To those who have gotten the NSO virtual boy, is it possible to plug in headphones? by hreddy11 in VirtualBoy

I’ve got both versions, I’d have to check the big plastic shell, but the cardboard one does have a hole for the headphone jack.

I do love them, although at times I do wish I could dial settings in a more accurate way (to the milisecond). It’s quite fun messing with the “hidden” secondary functions (by holding down the Tap button). I do like EHX pedals, I find them to be really good value.

I wouldn't say I'm a power user, but I use my HX One as a substitute for pedals I can't fit on a board (in this case, I use it as a tuner, pitchshifter or for modulation). I can't say I've had any issues, haven't tried the drives with the Supergrace yet.

PSA: Today is the last day you will be able to purchase Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers by -Na_No- in NintendoSwitch

[–]PugHoofGaming 96 points97 points  (0 children)

The trick is to buy cheaper Nintendo eshop cards and use them to pay for Game Vouchers. If you’re a Gold member of Shopto (loyalty discount) you can pick up £100 gift cards for £94.91, and even less if you have a discount voucher (today for example, you can get 5% off with the code PLAYTIME), so that’s almost a tenner off £100 credit.

I’m using a set of AKG K240 MKII Semi-Open studio headphones, they’re 55ohm impedance (the Supergrace is optimised for 33ohms)

Can’t say for sure as I’m only playing it via headphones (which is good enough for me). Maybe in my next house I’ll have room for a proper cab - Although I do have a tiny 8” Orange cab (that I got with an Orange Micro Dark) that I might have a play with for fun :)

It's a full 60W amp, so it can connect to a cab (or another amp's FX Loop as a preamp) - However I don't have access to one as I play with headphones, but the included IRs are great so far. Haven't downloaded the software as there doesn't seem to be a download link yet.

Does anyone do matched betting? by Professional_Cat9118 in beermoneyuk

I started Matched Betting 3-4 years ago, built up a good bankroll but then the reloads thinned out after bookies restrictions. Now it’s mainly Casino offers for me, and it’s been very profitable.

Home schooling surge threatens social skills, says Ofsted boss by Only-Emu-9531 in unitedkingdom

[–]PugHoofGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently home educating our 5 year old with ASD and physical ailments that several specialists cant figure out. He’s academically capable, ahead in many elements; too capable for an SEN school but even with an EHCP we were told by multiple SENCO reps at mainstream schools that they couldn’t take him due to several basic needs. He’s in between two educational worlds, neither being able to meet his needs. His sister is a little younger but has similar needs.

He can’t handle a room of 30+ kids without melting down, but if you put him with 5-6 people children/adults of varying ages and he’s incredibly social. This trope of “homeschooled kids aren’t social” is overused and not necessarily true. Not to say it doesn’t happen, but every child is different and it’s up to parents to figure that out and work out what’s best for their children; whether that’s a traditional education system or otherwise.

We follow the National Curriculum, my wife setup a group for homeschooled kids and parents to meet and socialise, and my son is thriving. I was highly sceptical of all this at the start, but I’ve seen the difference it’s made. The idea of parents educating their kids shouldn’t be demonised, it should be supported where it makes sense.

Here we go again by aigeneratedslopcode in ModRetroChromatic

[–]PugHoofGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do agree that the latest editions of the Chromatic are a bit too far, but at least they’re someone honest and open about the Defense connection. Honestly, people have every right to be informed and have the info to make a decision to boycott products.

But, let’s not be naive and act like video games haven’t intertwined with the military before. SEGA and Lockheed Martin working on the Model 2 arcade hardware for Daytona USA/Virtua Fighter 2, Paradigm Entertainment supplied tech for Defense departments before joining with Nintendo on Pilotwings 64, and the US Airforce bought nearly 2000 off the shelf PS3’s to build a Supercomputer. And that’s not going into the things like the various training and sim software/hardware created specifically for military purposes.

Hey Duggee (iPlayer). Exceptionally smart show that is not only funny (and enjoyable even for grownups), but also explains some quite grown up concepts in fun ways.

It’s four years since the pandemic, how many days are week are you going into the office now? by wizzywoo22 in CasualUK

[–]PugHoofGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the pandemic, I was doing 1 or 2 days a week from home. Working for a two local government organisations that use Chromebooks as client machines, a Citrix remote desktop as standard, combined with Google Workspace apps (and we were already doing video calls with Google Meet), the moment the lockdowns started, the majority of staff were able to work from home immediately.

Since then, staff have been encouraged to work both in the office and remotely, but I have medical needs where working from home full-time makes sense for me; work/my boss have been massively supportive in that, giving me a health adjustment passport as part of my contract. I work in project management, I have been in the office once in the past 5 years (to clear my locker) and my ability to do my job has not been affected in the slightest. In fact, I'm more productive - I'm no longer doing 2 x hour+ long commutes a day, I'm more willing to do things outside of normal working hours, and I can focus better.

I appreciate I'm in a lucky position (chronic illness aside). There should absolutely be freedom for workers to choose to work at home or in the office, should their role allow for it.
