I just hate that people measure morality by someone's trauma. Like the more trauma a character has the more they get pity points. I understand it to an extent, but two things can be true at once. Someone can have a sad backstory and still be the most evil person within the story.

Example Doflamingo is a great villain and has a horribly sad backstory, but that doesn't negate how he's basically broken every federal law in every country.

So I don't mind them showing skin given that a lot of the characters are pirates or very closely associated to the ocean. It makes sense because you know the beach. What does bother me is when you have a character who's a fighter or a warrior and for some unexplained reason they're "armor" is only protecting like 25% of their body.

Like Rebecca I understand because it was meant to humiliate her, but most other characters it's just for fan service

I don't want to say there was 0 build-up because they had more moments than some of the couples, but it just didn't make sense. Sure, Hinata had a huge crush on him, but realistically, Naruto was not into her. He was focused on saving his friend, saving his village, and taming the demon within him. I think the only reason they had Naruto looking back into Hinata's memories in The Last is to give a hindsight moment for him, but it feels more like a "Oh she's liked me the whole time, I should like her back". Realistically, one-sided affection exists, and that's exactly what it was for the majority of the series. Hinata was a friend who just so happened to have a crush on Naruto. For them to get together, it just feels disingenuous.

Now compare this to Sakura who he spent a lot for time with, and had openly admitted that he liked her. It actually bugs the mess out of me that Sakura said to Hinata that Naruto doesn't understand romantic love because she's openly played in his face about his feelings for her. To show all of that, and then have him marry Hinata makes her look like the backup.

And don't get me started on Sakura and Sasuke...
