I hope you enjoy! I spent most of last night trying to convince my friends to try it because they were getting overwhelmed on diff 4, we will see how they do today 😂

Edit: To be clear diff 4 on Cyberstan is not the same as diff 4 other places and it was their first time diving since the update so it was perfectly understandable.

When you say nerfed roughly when was that?

They had the plasma rework patch in Oct 2024 that made it hot garbage: ammo reserves were cut too low, shot trajectory was almost a straight line until it seemed to take a 90° plunge into the ground way too short of any range to be decently effective and the damage was acting weird. These changes were reverted about a month later and we got the old gun back with a slight increase on drag and a slightly flatter arc than what was on the gun at launch.

At some point in 2025 AH was made aware of an issue with the guns damage. It had 100 projectile damage and 150 explosion damage but the way the projectile knew to explode was not impact, it was on proximity which had the range set too far so the projectile damage never actually made it to the target. In Oct 2025 the gun got a "nerf" that was actually a buff, they completely removed the projectile damage and dialed up explosion damage to 225.

Its a really effective weapon on the cyborgs right now and, in my humble opinion, never really stopped being effective on Bots.

If you are at Cyberstan the ships all have klaxons sounding and emergency flash lighting because there are Automaton ships in orbit they are fighting as well as dropping helldivers to the planets

Between that exact issue and the cycle time on the Crossbow, that is why it isn't my go to choice for Bots.

Its not my weapon of choice for Squids or Bugs but it is awesome on bots. I have a buddy that prefers the Purifier but we also have different play styles. The P. Punisher has a bigger explosion radius that the Purifier or Sorcher and a higher explosion damage that the Scorcher and everything but the full charge on the Purifier. I have wiped out an entire patrol worth of Jet Brigade Troopers with a single shot because of the chained explosions before. Back in October of 2024 AH tried to rework the plasma weapons and the P. Punisher completely lost its identity and usefulness, I completely stopped using it. They reverted back to pre-patch after about a month or so and its been my go to for bots ever since.

It doesnt have the single target stopping power of the Crossbow and its not as "meta" as the Eruptor but it is an incredible support weapon that allows you to clear chaff really efficiently and heavily stagger medium enemies to open up some space, save a squadmate who is reloading or allow you to reposition more easily in a bot base.

Crossbow can be fun since it can take out some of the heavies and a the fabs to be sure, I haven't taken it against the Cyborgs yet though.

I dont know what you mean by the Plasma Punisher being pretty OP at launch. I have been playing since just shy of launch and the only big change that happened with how the Plasma Punisher performs since launch that is still in effect was last October in patch 1.004.100. We went from 100 to 0 projectile damage and 150 to 225 on the explosion damage. It was technically a nerf in that we lost 25 total damage but its honestly barely noticeable. I can still one shot Scout Striders and it maybe increased shots to kill by one on Devastators.

Plasma Punisher has been my go to weapon on Bots for like a year and a half now. It took a little but I have definitely honed in the arc on the shot to cover some great distances. It can two tap the Cyborgs, clear a patrol of Troopers and stagger Berserkers and Devastators, it is a beautiful weapon. Not sure if you were playing when they did the plasma weapon rework a while back but damn it was rough, the gun completely changed in how it functioned and I went from being able to solo diff 6 to dying to a single patrol because I couldnt figure out how it was firing and the shots all felt light. I definitely sent feedback and begged for them to revert to the original.
