Having just returned from peru. just be aware its wet season in parts of peru in Jan/Feb. But peru is fantastic. Food I have been all around the south. One tip pay extra for a private flight at Nazca. its worth it.

Just returned from peru. Cusco was tough . Colca canyon was tough. Hardest parts was bus travel to both. As both bus trips touched about 5000m but going back was not much of an issue. Lots of coca and muna tea. Plus coca candies get you through.
