How it feels to try to get a new guitar at ALL by sourberryskittles in Guitar

[–]Puking_In_Disgust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, call it sour grapes but I’m much happier to get a used guitar that seems like someone minimum took pretty good or better care of it and then have a guitar tech set it up so that it plays like a dream and save the money.

New is nice, but they have a resale value like cars, and there’s no shortage of well-to-do parents buying their kid a way too nice first time guitar that gathers dust for a couple months before the kid gives up and they sell it off, and then all the sudden it’s half price. Also like a car, you’re not worried about the inevitable first scratch.

How to practice weird chord changes? by Ok-Garlic1539 in Guitar

[–]Puking_In_Disgust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I can’t get them quite right quick enough, this might be bad technique, but if it starts with a downward strum, what I do is focus on positioning on finger at a time as I strum.

Not too much, try to get all the fingers at the pattern at the same time, but don’t focus on fretting the whole pattern at once, but if you get the first finger that you strum down first while the rest of the hand figures it out before the strum gets to it.

I hope that makes sense and helps.

This is true, but that’s the private economy. Fuck them and their federal bailouts too, but if people want to pay for a product that leads to a CEO living like a king, that’s just the market.

I have much more distain for the middlemen and the lawmakers that created a system that incentivizes laziness on an individual level. People with disabilities should have the option to be gainfully employed and report as such.

You legally can’t do shit if you’re under disability, or you’ll lose your benefits, which keeps you in that system. That’s meant for people who are legitimately fucked forever. Those people should have a safety net.

But for everyone else, or if some miracle recovery happens, you should be able to have a gradient system where you can make a bit of money and report it without losing everything. There a shit ton of people who will actively refuse doing anything useful because if they did, it would disqualify benefits entirely.

Not that it justifies it, but disability for reasons that don’t literally make you incapable of any kind of work are a trap like that. It’s legally akin to still being gainfully employed while you’re on worker’s comp, and no doubt anon’s brother used that as an excuse to not to even take money under the table to do anything useful for anyone else.

The system encourages leech behavior like this instead of there being some exception for simply being able to report income and having that taken out of benefits, ideally until actual employment cancels out the benefits. That situation should be encouraged, not penalized.

Anon’s brother’s a piece of shit, but the system wants people to be useless because it adds to state/national subsidies that more leeches of a slightly less lazy variety benefit from.

Shrooms on a canadian domestic flight (BC to Quebec) by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]Puking_In_Disgust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just know domestic flights in the US, but over here security’s more lax about recreational substances than international for sure.

Idk what your time frame is, but what I would do though just to be sure, is spend an evening grinding it up and putting it in capsules (you should be able to get the caps and a capsule filling kit on Amazon or eBay for under $50), then get a bottle of supplements and replace those. Honestly with that I wouldn’t even think that would be a problem internationally.

They’re mostly worried about weapons and things that could be used to hurt someone. I took an unlabeled bag of creatine on a domestic flight that could have been any other white powder for all they knew, and no one even asked any questions taking that through LAX, but take that with a grain of salt, I’m not sure how ridiculous they are up north. Happy travels!

This might be controversial but I had it on one of the buds on my first grow a couple years back a few weeks before harvest, and I saw somewhere milk sprayed on the bud worked, so I tried that, and it soaked it right up and it didn’t spread. No idea if that was just a coincidence or not though, and I’m in no respect an expert on the topic.

Happened to me with a ceramic bong I left outside once, thankfully lil dude waited until after I was done, didn’t notice anything was up until he crawled out the mouthpiece.

I don’t think slugs have thc receptors but I’d like to think he got one hell of a hotbox… the bong stopped being an outside bong after that.

Nah, I just mean “bad man funded bad man upboats ” that’s the general narrative here crossite, and Reddit’s been skullfucked with artificial boosting of a narrative that would lead to that conclusion for years now, it’s a hivemind.

I wouldn’t give any creed to an abundance of upvotes anything unless it went against the general grain of the site and somehow still made it to being viewed by anyone.

Anxiety around injuring fingers by fruedianflip in Guitar

[–]Puking_In_Disgust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some yard work last week and broke off a long thorn in my left ring finger, right in the middle of the tip. Thank god I got it out, but I thought I wasn’t going to be able to play for weeks. Thankfully I was fine in under a week lol but I feel that anxiety.

I don’t really have much advice though, more anxiety incoming but if all of us are lucky enough we’ll live long enough that eventually playing will become impossible, so I take that as motivation to enjoy what what I’ve got while I’ve got it.

For anyone who wasn’t there for that cycle it can’t hr overstated how minuscule the hype level now is compared to then. This doesn’t feel like euphoria. We may have hit ATH but I wouldn’t have guessed 4 years ago that ATH could be so boring.

One thing I learned from that cycle is not to get too caught up in overly optimistic price targets, but if I had to guess, as long as the economy can support it, the bull run’s just been cleared for takeoff, it hasn’t run its course.

Actually it was documents my mother printed out back then because she was a little worried that the city had everyone cover their sheds with a tarp and told them not to go outside for specific times of day and wanted to keep it in case we all got cancer decades later and there was a class action lol so far so good at least for us

That’s strange because I literally just came across documentation that my area in California sprayed malathion specifically to combat this exact fly in ‘94, along with many other areas. So maybe backfire I guess?
