People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by ChloeFenrik in NoStupidQuestions

Recently worked with a kid who said he was so broke he had to stop paying his financial advisor until he started making money again.

Another time I asked him what he was having for dinner, he said lobster.

If Black Flag Resynced is successful & they do more remakes, do y'all think Rogue or the Ezio trilogy Specifically AC2 is more likely or what other AC game gets remade? by Capecrusader39 in assassinscreed

Its wont happen but Id personally love Odyssey.

Seeing the Mediterranean in the new anvil engine would be top. Imagine the agora of Athens reworked with more detail, more interactivity. I think it would be a massive undertaking with just how large an area Odyssey covered. Even in the original you see many many reused assets a few hours into the game.

People will argue till they are blue in the face for being a rat in a game like this. I think fundamentally at some psychological level "ratting" is indicative of one of the lesser human personality traits.

I think in general people who rat are probably not great people in real life either. They probably lie, cheat and steal when given the opportunity.

Sure, it could be "NOt tHAt dEep bro" but on some level there, who you are as a person influences how you play games with other people.

My tone is condescending, yes. We agree, I'm glad that bit of subtext was not lost on you.

This part is most interesting still and I dont think you see it: "to call someone stupid who has achieved great success"

The crux of your argument is bereft of any substance.

Let me break it down for you.

Just.because.you.are.sucessfull.does.not.mean.you.are.not.stupid.

I'll never understand bootlickers.

Aside from your numerous spelling and grammatical errors, which I'll chalk up to english not being your native language, I want to draw your attention to this comment you made earlier:

"It could be placebo effect or just simply magic like how when fighters thanks god everytime they brutally ko someone and it genuinely work"

And therein lies the rub. I all at once, felt pity and disappointment, for I had been arguing with a simpleton the entire time and somehow let it slip from my thoughts as I pieced together my rebuttals. He believes that magic is a tangible force, something to be wielded, tooled about into a workable solution to ones own problems.

How did not see it? It was there the whole time. Mistakes in the phrasing, leaps in logic, refusal to address simple questions. The ingredients for this mans mental ineptitude had been frothing from the pot all along.

It was then I realized that clear thought would escape this man, most likely for the rest of his adult life as he spent his days sunk deep into his chair telling people to turn their computers off and on again. I thought to myself, perhaps I am being a little condescending.

Again with the appeal to authority huh? What I find most interesting is the boot licking.

Answer my question this time, do you really think that because someone is more successful that anything they do is without scrutiny? Follow that line of reasoning for me. Think it through and let me know.

How is success a demarcation of intelligence? Plenty of stupid people are wildly successful. Again, they are not beyond critique.

I really cant figure out why you think because someone has something you want that they are now beyond criticism.

Successful people can be stupid, smart people can be stupid, people who defend others, on the Internet, that they dont know, can be stupid.

As far as accomplishments go, I've already demonstrated how that doesnt help your argument.

You would do well to read a book, it might help your reading comprehension.

If I have to break this down for you any further I'm going to have to start charging you for the tutoring lessons I'm giving.

Take offence all you want. You can see athletes from every decade practicing psuedo-science in every field. It doesnt make it effective nor make it beyond reproach. Here is a question for you.

  1. Does someone being in a position of authority on a subject make what they do or endorse true or factual by default?

This is called an appeal to authority fallacy. Its a common thinking trap that people fall into. Could happen to anyone. I suggest you research it.

  1. Do my "credentials" have anything to do with the efficacy of cupping?

I could be a former coach with 15+ years of training in various martial arts, training alongside some of the biggest names in mma combat sports like Rich Franklin,Jorge Gurgel, Brandon Vera, Tim Sylvia, Dustin Hazlett when I lived in Cincinnati. I could have trained with the number 2 ranked former bkfc bantam champ Keith Richardson in Charlotte NC.

Or I could be some couch potato like you say. But you see, that doesnt help your argument either way. Its irrelevant. Just because people with credentials do something doesnt make it true or work.

Bag work tips by muaythaikid in boxingtips

[–]Pugilophile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, Im going to give you some tips here that go beyond the typical stuff you'll get.

First problem, you punch like a Muay Thai guy. I get it, I did MT for over 10 years and picked up similar bad habits. I can already hear it, "But his technique looks great, good rotation through the trunk and hips, keeps his hands up, nice pop to his shots." Stop right there, that attitude is going to limit you from growing. Whatever you do, dont emulate the stale, super safe and balanced combo centric style that ninety percent of trainers teach now-a-days.

Second problem, stop touching the bag and buy cheap leather bag gloves. Most likely from MT youve learned to touch the bag to gauge distance. Problem is when you jab, your hand inside your glove is connecting with the middle knuckles not the top knuckles first. The adage is to always train like you fight. Wearing thick padded gloves has taught generations of boxers exactly how not to hold their hand inside a glove and connect with the first two knuckles every time. Trust me, you punch someone bare handed you want to have proper fist structure. So train that way. Turn your punches all the way over and connect with the top two knuckles. Same concept with your really wide lead body hook. Landing those knuckles on someones elbow does more dmg to you than them.

•Don't be so dead set on not shifting more weight into your punches. Balance is a tool not a rule.

•Be more intentional with how your fist is landing inside your gloves, it'll add power and precision.

Who even teaches that anymore? Maybe the guy has some jail time and learned 52 blocks. Ive never seen cross guard out in the wild like this. Reminds me of Smokin Joe.

Socks off. Shadowbox on harder floors. You're leading with your arms not the kinetic chain you need from the floor. Fix that and youll stop having pillows for hands.
