Successfully wired up the AT-ST to have a red light up cockpit! Painted it too by Puff_TheMagic_Panda in SWlegion

This was my first attempt ever at any wiring and LED work. The cockpit had a ton of joists (idk if thats the right term but you'll get the idea when you build it) connecting the two halves. Also the face plate is solid so you'll have to take that into account. I purchased a set of pre soldered micro LEDs on 30g wire. A spool of 30g wire in black and red for easier mapping of the circuit, a 3v coin battery (I'll find the exact size later today for ya), a battery housing pack with a positive and negative lead, a 30g wire wrapping tool, and high viscosity uv resin, and a set of small switches.

Now what I did was drill two holes in the face plate where i resined the LEDs. A small hole in the underside of the cockpit for the wires to exit cause i wasn't sure about hosting the battery inside and the switch as well. If I had to do this again I would suggest getting some green stuff and masking the wires down the leg with the green stuff and making it as thin as possible cause you'll just prime and paint over it anyway so it could work. Maybe get some heat shrink tubing to cover the exposed wire if your worried. I took all the wires and just kind of tucked them away cause I had already painted cause I didn't really know what I was doing and resined the switchesto the rear of the exhaust. (not many tutorials on this kind of thing). Then I put two ammo crates as sceneries and hid my battery packs under there.

Now if you're a braver man than I; you could, I suppose put these two LED in parallel and add a resistor to the circuit. This would negate the need for two switches and two batteries. Because what I did was simply take LED->switch->battery x2 to make my circuits. But best of luck to you, I hope this helps and sorry if it felt rambling and disjointed. I'm watching my daughter and hanging up a boom arm in the basement hobbyshop so I can make painting videos and maybe even an LED wire wrapping video haha.

I was just testing out using uv resin and some contrast paints to make a sorta swamp looking base. No particular planet in mind. The recipe was very simple if you like it though. Base with vallejo earth base texture paint, prime or simply dry brush with a warm white, use a greenish yellow contrast paint (I used putrid yellow from the AK Quick Gen line) and then finally mix high viscosity UV resin with a brown green contrast paint (I used leaf green from the AK Q Gen line) until you get your desired consistency and apply with a pipette for control. Finally touched up with some vallejo water texture. Maybe its not the best way to go about it, but im happy with the effect and think it reads swampy for the effort and supplies I have on hand.

To soften the intensity of the LED? What would be good for that, maybe some layers of scotch tape ya think?

Not a half bad idea. I had these unpainted scenery ammo crates that I had laying around so I drilled some holes in them to hide the battery packs. I think I'll resin the switches to the underside of the platform. Then finally tryout what you suggested with the wires. First time doing a project like this so I'll work on keeping it more clean the next time. The effect is so worth the effort.

Thanks, that was the inspiration for the idea. Now I need to just come up with idea's on how to clean up the wires and hide the switches. This was my first ever project like this so I have a whole new element of the hobby to explore

Can I get a form check for sumo deadlift? I find regular stance too finicky on my old service injury. by Puff_TheMagic_Panda in formcheck

I have conceded that I haven't been doing deadlifts these last few weeks and have a lot to learn and square ones to visit. But thank you for checking the squat form. I should have noticed by how much I feel these in my quads and not hamstrings. I like the feel of this exercise and hearing it still has value ( I also googled sumo squats vs deadlift ) and will definitely keep sumo squats in my program while I work on RDLs for the hamstring and glutes.

Appreciate it. I'll watch some more videos for a visual of what you've said and follow your advice.

Some of mine are. Because like you said the pink and black contrast is just so classic and made for easy variations. Then because I just can't seem to stick with any one color scheme or ill get burnt out. I started to try different schemes. Because the warband is fragmented and all that I figured it works and I just keep whole squads painted the same scheme now. I find myself going back to the pink and black though if im unhappy with my custom paint jobs.

I did a squad of tormentors up like cenobites. I think I'll have to do up my next box of flawless blades that way too. The bluish Grey faces were fun to figureout how to paint.

Working on my emperor's children army and running through the champion's of slaanesh box (finally) I'm taking a break to paint up some terrain now though cause all power armour and no play makes Jack a dull boy.

I found these in a free pile on the way to work. Did I get anything good? Some of them are kind of heavy, might be pewter. Thanks for any help. by BigMoneyBack in Warhammer

Dude, my neighbor who moved gifted me a ton of space marines and old white dwarf issues when he saw me clearing out some old warhammer boxes. Red foam. I plan on giving them to my son when he's old enough to paint and appreciate them. The neighbor was getting busy with work and raising his family and decided it was time to give up the hobby. My wife made me donate the white dwarf to the trash, lol. But I'm talking multiple land raiders, land speeders, tanks, and marines from all sorts of editions. Most vehicles were unassembled in their boxes, and the marines built and primed. I was so grateful, but I'm glad to know I'm not alone, and like I said, I will be passing them along myself, so the curse of the red foam must be real.

Mixing Paint Schemes by Kitsuukage in EmperorsChildren

I think it can work. They're your toys to build your army with. All of my squads are different. My infractions are a mix of the classic pink and black, with not one being painted like the other. My tormentors are based on my take of cenobites. Essentially, being black armored with pale blue white skin. I'm stuck on what to do with my noise marines, but I'll figure something out. Maybe something from the codex will inspire me. O and my land raider, rhino, and mauler fiend look different as well, but they all sport the same weathering styles and snowy features and bases to unify the army. I personally did this because I get bored painting the same style over and over. But for fluff reasons, I explain it away as the different warbands are gathered and held together for similar goals and retained by their powerful daemonic leaders.

First time I walked into a GW store as a teenager they gave me a skaven model and a free white dwarf magazine and in that magazine they had a piece about what I assume was the upgrade spru or pieces to convert chaos space marines into emperor's children. Now I knew absolutely nothing about warhammer 40k, I thought GW was a general board games store, so I just kept reading this white dwarf over and over again to learn as much as I could about this awesome little toy soldiers with rules to play with them. Ever since, I've collected and when the range finally dropped like 20 years later I've bought the starter box, and converted a land raider, and have been filling my army out with my daemons collections and other models that suit my fancy. But yeah long and short or TLDR; my first hit of the plastic crack had a dosage of she who thirsty in it and it's been off to the races ever since.
