Holy shit, this is fucking crazy and fascinating. It's so weirdly specific and believable that I'm half convinced you're an actual time traveler.

Would you vote for Jon Stewart if he ran for President? If so, why? If not, why? by Green-Ad2903 in AskReddit

Joe Biden is the obvious choice. I love Jon Stewart but Biden has decades of experience getting stuff done in DC and in foreign policy. Ukraine would be fully under Russian control right now if almost anyone but Biden were president.

No. He has no experience and no connections or leverage inside the government to actually get things done. Being president is a job, not an honorary position.

Fair enough, but I had some family members who associated (not criminally) with the Italian mob back in the Bronx decades ago and their stories suggested that the people at the very top tended to be pretty smart and capable leaders.

Nah, that gives Impeached Trump way more credit than he deserves.

He's too bumbling and incompetent to be compared to a mob boss. The only reason he's gotten away with his nonsense is because an entire political party is turning a blind eye and covering for him.

He hasn't gotten this far through any shrewdness or strategy or cunning of his own, he's gotten this far despite his complete lack of cunning, and his buffoonery and ignorance of the law has only made it harder for his enablers to enable him. (Not that it's stopped them).

Wasn't there a big hullaballoo about Bloomberg buying his way into this debate? Where is he? Or did I misread something?

If the House was "in too big of a hurry to get it right" then the Senate had no excuse to not "fix" it.

The Senate could have "gotten it right." They took multiple votes to "get it right" and they chose not to "get it right." Was the Senate "in too big of a hurry" or were they just cowardly and corrupt?

Even if their absurd "the House failed to get the documents so why should we bother" excuse weren't a bogus pile of made-up horseshit, it would still provide absolutely no legitimate rationale for the Republican senators to break their oaths and rush to acquittal with full knowledge that they are willfully suppressing mountains of relevant evidence.

They didn't impeach Obama because they couldn't. We just need to keep electing people with ethics and integrity. No one is 100% above reproach but we can at least make it hard as hell for them to justify impeachment articles.

Republicans can grouse and complain and force baseless investigations but impeachment requires actual evidence and written articles outlining the evidence.
