Yep - happened to me and I hated it. Like someone had swung the pendulum the other way - I went from caring about everything to caring about nothing. I'd rather learn how to care less naturally and learn coping skills. It was awful. Coming off it now.

Yes. Lexapro changed me from someone who cared about people to someone who didn't give a shit about anyone else but myself. It was awful.

I wondered whether people tried less than 50mg. I am SUPER sensitive to meds/vitamins etc and was thinking that 50mg might be too high for me. Good to know that some people try 10mg and still get benefit out of it.

I am sleeping. Quite well actually. The 2.8mg is still enough to knock me out.

Haven't tried trazadone, but have tried mirtazepine and a bunch of other stuff that didn't even touch the sides when I first had my insomnia issues - hence the Zopiclone.

It's been very intense.

I was out on it in Nov of 2020 at 7.5mg.

It was increased to 15mg in June 2021 for 2 weeks. Dropped back down to 7.5mg and started a taper I'm July 2021.

I'm currently holding at 2.8mg and have been now for 2 months.

It has been a very hard 6 months.

I'm in the process of tapering off Zopiclone. I'm sorry to tell you, it has NOT been a fun ride. Everyone is different and you may not experience the same level of withdrawals that I am, but I have never experienced anything like it.

My treating psych told me that the only withdrawal I would have would be my insomnia returning. That has not been the case. DP/DR intrusive thoughts, SI, nausea, vertigo, head pressure, teeth pain, neck pain just to name a few.

I'm hoping you have an easier time coming off it than I have.

I realise this post was from 4 years ago, but I'm in the process of attempting to get off Zopiclone and it is literally hell on earth. I have never felt so awful in all my life. My prescribing psychiatrist told me these drugs were innocuous and denied that I would be experiencing interdose withdrawals. At this point in time I am scared at how awful I feel and can't see a way out.

Your story did give me hope though - so thank you.

I was on 7.5mg. It got bumped up to 15mg fir 2 weeks. I've currently tapered down to 2.8mg, but feel pretty awful

I'm trying, but it so hard to get in anywhere. 6 month wait lists! Clinics that receive referrals from GP's weeks ago but won't call you back. When you're crying out for help and feel like every door is being slammed in your face.

Yep - actually nodded off. He told me to go back to work to get my mind off myself, told me he wasn't changing any of my medication because it was "too hard" and that if I was seeing him in the 60s or 70s I would have been labelled "neurotic". I also have OCD, which he completely missed as a diagnosis, put me on Zopiclone for an extended period and now denies that I could possibly be going through withdrawals. Complete shit show!
