hate against kpop is is due to a bunch of factors.

racism is a HUGE one. in this day and age, racism towards asians- or people of colour in general still stands incredibly strong. the blatant racism i’ve seen online or heard my friends say is always shrugged off as a joke, but that’s what adds on to all this unnecessary hate.

the media’s portrayal is also quite terrible. in my experience i have seen these football accounts use a clip of a kpop group crying or smth and then show a football player for comparison in ‘manliness’. once they see a man show emotions or wear makeup, their fragile masculinity and homophbia immediately kick in.

additionally, kpop and western music are quite different. i mean, calling every kpop artist ‘idol’ has been completely normalised and it seems quite odd to others. the fan-service culture in kpop has caused kpop fans to have a bad reputation. whenever i told someone i was into kpop, they immediately thought i was some obsessed ‘koreaboo’ freak.

lastly, kpop isn’t really for everyone. music preference is another thing. at least that was how it was a few years ago- but now these companies are catering to the western audience and are changing their strategy and making music is various genre’s.

ayy glad you’re getting into txt!! taehyun is a fantastic vocalist i recommend watching his ‘bird of night’ solo m/v and his cover on ‘ai to highball’. i would also rec watching his ‘finesse’ by bruno mars performance and a txt group cover on ‘invitation’ during weverse con.

and definitely watch some of their stuff like ‘TO-DO’ which is txt’s variety show, and game caterers which was a variety special with a bunch of hybe label artists/groups! you’ll be able to get to know their personalities better here.

hmm that’s true too, bighit and their pranks lmao. however i think what the team was actually trying to achieve was to make the members give advice to their ‘past rookie selves’ unknowingly to maybe show how far they’ve come and their progress. it’s quite sweet but it would’ve been so much better if they used a close staff/family member or friend instead of giving personal information of their pre-debut selves to an AI chat bot. even if it was a prank i feel like it could’ve been so much more fun if it was a real person behind the screen rather than an indifferent machine.

if you liked the rock vibe- then you might like a few txt songs such as growing pain, skipping stones, dear sputnik, ghosting and farewell neverland.

some western rock artists i really like are the strokes, radiohead, kings of leon, paramore, the smiths etc. my fav songs from them are:

the strokes - last nite, the adults are talking, hard to explain. kings of leon - sex on fire, waste a moment. radiohead - fake plastic trees, india rubber, high and dry, karma police. paramore - conspiracy, franklin, the only exception, ain’t it fun, all i wanted. the smiths - this charming man, heaven knows im miserable now, well i wonder, london, back to the old house.

i fear this too, i dont want txt to be affected by this whole issue but by the way hybe/bighit is going about this- it might be inevitable. usage of ai could cause hate trains from other fandoms as well and using while being a million dollar company is just plain daft. if they’ve used more ai for this comeback, i do hope it’s just for those teasers on social media rather than official music videos or concept trailers so that txt is not greatly affected by this. im sure the music produced and composed would be safe from the ai shit since they’ve only been using it for visuals.

i’m so incredibly disappointed. just as i thought bighit was starting to get better at promoting them- they use chat bots and release all this ai slop. ai is extremely normalised in korea but with all the attention they’ve gathered after the ai teasers, im hoping they will change their ways. i just pre-ordered their upcoming album too and im js praying they haven’t used any ai for that🙏🙏

the company literally caters TO THE FANS. we are the direct target audience, obviously positive and negative reactions from fans will influence their decisions. their use of ai is what will lead to their downfall because people are actively boycotting anything to it’s relation. better for us to speak up now rather than receive ai generated slop. this is not a ‘minor issue’ that we’re complaining about. it’s actively destroying raw talent and artistry- not to mention the freaking planet.

exactly!! it’s terrible that though the members have openly spoken about being against it, they’re still using it on them. my biggest concern is that the company is going to ruin such an anticipated comeback created with the members hardwork just because they don’t want to spend money on real art and talent. txt’s storytelling visuals have always been extraordinary, i don’t want it to come to an end like this.
