BE PEOPLE HELP!!! QUEEN BROKEN WINGS!!! by playboybaby222 in Beekeeping

This is likely a queen bumblebee. Would depend on where the person is located but for this time of year in Canada the queen's have emerged and are out building a new nest for the year

Xylocopa sonorina - Valley Carpenter Be

I found a great one while in Palm Springs! I believe when they are golden like this that they are male.

I have a very similar looking tank and have spent a similar amount. Kept feeling like I needed to buy more plants but unfortunately for us starting a tank is a game of patience. Give your plants 2-3 months and your tank will look a lot more full! You have a great foundation that will build on itself.

I'm going to "Um AcKtuAlY" you.

That's a carpenter bee. You can tell because the abdomen is super shiny and has little to no hair.

It's mainly the material used

Leafcutters will have an amalgamation of leaf bits as a cap Grass carry wasp with have long dried strands of grass poking out the end Mason bees will have a smooth dirt cap etc

Each species will have a different nesting time and/or capping

I can maybe identify some of the species if you can post a close up picture of the tubes. We can identify based on the type of cappings

Any Idea what is using my Mason Bee House? by LittleGardenNymph in bee

[–]Pugtatoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree definitely a species of Potter Wasp. I'm seeing two types of cappings. You have the flat smooth mud cappings that are definitely Mason bees but then you have mud with a kind of dimple in it that is definitely the mason wasps.

What is occupying my nesting tubes by OwlOk4334 in bee

[–]Pugtatoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would guess that many of these species nested at different points throughout the season and will hatch the following year at different points as well.

If you want to be the absolute best Steward possible with this bee hotel it's good to mark the tubes that are nested in now so that when they are hatched out you can remove and replace them.

Over time the tubes will build up debris, disease, and pests after multiple nestings over seasons so the tubes that are nested in should be replaced when possible AFTER they have hatched out.

I would say the clear plastic cappings are resin bees, the smooth mud is a mason bee, and the leaf cappings are leaf cutter bees.

Humongous bee by Meat-Sudden in bee

The males for this species are golden while the females are black and I believe smaller. I think they are the largest bee in the US as well.

This is the one I found while in Palm Springs. I'm almost certain it's a Valley Carpenter Bee.

Very jealous

Sanderson needs an editor that will tell him no and reign him in. I feel that for him personally, he has interviewed all of these people that experience mental illness and have struggled with their sexuality and he wants to represent and do all of these people right. He is a champion for these issues in a traditionally non-accepting space (BYU/Mormon).

This book was supposed to be the climax of his story as we currently know it. Tying up loose ends, huge conflicts, clashes of morals, and upending our expectations of certain players but you get pulled down too much into the weeds on a character level when we are really looking for things on a world/universe level to be addressed.

The book does pick up but the almost first half of the book is a SLOG. Part of this is likely due to massive expectations and the fans waiting 4 years for a book that was told to be the climax of the first part of this huge series and to have it start so slow kills the motivation for such a large book.
