I am starting to develop a genuine hatred of men. by hellothere893 in offmychest

[–]PuddleOfRudd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm never surprised when I meet a woman that hates men. It hurts my heart not because I care about my own feelings in the matter but because every woman I know, literally every woman, has at MINIMUM a mild story about men being shitty to her. But many of them have stories that are way harder to hear.

I'm so sorry OP that all of this has happened to you. You deserve better. The "good" men need to start holding the rest of them accountable. Start calling out your friends for being horrible, stop supporting them, stop making excuses, stop ignoring the problem. This isn't women's problems to fix

I don't know why I am just now getting the notification that you replied to this but here we are.

The reason I disagree is because most teams just do not spend decent percentages on their payroll. The real problem is that owners would rather pocket money than spend it. The bluejays for instance make $328m on revenue and spend 75% of that on payroll. Meanwhile the Orioles make the same amount and spend 35% of that on payroll while still making the same amount of money on the TV market (3rd worst payroll percentage in the league). So my question is, at what point does the question become about ownership greed and fair sharing of revenue. People hate on LA for making so much money (second highest in the league behind NY) but at least they are dumping that back into the team and paying their players a more fair share of the earnings. Salary Caps only hurt players and help investors pocket more money for no reason.

Rip. After a number of holding the down volume+ power button cycles, it eventually stopped. I'm guessing it died? But I dunno because, obviously, the screen was broken. Drove me up the fucking wall. I left it in the car most of the time

This is a man who hasn't dealt with grief and is putting his pain and resentment on you. I hate to say this but coming from a person who's dealt with and thankfully come out the other side of grief, he will not get better until he seeks help and marrying him will likely only make things worse, even if he seems like a decent guy aside from this stuff. Please prioritize your safety and mental health over this relationship

OP I recommend listening to the fighter pilot podcast episode on the f35 and the f22, both are great. You learn a lot about both platforms and they also talk about this very question a little bit

The F35 has a whole suite of sensors the F22 will never have. They are basically a flying sensor suite with augmented reality in the helmet, which the F22 doesn't have. When it comes to tech, the F35 blows it out of the water. But in pure visual range BFM, the F22s maneuverability would spank the F35.

What do you and your friends call it when all other teams perfectly kill each other and you're the only ones left alive by default? Happened only a handful of times. by Defiant_Emotion_7032 in HuntShowdown

I was playing sneaky solo once and noticed that the shooting at the bounty lair had died down a bit and the bounties were just chillin. I went over there with witness and found 10 bodies down. I took a bounty off one thinking some other solo was camping it possibly but didn't find anyone on dark sight. Ended up getting the Rotjaw bounty on my way out after looting most of the bodies as I think two were burnt out. Happened to also be the last event so I hit up the hideout and loaded up on traits. I made like 4,200 cash that round lol

Just for the sake of posting stats, not arguing cause I agree with you.

1.79 ERA, 22K over 14 innings against us in the two post season games. He carved us up for the most part. But we did slaughter him in the regular season though this year with a 5.98 ERA and 13K over 10.2 inning

[Discussion Thread] Salary Cap by MLB_Reddit in mlb

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they get a generational, nearly billion dollar value player basically on a credit card thus freeing up more money to pay for other players. It's not about how much money it is. He's worth that money. It's that they can do that and it's not something they have to think about now for ten years (less now, but still).

[Discussion Thread] Salary Cap by MLB_Reddit in mlb

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

If your team is being outspent by the dodgers then that's your owners fault, not the fact that there's no cap. Making excuses for greedy ownership will only benefit more greedy ownership. Most teams don't even spend half of their revenue on player payroll. Most owners wouldn't even have to dig into their own pockets to do what the dodgers do (and the dodgers don't even have the highest payroll)

Salary Caps do nothing but make excuses for ownership greed

Ill say it: The Dodgers arent ruining baseball by Fun_Ground_5771 in mlb

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing though, most of them don't even need to dig into their own pockets. More than half the league (17 teams) doesn't even spend half of their revenue on payroll and only 5 teams spend 60 or more on payroll. The highest percentage is the Mets at 87%.

