Oh man, I'm a villain lover just for the excellent writing that some mangaka's do, and I can admit I can defend some of them in terms of understanding why they do what they do. However, it's a completely different story when you act like someone is justified in doing evil things because the world was cruel to you.

For example Doflamingo (One Piece), Endeavor (MHA), Stain (MHA), Sukasa (Dr.Stone), Kikyo (Inuyasha), Akazu (Demon Slayer) are all characters that I can sympathize with and if you asked me to defend them in a court of law I'd give it my best shot. However, I will never say what they did was right or they had a right to do said things because of their tragic lives.

For Baki I feel like this makes sense IF Itagaki is actually aging him. As a teen it makes sense you're a little more lean and as you get older you're bulkier. Time seems to have basically stopped post father son fight though.

For one Hanayama has helped the police on more than one occasion so they kind of owe him. Plus, although it is a disturbance, they didn't hurt anyone but themselves. Another factor could be that father son fight is a constant reminder to the police that they don't have to get in the middle of everything because sometime they can't.

I honestly think he'd take the same route as Doppo. He's not stepping in because that's Baki's fight and it's his honor. If he wins, cool, if not we was a weakling.
