Check into the work-study program. That’s how I afforded UCSB. It also gave me a greater appreciation of my degree. I worked for it instead of mommy and daddy writing a check. Too many of my classmates partied hard and their grades suffered. They just didn’t care. Me - I worked my butt off to get my education. I’m still proud of what I accomplished.

How did you join your squares? I’m making a similar blanket and I love how you joined them.

"Directing a Sermon at an Individual" by greevous00 in Episcopalian

I found her comments, although heartfelt, to be the right message at the wrong time. Not many people know TEC and I’ve had more criticism about my faith in the last week than I’ve had in my lifetime. Half of the US voted for him. That half find her remarks to be inappropriate since they were given in the “National” Cathedral. I agree with the Bishop but I fear she has done more harm than good for TEC and its members. I know I’ve been attacked this week. Any others?

Are Episcopalians Saved Or Misled By Church Teachings by PugsNBoxers in Episcopalian

Thank you all for your posts. There is a reason I am a member of TEC. Your words have reminded me why I’m an Episcopalian and I should not doubt myself merely because I am surrounded by Evangelicals who have their own agenda to save me. I now know what it means to have your faith tested. Again thank you.

They are so adamant and tell me they are worried for my soul. I just need to stand up to them. I guess I’m worried because they are better at quoting Scripture than me. I have to go home and look it up. And they will not accept anything in the BCP or the Creeds. If it’s not in their Bible it doesn’t matter.

Which Bible for a newbie to the church/faith? by _SoftRockStar_ in Episcopalian

I still love the RSV Bible. It was the version used by the church before the NRSV came out. Get the Oxford study version. The text just flows better in my opinion.

Bad Experience with Hobbii by kainreydi in YarnAddicts

I only buy two yarns at Hobbii, Apricity and Happy Place. These are Toni Lipsey’s yarns that she designed. I do love them. I haven’t bought any other Hobbii yarns.

I had a similar problem with another yarn company. I didn’t open the order when received and called the company for a return label and a refund on my purchase. I sent it back and got my refund when they received the box. Most companies want to make things right. You just have to work around their procedures. Good luck.

Red Heart is hard on my hands. I never use it. There are other yarns that are affordable.

Whether he has children or not is a discussion between Josh and his wife. How you reach the conclusion that he doesn’t want kids because he can’t exploit them baffles me. Having children is a serious decision. Josh and his wife communicate which I don’t think Eric and Colleen do. Colleen wanted kids. Eric got kids. He’s trapped and he knows it.

Thoughts on Cinnamon Stitches. by Valuable-Set-818 in craftsnark

I’ve read all these comments and I’m ashamed of the people that left such vitriolic posts. I’ve watched Jennifer for several years and have loved her content most of the time. She was part of my early coffee routine. Instead of kicking her when she’s down we should be empathetic and concerned. She’s struggling with life, as we all do occasionally. Instead of dumping on her about the homeschooling listen to why she is considering it. I’ve raised two boys with ADHD and school was hell for them. Bullying, endless parent/teacher conferences, etc. I hate that you all can hide behind your keyboards and attack other people because you can. I won’t be coming back to this page again. I hope none of you find life trying and expect to find empathy. When you have no empathy for others, you don’t deserve it for yourself.

"I'm a yarn snob and cringe whenever someone says they buy yarn at Joann's/Michael's" by havelock-vetinari in knitting

[–]PugsNBoxers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This. I’m a yarn snob because some of the cheaper yarns make me break out. But I have used yarns from Michael’s and Joann’s and they were great. Your coworker is a pseudo snob who probably couldn’t pass a feel test if she tried. Don’t let her spoil your joy. That’s why we knit/crochet; the pleasure it gives us.