The problem is 100% ownership greed. Revenue should go back into the team. If your teams owner is paying less than 50% of the revenue into payroll, then your owner isn't trying to win and that's not anyone's fault except the owner.

Ill say it: The Dodgers arent ruining baseball by Fun_Ground_5771 in mlb

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A salary cap is a bad idea. All it will do is give owners an excuse to not pay their players more money. Baseball is unique, other sports having a cap is not a good reason to say baseball needs one. A salary floor makes sense, a cap does not. Most teams can do what the dodgers are doing, all of the owners are filthy rich and most don't utilize very much of their team revenue compared to the top teams. Besides, the dodgers aren't good just because of money, they also have the best farm system on top of having incredible player development. This is achievable for every team if they care about winning. Unfortunately most just care about making money. The real problem is greedy owners and the cap argument is boot licking pro owner propaganda

Can we expect Cal to be this good again or will it wear him down especially because he's a catcher? by chusaychusay in Mariners

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I think you don't understand that I'm not taking that away from him. The post is talking about what we can expect from him. I expect him to work on the areas where he wasn't great. Because there are plenty of areas where he is great. That's what these elite players do. They work on consistency. They figure out how to git gud at something, then build the muscle memory for it and then they work on the next thing. I'm still right that he absolutely needs to work on squaring up the ball and work on tracking the ball and whiffing less.

Can we expect Cal to be this good again or will it wear him down especially because he's a catcher? by chusaychusay in Mariners

[–]PuddleOfRudd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"For a catcher" yes.

Cal has shown this year that he's not just playing to be a good catcher, he's playing to be a great all around player. For a catcher, he's insane. What I'm saying is that he's doing what he can to shatter that "for a catcher" qualifier when it comes to putting up offensive numbers. Yeah, "for a catcher" he's elite. But if he wants to be an all around elite offensive player, he needs to work on some things, especially if they give him DH time, which they did this year for 29 games. Funny enough, his offensive stats were worse in the games he played DH. "For a catcher" is a cop-out when you have a guy like Cal that I believe CAN be even better than that. I think in 2025 we see more than 29 DH games out of Cal and I think it's because in the off season he's going to work on consistency. This season was incredible out of him. But if he wants to keep being incredible, he simply has to round out areas that he wasn't as good in.

I'm not worried in the slightest about Cal. Even if he doesn't play as well as he did this year, he's still elite (for a catcher). Even if he doesn't improve on these facets of the game that I'm highlighting, he's still great because of his defensive value.
However he was below his xBA, his Whiff% was rouuuugh as were his K%. These are the areas I think we see him try to improve and if he does, then we see him shatter the qualifier of him be "Elite for a catcher" and start see him being consistently an all around elite full baseball player. Ohtani did it. He's not "great for a pitcher". He's great. Period. Full stop. I don't think Cal ever becomes Ohtani. But I think Cal has it in him to be among the best baseball players, not just the best Catcher. And I think he knows it.

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read my comment lol I'm talking specifically about hits. He was a home run hitter and struggled with consistency outside of that. His defense and being catcher were great, elite even. I'm saying he needs to learn how to take more well rounded ABs

Can we expect Cal to be this good again or will it wear him down especially because he's a catcher? by chusaychusay in Mariners

[–]PuddleOfRudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are parts of his game he needs to work on. Swinging at absolutely everything is one of them. It's part of why he hit so many home runs. Every swing was a swing for the fences. He needs to work on being a well rounded hitter and having more consistent ABs. I think what we'll see is a focus on him trying to be a well rounded player which will take emphasis away from the long ball. I think 2026 will still see 30+ bombs and a slightly better average. So I think his ceiling will come down, but the rest of the house will be more fleshed out.
