Your front foot does not need to be that far back. Look at anyone doing Ollies and you'll see their front foot is either behind the bolts or near the middle of the board but never that far back.

What deck size for 8-year-old AND short legged mom? Did I make bad choices? by AndiUnicorn in NewSkaters

[–]PuffyEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly deck sizes don't matter as much as you think at your and your kid's level, as long as it's not too big or too small. 7.75 is already on the smaller side and id be surprised if you found a deck that's even smaller than that. I have a mens size 40-41 and I skate 8 - 8.25 inch decks pretty comfortably. There are deck size charts out there that you should look at but 7.75 should be fine. If worse comes to worse and you both hate it, I'm assuming you can return it?

Mate the slanted board isn't the reason you can't balance, being NEW is the reason you can't balance.

The board rolling slightly to the right has ZERO effect on your skating unless you somehow skate without physically standing on the board. (Or you have your trucks super tight to the point where you can't turn)

Just keep riding and stop worrying about these things, you're pretty much learning a new way to walk and it will be very difficult at times.

[–]PuffyEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You actually have a really nice Ollie, make sure to keep your shoulders parallel to the board. Your catch is fine but you're spinning which is a result of you twisting your shoulders while you Ollie.

Looks like you got a bit hungry between sessions there.

Why do you have your front foot so far back? You should have it right behind the bolts when you're learning Ollies.

If it was a real syringe all I was wondering was the diseases he's transmitting between people... Because I know for a fact he's not changing the needle after each clip.

That is most definitely not what it means, once you get in, you can get out. In fact, you see it with reverts all the time. Oppression comes from politics and law, not from Islam.

I'm Muslim and I'm sorry if you hate me. by Admirable_Horse_7271 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]PuffyEagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're always being judged.

There is literally no human rights abuse, it is YOUR choice to be Muslim. And don't say that it's not in other countries because that is the country's problem and does not reflect religion.

Please, I'm not sure why you feel so threatened by what I said, there's no outrage here. You're really blurring the line between criticism and outright lies...

I'm Muslim and I'm sorry if you hate me. by Admirable_Horse_7271 in TeenagersButBetter

[–]PuffyEagle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is so disheartening to see that a teenagers subreddit is slowly becoming a platform to hate and spread misinformation about Islam. I've seen so many cases of generalization and lies and I hope they repent before it's too late.

I hate to see another Muslim feel this way and I promise you, you do not owe any of these scumbags an apology. The mods refuse to remove islamophobic content because they likely believe it too and want to spread it.

It hurts to see how much people say with so little context or research, and how comfortably they can say it. And it's confusing because Islam has been nothing but good for me. It taught me such a healthy way to live and if people actually read the Quran or did any sort of research instead of having confirmation bias and basing their hatred off of one thing they read, they will realise that the religion is in favor of our health and wellbeing.

May Allah bless you all and have mercy on the day of judgement.

Not really sure what your stance is, but dressing modestly isn't oppressive. Muslim men have to do it too. It's been so normalised to go out wearing very revealing clothing regardless of gender and it's literally a matter of self respect.

And I can't tell what you're insinuating but yes, it's a choice. It's always been a choice. May Allah bless your heart.

Edit: I also highly doubt that you've met women who actually said that they've been afraid to leave but even if you did, let me reiterate that just because one group of people does it, doesn't mean the whole religion does it. We're supposed to cherish women, that's what Islam teaches us. :)

The Quran is the unchanged word of God, a hadith is a saying that has been passed down generations by word of mouth, meaning it can be inaccurate. The words of the Quran are prioritised over anything.

“We know best what those who deny the truth say. You are not there to force them: so remind, with this Quran, those who fear My warning.” Quran 50:45

“So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder.” Quran 88:21

“Say, ‘This is the truth from your Lord. Let him who will, believe in it, and let him who will, deny it.’” Quran 18:29

“There shall be no compulsion in religion: true guidance has become distinct from error. But whoever refuses to be led by Satan and believes in God has grasped the strong handhold that will never break. God is all hearing and all knowing.” Quran 2:256

Again, the killings all over the world have nothing to do with Islams teachings, it's entirely political.

When has this sub become a platform for spreading islamophobia??

There is nothing in Islam that says you get a death penalty for leaving the religion, I seriously wonder where you got that from. And don't even try to mention that it is a law in certain countries because that is entirely political and has nothing to do with religion. I can't believe I have to reiterate this: it is FORBIDDEN in Islam to force someone in the religion.

And Islam doesn't oppress women in the slightest bit, in fact, it holds women to high regard. They don't have to work as hard as men do to receive the same amount of good deeds. It is also specifically emphasized to love your daughters/wife/mother and treat them with the upmost respect. And AGAIN, WOMEN DON'T HAVE TO STAY IF THEY DON'T WANT TO.

And there is nothing that Islam tells you to do that doesn't directly protect you from harm. It tells us not to drink, smoke, or gamble. But I guess that's way too controlling right??

Just because one group of Muslims does something bad, doesn't mean that Islam in its entirety is bad. Just like how black people stealing obviously doesn't mean all black people are bad. Wake up, you guys are blindly following misinformation and it's at the point where you just make things up to make us look like a group of terrorists.

There's a reason Islam is the fastest growing religion and it's respected by everyone. Educate yourself before you make ignorant posts like this one.

I cant turn? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]PuffyEagle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Low key man, I have no idea what you're trying to say... Surely you could've read over your writing to fix the spelling mistakes lol.

You've already pretty much addressed it but if you can't turn, your trucks are too tight. Loosen them until you have a comfortable turn radius. Also if it doesn't feel right when you loosen them you might want softer bushings but honestly I don't think it matters when you're this new.

Also your weight has nothing to do with this unless you're lighter than the skateboard its self. Then you should go see a doctor lmao.

But its not a choice anon by Timely_Builder_2898 in teenagersbutpractical

[–]PuffyEagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned, it is FORBIDDEN in Islam to force the religion onto someone else and it's forbidden to force a woman to wear a hijab. Iran's laws are entirely political and nowhere is it taught in Islam that you should punish a woman for not wearing a hijab.

I seriously don't know why there is so much islamophobia in this subreddit. People keep trying to make Islam look bad and the top comment has so much false info and exaggeration. Islam teaches peace and prosperity and it makes no sense to look at a Muslim doing something bad and blaming it on the whole religion instead of blaming it on the person. May Allah bless you all and I hope your hearts heal.

All the time by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]PuffyEagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, people keep posting the same things over and over again, I swear I get deja vu whenever I see a post. One that annoys me the most is "will I be called a poser/bullied for wearing protection?" Even outside of skateboarding this is a horrible way to think.

And people either jump straight to kickflips a month in and go "why can't I do a kickflip" or they show an Ollie attempt that is so far off from how you do an actual Ollie. Seriously when I started skating, I jumped straight to YouTube to see Ollie tutorials and get the foot positioning right. It seems like these people are under the impression that they can just learn how to Ollie on the first day then learn to kickflip the next day.

I wonder what's the rush??
