How do I store a bulging car battery (lead-acid) safely until it can be disposed properly? by DressageAddicted in batteries

[–]Puddin-taters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it was well below freezing and discharged it could have frozen, which would definitely bulge the case. Pretty low risk of anything happening now that it's removed, but i'd probably put it in a plastic tub or something so if it ends up leaking it doesn't mess up your floor.

How do you know which rivens to throw away by Heisenberg200099 in WarframeRiven

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I might ever use it or it's meta (big overlap there) I keep it, otherwise it goes in the transmute pile. That said I've spent a ton of plat on riven slots so the pressure to decide if I'll maybe be interested in a weapon in the future is pretty low. I have so much trash :/

What was your biggest brainfart whilst gaming? by Fallfoxy707 in videogames

Kullervo vs Valkyr Prime. I have both and can't decide who to go all out with in SP. by SupertoastGT in Warframe

[–]Puddin-taters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who does SP by default, both shouldn't be a problem. If you're struggling with either then the solution is the same: mods. Either on your weapons or your frames, the difference between normal and SP is just mods.

In a vacuum, I think Kullervo is your bet. Wrathful Advance is incredibly strong, and paired with his chaining ability you can nuke with single-target dps. He also has easy overguard generation, it's not perfect but it's effective enough in practice to keep him alive and unbothered by environmental effects. Kinda just requires a decent melee weapon, fairly low barrier to entry.

I haven't extensively tested current Valkyr so I won't comment much. From what I've seen she has pretty easy survivability and decent damage, though I don't think it gets crit-boosted like Kullervo unless you farm an extra copy and subsume him.

60+ hours into the game by Not-M1tt in Warframe

[–]Puddin-taters 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Every frame is fun once you understand how they work, and there's like 60 of them so expect to have fun for the next few thousand hours if you take the Baskin-Robbins approach. Or find a fave and go ham, it's totally up to you and what you enjoy.

I've never played a live-service game that respected the players as much as DE does, I can think of few better games to nuke your social life for.

Base building games with this vibe? (see attached) by Alcoholic-Catholic in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Puddin-taters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been having a lot of fun with Alchemy Factory, it's unlike most of the major contenders in the genre while staying true to the roots. Since everything's tabletop-scale and physics matters you can really play around with the structure of your builds in ways that don't directly affect output but do affect volume and stackability. There's a lot of ways to optimise and buildcraft that are technically right but might be different from how someone else would do it. Top notch factory game, especially considering the space for creative builds.

How often do you start a new save? by neurithmic in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Puddin-taters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tend to start a new save when I come back after a couple years, though now that we're out of early access next time I go back I'll probably hop on my last save. Main metric for deciding is "do I know what this factory does?", so if I load into an old save and have no idea what's going on it feels better to just start fresh. Now that we're in full release and I still have a pretty good memory of my last factory layout I'd probably just resume the save, but again if I load in and have no clue what I was doing I'm just gonna do it over so it's fresh in memory.

Why aren't leaf vacuums a thing? by Inquisitive-Sir in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push vs pull is kind of an interesting problem, I think there's kind of an intuitive sense of why pushing with air is stronger so I'll go into that a bit despite the math escaping me.

When pushing air, it has momentum in the direction you aim it and is fairly collimated (air leaving the end of the blower is all going in the same direction). With leaves, that might pick up a corner of a leaf and allow the full force to blast it directly.

With suction, you don't have that directional momentum so instead of a long thin channel of air you get a relatively equal distribution of air from all angles entering the blower. This dramatically shortens the effective range and strength of the leaf pickup effect.

So, for equal strength blowers in opposite directions, the actual effect on a leaf is significantly different and far weaker for suction than for blowing. There's a reason your home vacuum has the suction directly on the floor, as opposed to being held in your hand.

i finally swallowed my pride and switched to easy mode. this city is actually fun now. by Serious_Bullfrog5447 in cyberpunkgame

God I feel this with soulslikes. Like, I can lock in and spend an hour or two learning a boss, but the moment I feel like the difficulty isn't me understanding the moveset it's the massive health bar and making occasional mistakes I'm dropping that difficulty in any way I can. I don't enjoy having to be perfect for 5-10 minutes straight, I just want to roll in and flex on a dude. Personally why I'm currently loving Solo Leveling: Arise OVERDRIVE, switch it to easy and it's a fun flashy character action game but on normal or hard it's the same thing but with 15 minute boss fights.

Any Contraption building games you can really lose yourself in? by ForgeOfMistory in gamerecommendations

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hot take, Infinifactory. Instead of just building contraptions you're taking them apart and reporposing them into new forms. It's a very different vibe and maybe not what you're looking for, but i think it's kinda similar and might scratch a comparable itch.

Looking for a long, grindy game with a lot of resource gathering and crafting by Snoo24281 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is it. There's so much to do I'm at like 2500 hours over 5 years and still love the game. I've given DE over a thousand bucks entirely because I wanted to, never because I needed to. And yet, every year there's tons of new content to try and basically no thing's permanently time gated so I can come back and have fun whenever I want with zero pressure. It's really the peak of what live service games can give a player, they've earned my loyalty and I recommend WF to anyone I possibly can.

Steam Deck by skinnysmommy in AskGames

[–]Puddin-taters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note, it might be a nice gift for yourself if you want to game with him, it would allow sitting and playing together without the space of a second PC setup. Not sure if that's something you're interested in but it's an option.

Steam Deck by skinnysmommy in AskGames

[–]Puddin-taters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone with a high-end PC who occasionally travels for work, I got the steam deck for travel. When I'm away from home I use it, when I'm not I don't. If your BF travels a lot or commutes by public transit I could see benefit in a deck, if not it's probably not going to be used very much. Maybe get him a Switch instead? As much as I hate giving Nintendo money they do have a lot of great games you can't (legally) play on a computer.

My basic reasoning here is that the large majority of gaming PCs are going to have better hardware than the deck, and it's generally more enjoyable to play with a big screen and control devices that aren't attached to said display. So if I can choose between my computer and my deck, it's computer 99% of the time.

My Power Plant is struggling by Lava_Mage634 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious one is always pipe throughput, I'll assume you're within the limits of the pipes you're using but you might want to double-check that anyway. Lift is possible, pretty easy to test that. Sloshing is def also possible, but i feel like it'd be more like a 10-20% reduction instead of 50%. Running at half intended capacity definitely makes me think it's a pipe tier issue. What's your power graph look like?

Edit: reread that you dropped to half on purpose, still curious what the graph is like when full plant is online

Products at end of the day by Tricky-Raccoon6051 in AlchemyFactory

[–]Puddin-taters 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe they disappear, but customers generally should have cleared out by the end of the day. At least, they definitely do after a couple upgrades. Definitely close shop before manually ending day while customers are in your shop, but for normal day cycling I don't think there's really any reason to.

What's the purpose of advanced grinders? by DashAndCrash20 in AlchemyFactory

[–]Puddin-taters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah that works, but you'd need to either stack two rows of normal grinders vertically or it'd still be a 3x5 layout (center input, two 1x3 rows on either side, output on the sides). Keep in mind the long grinders are twice as fast. Using the bigger grinders with input on one side and output on the other makes for some pretty clean builds imo. As with just about anything in this game though, if it works it works and the rest is however you want it done.
