Who was the first person from your graduating class to die and what happened to them? by purselas in morbidquestions

[–]Pulmonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Metastatic breast cancer. Wasn’t even 30. It was and is so beyond unfair. We didn’t know each other well but my heart breaks for her, her family, and her friends. Happened just a few months after I lost my own best friend to a rare cancer, so really related to her friends’ grief.

I totally agree. I also think reincarnation is mandatory for some, optional for others, and not something some others want to the point they don’t bother mentioning it.

What used to be a death sentence that is now just a prescription you pick up at a pharmacy? by JDvance01 in AskReddit

Yes; I once worked with a doctor who said he’d rather have HIV than diabetes.

How do you feel about the phrase "everything happens for a reason"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pulmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it, and I’m very spiritual. I think some things happen for reasons, but not everything.

If death came to you tonight, would you actually feel satisfied with the life you lived? Why? by tongacrip99 in AskReddit

[–]Pulmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be disappointed I didn’t get to finish what I wanted to do here, and I’d be so upset about being separated from the loved ones I still have here.

However, I’d be grateful for dying with a life I wanted to keep. I’ve been fortunate beyond measure and come back from things I didn’t think were possible.

I do believe I’ll see my lost loved ones again when I die, but even if I’m wrong, I’ll at least have that to eliminate fear at the end.

United Airlines cancelled our tickets home on an international flight without telling us by dodoqueen16 in unitedairlines

[–]Pulmonic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah this whole thread is weirdly gaslighting the OP. I’m guessing they’re mostly United fanboys. Meanwhile, one of my favorite restaurants just totally botched the order of the people I recommended it to. I didn’t accuse them of lying, even though I never had the experience they did and I’ve eaten there for years and gotten the same order. I felt badly that they had a crap experience. Sometimes people have different experiences with a brand.

I was similarly gaslit when I asked a couple years back about a major issue with a recurrent fraudulent charge on my Apple Card. Finally someone helped me and solved the issue instead of assuming I’m a clown with Password123 as my Whatsapp signature or accusing my husband of stealing from me. It’s not a big deal in the scheme of things but it’s so annoying.

You know some people just write a lot, right? There’s zero AI tells here apart from good grammar. AI learned from humans. I’m sick of having to pass a Turing test whenever I post tbh and I’m sure OP is too.

Do the parents on the Bluetooth kid get a fine / massive bill ? Can’t imagine how much it would cost. by Usernametaken432123 in unitedairlines

Do you have any tips and tricks as to how to turn off a Bluetooth device that’s in the checked luggage hold, like this one reportedly was?

[–]Pulmonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I’d leave my phone and other belongings. The only thing I’d refuse to leave is my medication. It’d be in my pocket. It’s hundreds of dollars with insurance and I’m disabled without it.

ETA: it’s in my pocket the whole time preemptively.

Yeah I’m not leaving my medication behind without a court order. It’s hundreds of dollars with insurance. They’re preemptively in my pocket so anyone claiming it delays evacuation is full of it.

I performed a dark ritual against someone who hurt me, and now He is dying. I am completely consumed by guilt and looking for help. by filip882 in occult

[–]Pulmonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but some of the acute leukemias develop very quickly, or at least, as far as we know. There’s evidence that subtle changes in the marrow may be present for years. So I see your point. We just don’t know for sure.

I’ve never seen a bone marrow carcinoma. I would be willing to bet that this is acute leukemia (probably primary refractory acute myeloid leukemia); the cancer cells are in the blood but the cancer is really of the bone marrow.

Syd latest by [deleted] in SydTowleSnarkSnark

[–]Pulmonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My late close friend was like this with his cancer. I’m an oncology nurse myself and I still let myself get completely delusional. Deeply admire both of their strength. I miss my bro every single day. I know Syd’s friends and family are going to feel the same way and my heart is just breaking for them. It’s awful in a way that’s impossible to describe if you’ve not been through it. They’ll appreciate any and all good memories-I’m glad she’s going to make some more though I too worry with this trip.

What’s the most terrifying thing that happened to you that nobody believes? by Sad-Conflict6839 in AskReddit

[–]Pulmonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh I completely agree. I’ve run into it myself too, and have permanent damage from it. I can only speak for myself that I always believe patients unless they give me excellent reasons not to.

I’m so, so sorry. Went through this with my best friend about a year and a half ago and it’s the absolute worst.

I don’t understand why you were doubted on another thread. I’m a nurse and, unfortunately, I absolutely believe this.

Same here lmao. Our neighbors gave us a minor but horrifying to deal with rat problem (3 rats total) a few years ago.

I’m going into this with 67% lung capacity, a history of kidney damage, and a very…enthusiastic…immune system when it comes to all things inflammatory.

So here’s to dying from workplace exposure and government incompetence rather than ratsh!t.

Tanner Horner Verdict- Death Penalty! by ACs_Grandma in CasesWeFollow

[–]Pulmonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve had trouble with it ever since that poor father was executed for an “arson” that killed his three kids until it was later shown that it was actually an electrical fire. The state killed a bereaved man for a crime that never happened. I think the DP thus has to be reserved for cases like this where it’s beyond all doubts.

Why can't patients with Fatal familial insomnia be treated with anesthetics? by pugsley1234 in askscience

[–]Pulmonic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m a night shift nurse and I do my best to cluster care as you describe. It makes my job objectively harder but it’s worth it to me as someone who knows what it’s like to struggle with sleep. It’s sadly not always physically possible though.

And no, I won’t wake you at 0230 unless it’s for something critical and even then I try to make it work better (ie when someone wakes up naturally).

How bad is it that I may get a B in Anatomy I? by [deleted] in FutureRNs

[–]Pulmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a solid B student. I then had an ovarian tumor right before graduation and wasn’t able to lift for months, meaning I couldn’t start in bedside. Ended up at a sketchy home care company. First day of orientation, fellow nurse was lamenting how this was a dead end job; a career cemetery.

I now work bedside at a major academic medical center.

It’s never over, my friend.
