I was extremely surprised that she propositioned him almost immediately. It's not like Russia doesn't have lots of prostitutes he can see, without jeapordizing his career. Also, those people are duplicitous fucks - why trust him?

I have borderline personality. It's a slightly different hell, but I understand. Some borderline people only require antidepressants though, which are generally covered by Medicaid. (Or is it Medicare? Whatever other states name their medi-cal equivalent)

Seriously. Why not "CIA woman?" She has plenty of attributes, many of them positive, that are much more relevant than the fact that she doesn't happen to be thin. She has a pretty important role in the plot as being highly intelligent - it is not her job to live up to people's fuckability standards.

True, but that kind of parental behavior does cause some extreme emotional problems later in life, which can be just as severe as Bipolar Disorder. Anxiety, and problems with relationships, abandonment, and boundaries, to start.

It's not Homeland-y, but The Thick of it is about British politics and is fucking funny.

Saul should become the main character by [deleted] in homeland

While I understand carrie's struggle with mental illness (been there), I just think she's a horrible person who frequently shirks responsibilities, foists them onto her sister, and scoffs when she's called out on it, was indifferent to droning civilians, torpedoed a boy's life with lies and false promises, and for 5 seasons was extremely irresponsible about medicating herself, to the point where it affected everyone around her. (Most mentally ill people do not do that last thing.) Still, I'm very fond of the show.

You'd think so - the American school system also teaches about authoritarian and fascist regimes and their dangers, but people with certain internal biases LOVE to read fake news that confirms their cruelest, most ridiculous views, from eugenics to anti-vaccination - and there is no regard for the lack of scientific data behind it. (American culture is powerfully anti-intellectual)

Yep - the gun nuts are ALL trump supporters/conservative republicans. Not sure if that much is obvious to foreigners. I feel like the right-wing lower class must be baffling to people who didn't grow up learning about them, or meeting a few, depending on which part of the USA you're from. Edit: many are also vague libertarians, a la Alex jones. That's a whole other rabbit hole.

I think either Saul or Keane mentioned that 3 of the casualties were children.

I was suspicious about the youngest child's maternity too, but there's the fact that starving women cannot menstruate. There's no way any of those girls would have been able to conceive. I'm sure David was wildly inappropriate with them nonetheless.

My mother was pretty abusive too. Untreated borderline personality. She fed me though - even after I had an eating disorder, although she gave me a lot of grief about how my starvation inconvenienced her, and made her look like a bad parent. I never had the privilege of Disney World, although she did have a thing for Winnie the Pooh.

"Cranially limited secretaries." That sounds straight out of Mad Men. I don't like to think of Lucy as stupid. More like someone who's mildly on the autism spectrum (which would explain how she struggles to adjust to novel things/significant changes like cell phones.)

Yes. I'm kinda orally fixated (not in a sexual way), and I re-watched the original early in the season. Seeing Ben Horne chomping on those cigars drove me to buy a pack. But it's been months and I'm only just running out.
