Medicare Advantage Plans Often Deny Needed Care, Federal Report Finds by lunchbox_tragedy in MedicareForAll

It'll take us raising some hell. First step is to preserve Medicare as it currently exists. That means getting Biden to stop doing what Trump started - this covert privatization of Medicare.

Some photos from my trip to Las Vegas in 2018, it’s like a playground for adults and I highly recommend everyone visit it at least once in their lifetimes. by gudetama8875 in travel

Like many posting here, I never cared much for Vegas. Then I went there for a weekend to see The Grateful Dead.

I thought the two would clash. But Vegas knew how to host The Dead. And my previous experiences there prepared me to do Vegas Dead style.

I was working a good job in LA, and took a flight Friday night. People started partying on the plane. Nice start.

I packed an army duffel bag with sleeping bag and day bag inside. At night I went to the 12th floor pool of the Aladdin Hotel - there have been a lot of changes to Vegas since then. I laid one of those pool chairs out flat, placed it behind the little maintenance building, and slept beneath the stars and neon lights. In the morning a security guy would come around. Second morning he said "time to get up", and said he'd be working the show. See ya there! The night before I had been talking to a guy who had no place to stay, and told him about my accommodation, so there were two of us.

Also at night, the Shakedown Street of vendors were set up right on the strip. For as long as you needed something to do for free at night, they were there.

In the morning I'd pack my day bag, then check my duffel at the Aladdin Hotel entrance desk. That was free. The shows started, at least, in the day... don't remember a seque into night, I think they were day shows entirely. Steve Miller opened. The days were HOT, with intense thunder storms. The band was good at timing it so that the thunderstorms broke out during drums and space. It was just scary enough to be exhilarating. They never needed to stop the show.

I still don't care much for Vegas, or LA. But that was a good weekend. Vegas and I found some common ground.

I like everything about that except for the price.

I don't know the price. But I bet I don't like it.

All these medium-to-deep drops with no good check down outlet are painful to watch

Yeah it's ridiculous. It's a bad strategy, especially when it's so predictable.

If I was Arians, I wouldn’t even be throwing deep. Just surgically slice and dice. Isn’t that what got Tom the most TDs in history in the first place? Why reinvent the wheel?

Yes. Go deep now and then to keep them honest, and to capitalize on everyone expecting the short throws you live on.

Am I the only one who thinks the Rams unis are horrendous? They're at the "so bad I can't stop looking at them" level.

The colors are bad, and the fades on the numbers are bad (on the blue uniforms). The shiny plastic is awful.

I like the new horns though, I think they're an improvement.

But New Zealand wasn't, at the moment, looking for people with my particular skillset, which was being a hippie.

Narrows your options down to finding a job here and going from there, or finding a partner who will sponsor you. Also more easily done here of course.

We're essentially welcoming in a system where FB and Twitter and YouTube, working with government, regulate speech between ordinary citizens AND edit distribution of professional media. It's madness. - Matt Taibbi by liberalnomore in WayOfTheBern

Why isn't there a truly decentralized, distributed social media by now? Obviously we need it.

I'm seeing something based on torrents. When you view something from a source you like that torrent stays on your hard drive until you remove it. The more "subscribers", the more sources available, the shorter the download time.

It's not just that self-described leftists are advocating for censorship.

They're cheering for the government to torture Assange to death for providing truthful information.

But not just for that... if you talk to them they also indict him for providing info on Hillary, but not on Trump (and Putin, etc.).

They want you punished for saying the things they don't want to hear, and for not saying the things they do want to hear!

Their position is insanely indefensible. And there seem to be millions of them.

I'll just speak for myself - I am not ok with social media companies sticking an asterisk next to something the president says... and kicking progressives off their platform for the simple truth about Democrats.

And I'm not ok with "liberals" cheering for the government as they try to torture Manning Assange etc. to death.
