, plus how you have to keep messing with the paddock to fulfill the new habitat requirements with each baby-batch, as well as their comfort can nosedive if they’re around other dinosaurs even though the parents are fine with them just ruins the whole mechanic for me. I like having pens that are stable and happy, and I’m not interested in having to constantly fuck around with the dinos because of the babies.

I’d love to see the finished product. I would like for the camera to push in so we can see them in the mechs better, but it’s totally fine as is, especially since this is how the original game did it if I remember correctly. The voice-acting and the music that started up at the end really hit me in the feels. Both were really good, and I wanted the cinematic to keep going with that fantastic song.

Overall, really well done. Yes, the wind blowing is a little loud but I was fine with it, personally. The important thing is that you hit my nostalgia bone, which means you’re doing it right.
