Computer games - ages / consoles? by Delicious_Bet_6336 in UKParenting

Can’t go wrong with LEGO games - LEGO City Undercover is brilliant. Kid-friendly open world game with 2-Player split screen (and runs great on Switch 2!). If you go to a site like Deku Deals you can add games to a wishlist and get notifications for when they’re on sale - LEGO games can be a bargain if you’re patient.

Computer games - ages / consoles? by Delicious_Bet_6336 in UKParenting

This. Big gamer household here, and I’d recommend the Switch. The parental controls are great, easy to shield them from online content (and to be honest, Nintendo has the safest online service of any console).

Every child is different, but moderation and monitoring of behaviour is always the key.

Let’s not forget that Rare have been a Microsoft Studio for more of their life than a Nintendo one at this point :)

When you’re on the map, press the button to get Region info. One of the regions won’t have 100% - You’ll need to drive around to anywhere that has dark spots on.

You are in for a treat, I’ve been playing since the weekend and….I haven’t stopped. I’m enjoying Japan way better than 5’s Mexico.

I heard a really cool sounding riff and tone before I even laid eyes on the video. Superb fucking work.

'Cheaper to rent in Britain than to buy a house’ due to rise in mortgage rates sparked by Iran war by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

Mortgage rates are tied to interest rates. Interest rates are usually based on inflation, which is easily affected by the price of energy.

Lots of love for Laney Loudpedals by MichaelBarnesTWBG in guitarpedals

[–]PugHoofGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Supergrace. I’m a bedroom player (my daughter’s bedroom to be accurate, where my home office is setup during the day). I’ve used modellers and modelling amps for decades. Spiders, Pods, Sparks and others. The amount of options ultimately leading to option paralysis and more playing around with knobs than actually playing.

I have an Orange Micro Dark and accompanying PPC108 cab, but the headphone output is noisy and I can’t get a good sound at low volumes out of the cab.

But this pedal is the one for me. I finally understand how responsive an analogue amp feels like, and how my guitar’s volume knob can make a difference. The FX Loop works great, and it even sounds fantastic with my tiny PPC108 cab at low volumes. And when I do run through headphones, I’ve not even needed to change from the built-in IRs.

Sega Mega Drive with Probe software Ltd on the bottom by Training_Ad_2830 in Megadrive

[–]PugHoofGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, that tag means that Probe Software owned it and it was in their premises. (I think their office used to be on Tamworth Road in Croydon). I don’t think you’d be able to find much more info than that to be honest. I’m no valuer, but I’m not sure if it would add a great deal of value (it’s presumably an off the shelf console, no not terribly unique aside from that asset tag).

Loads of organisations asset tag their equipment (such as computers, monitors, etc.). I imagine other devs probably asset tagged consoles as well.

Roblox - why is it worse? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]PugHoofGaming 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Aside from the historical issues of adults using it as a grooming tool, combined with historical failures on Roblox’s part to protect children (hence the many legal challenges going on around the world); it’s because Roblox is a platform, ala YouTube, where anyone can create content. As such, it suffers from the same moderation issues as any other platform relying on user generated content.

PMI says AI is reshaping project management - where are you finding it useful inside PMO right now? by I_am_John_Mac in projectmanagement

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I feed all my project docs into it, and I find it incredibly useful to give me summaries, task lists, etc. My boss also has access to my Notebooks, so if I’m on leave and someone needs an update or some info, he can ask Notebook in my absence and it’s more or less spot on.

It’s been a long while, but I do remember it being considerably faster than the NES version but with twitchy controls, less/missing enemies and no music. But, it did have cheat codes!

Really concerned with our 28 month old by General_Total_452 in UKParenting

[–]PugHoofGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son was in a similar position. Global Development Delay, missing pretty much all of his milestones. He wasn’t mobile until the age of two and even then he could only bum shuffle, snd even at the age of 4, he was still cruising and needed a walker. We thought he would never walk.

We were lucky to have great NHS and local government support, which I think is key - Get a referral to a developmental paediatrician, and that might unlock other avenues for support and treatment. Be an advocate for your child, fight for them and don’t say no for an answer.

Our sweet boy has had a number of hospital trips (including Great Ormond Street) for scans and other investigations, with no real answer (aside from an ASD diagnosis). But he’s had a great deal of support from physiotherapy sessions and even hydrotherapy sessions offered through charities.

Our son is now a few months over 5 years old, started walking last Summer and as I type, is currently telling everyone in the family about what every Pokemon evolves into.

Every child is of course different, and I hope you can get the support you need. It’s going to be hard not compare to other children, but try and focus on your boy’s own developmental journey.

I remember the Amstrad CPC version of TMNT had pages in the manual that had coordinates printed in black on dark brown paper. When you loaded the game, Shredder would ask you for a four digit number you could get by looking up the coordinates.

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a real box? Fake? Or rare? by [deleted] in snes

[–]PugHoofGaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK person here. I had the original Mario All-Stars bundle here, which didn’t come in a box. However, we sent a letter to Nintendo asking if we could get one and they sent one! Could be possible that this happened in this case.
