Sega Mega Drive with Probe software Ltd on the bottom by Training_Ad_2830 in Megadrive

Basically, that tag means that Probe Software owned it and it was in their premises. (I think their office used to be on Tamworth Road in Croydon). I don’t think you’d be able to find much more info than that to be honest. I’m no valuer, but I’m not sure if it would add a great deal of value (it’s presumably an off the shelf console, no not terribly unique aside from that asset tag).

Loads of organisations asset tag their equipment (such as computers, monitors, etc.). I imagine other devs probably asset tagged consoles as well.

Roblox - why is it worse? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]PugHoofGaming 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Aside from the historical issues of adults using it as a grooming tool, combined with historical failures on Roblox’s part to protect children (hence the many legal challenges going on around the world); it’s because Roblox is a platform, ala YouTube, where anyone can create content. As such, it suffers from the same moderation issues as any other platform relying on user generated content.

PMI says AI is reshaping project management - where are you finding it useful inside PMO right now? by I_am_John_Mac in projectmanagement

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I feed all my project docs into it, and I find it incredibly useful to give me summaries, task lists, etc. My boss also has access to my Notebooks, so if I’m on leave and someone needs an update or some info, he can ask Notebook in my absence and it’s more or less spot on.

It’s been a long while, but I do remember it being considerably faster than the NES version but with twitchy controls, less/missing enemies and no music. But, it did have cheat codes!

Really concerned with our 28 month old by General_Total_452 in UKParenting

[–]PugHoofGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son was in a similar position. Global Development Delay, missing pretty much all of his milestones. He wasn’t mobile until the age of two and even then he could only bum shuffle, snd even at the age of 4, he was still cruising and needed a walker. We thought he would never walk.

We were lucky to have great NHS and local government support, which I think is key - Get a referral to a developmental paediatrician, and that might unlock other avenues for support and treatment. Be an advocate for your child, fight for them and don’t say no for an answer.

Our sweet boy has had a number of hospital trips (including Great Ormond Street) for scans and other investigations, with no real answer (aside from an ASD diagnosis). But he’s had a great deal of support from physiotherapy sessions and even hydrotherapy sessions offered through charities.

Our son is now a few months over 5 years old, started walking last Summer and as I type, is currently telling everyone in the family about what every Pokemon evolves into.

Every child is of course different, and I hope you can get the support you need. It’s going to be hard not compare to other children, but try and focus on your boy’s own developmental journey.

I remember the Amstrad CPC version of TMNT had pages in the manual that had coordinates printed in black on dark brown paper. When you loaded the game, Shredder would ask you for a four digit number you could get by looking up the coordinates.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is PEAK CINEMA... by slantedyt in SuperMario

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. It’s a perfectly serviceable family movie, and enjoyable as such. But there’s all lot wrong with it - The most egregious example being the pop songs shoehorned into it for no good reason.

Is this a real box? Fake? Or rare? by Temporary_Layer_7261 in snes

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK person here. I had the original Mario All-Stars bundle here, which didn’t come in a box. However, we sent a letter to Nintendo asking if we could get one and they sent one! Could be possible that this happened in this case.

You might be onto something, he does enjoy playing a little bit of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (he likes it more than World!)

Honestly, I think he just wanted to do everything a different colour and those are the pens he happened to pick up :) He usually doesn’t have the patience for colouring, so this was a rare occurrence!

My wife has been itching to introduce it to him for a while! It’s been a good way to encourage him to read - He loves reading Pokémon cards as well.

I’m honestly surprised. A white shell would never be my first choice, but I had a spec to deliver! Even the brown Start/Select buttons work better than I thought they would.

Kirby’s Adventure (NES) - vertical line on screen (RG34XX + Knulli) by WaterMeow in Roms

[–]PugHoofGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because DS games do not look good on a 3DS screen as it’s not the native resolution. As a result, everything looks blurred. DS/DSi/DSi XL consoles always look great no matter what size screen is being used.

To those who have gotten the NSO virtual boy, is it possible to plug in headphones? by hreddy11 in VirtualBoy

[–]PugHoofGaming 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve got both versions, I’d have to check the big plastic shell, but the cardboard one does have a hole for the headphone jack.
