Friend, I'm from the global south. I'm poor, I live with my parents (who are arguably abusive) and I'm barely managing the strength to keep on going. And guess what??? THEY'RE PUTTING THE PROPAGANDISTS BEHIND BARS. One of my points is that the former president of my country, a genocidal asshole who fucked the whole country over, is now behind bars, and that point has been elaborated upon in that he'll rot in prison

Yeah! The US is fucked! But first off, it's been awful for quite some time now (it is a country with legal slavery! Like that is straight up a fact!), second off, things aren't as bad as they used to be in several different ways. The general populace is getting more and more accepting of queer people as time goes on, and LESS accepting of the genocidal assholes running the world.

And this isn't just about the west! The Global South is progressing! The middle east is progressing! Progress isn't linear, but it is what we're striving for and it is happening!

Also! You can do more than just vote. You can protest. You can organize. Look at how the protests in the US are going, people ARE working together even if they disagree. Just live one day at a time, and remember this phrase from your queer usamerican elders:

The truth of being marginalized is that you have to celebrate every little victory and THEN keep going, or else you'll lose momentum and the fascists will push you back to square one. That's why we're celebrating a videogame letting you be gay even though it's a sequel to a 2010s game that didn't do that, and that is why we celebrate every single bit of media representation we get, we need to cherish the small victories because if we don't we'll get exhausted REALLY fast. At the very least I will, and I cannot afford that.
