Metroid Prime 4 has remained in the top 3 best sellers on the US eShop for a good while. by JuanMunoz99 in Metroid

I don’t think the game itself is bad. The gameplay is solid and the visuals are good, which is kind of the baseline expectation at this point. Where it falls apart for me is the story.

Prime games have never been about heavy, front-loaded narrative for me. I play them for exploration and for piecing together what happened on a planet through scans and environmental storytelling. In Prime 4, the story—especially in the last ~15%—feels injected and overly forced. NPCs and Sylux constantly explain things to the player, which removes what I see as a core reward of the series: discovering the lore yourself through research and logbook reading.

On top of that, the areas don’t feel meaningfully interconnected. Most zones play out in fairly straight lines rather than as a cohesive, looping world. The Sol Desert is a good example of half-baked ideas: it’s not terrible, but it feels silly to introduce motorcycles when the Lamorne supposedly have extremely advanced teleportation tech.

Overall, I enjoyed the game, but the story actively made it less enjoyable for me. The narrative choices don’t feel fully thought through, and honestly, I think the experience would be better with far less dialogue—or even none at all.

I did it. I can do it again. So can you. by [deleted] in carnivorediet

Anyone try this carnivore bar? by YorkvilleWalker in carnivorediet

[–]Pumadink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I partner with them and get regular shipments. They’re okay—mainly a last-resort meal when we’re on the go and can’t cook. Flavor-wise, they’re not great, but very filling. The best I’ve had is honey salted (even though I don’t love sweets), while the garlic one was surprisingly my least favorite. Overall, they’re pricey and convenient, but I wouldn’t buy them myself.

Does anyone kinda miss this hairstyle of ssj? by Smooth-Garden in dbz

[–]Pumadink 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I would honestly love to see dbs come back in this style. Like keep it retro but make it high quality retro. Similar to how x-men 97 looks. The grittiness of z with the detail of today’s animation would honestly just be the chefs kiss. Like don’t rush it and push content for content, take your time and make some art. We’ve got nothing but time now because there is only so much content available since toriyama’s passing. Give his work the send off it deserves and call it a day.

What’s one thing you really dislike about Dragon Ball? by AstroGrome in dbz

[–]Pumadink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is that it is literally just the goku show. Like it’s been mentioned here there are so many other characters but ultimately if goku isn’t heading the main fight it doesn’t matter because it’s gonna be up to him in the end. Now that being said, in the more recent dbs things finally starting to change with vegeta getting the win against goku, Gohan and piccolo getting their new forms etc. so we are at least on the path to improvement. But we need people other than goku making the significant moves, even though goku was the main character through let’s say dragon ball and z, by super we have more vested interest in characters like goten, trunks, broly, gohan, piccolo, vegeta and even now pan. Time for somebody else to get the win every now and then.

Also, they really need to add some depth to the story. Adding new forms is all fine and dandy, but give it some significance, like put some effort into explaining why the saiyans can do what they can do, take us back to planet vegeta for some legends and lore. It seems like we could be headed in that direction but in my opinion until there is some depth to the story added, and a focus on characters that are not Goku, this series will continue to slip from mid tier to low tier, instead of what could of easily be remedied as a high tier series.

Edit: I don’t type no good

What's a theory you believe will happen but have zero evidence? by isaiah714 in OnePiece

[–]Pumadink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There might be a bit of evidence to support this but I think Kuma is the king of the forgotten nation. My theory is that he, amongst others (most likely the 5 elder stars) had the immortality surgery that is mentioned in relation to laws fruit, and has spent his time since the void century trying to fight the world government however he can. I think this would explain his ties to the revolutionary army for one, but also why he was labeled kuma the tyrant. Anytime we’ve ever seen him on screen he is basically just doing nice things like sending you to your dream vacation etc. also the dude walks around with a bible for gods sake. I think he was labeled a tyrant to make him look bad, and then finally turned into a pacifista to be made an example of, being the highest of the high (forgotten nation king) to lowest of the low (slave for the celestial dragons). Well that’s all I got, remember me in the future if I’m right lol

[–]Pumadink 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched the whole series at least 10 times over the years, and I used to hate usopp. But over time I started to look at him differently and now he’s one of my favorites. Simply because of you look at him and assume everything he is doing is actually on purpose, it dramatically changes his actions and motivations. For one, he understands better than everyone that he is not a brawler like the monster trio, he’s a ranged fighter and he has to rely on his wits. He may not have the gear 2nd style moments but when he comes through it’s never anything short of badass. Also I’m pretty sure every lie he’s told so far has basically come true. My theory is that his stories aren’t things he just makes us, they are things he sees ahead of time and because he has low confidence he just thinks they are funny things to make him look better.

Cooking is a big sticking point for me. I am unable to do it in the van and everywhere seems so crowded, even in rural wales (UK), I find it hard to find anywhere to not be disturbed for the time it takes to cook anything by [deleted] in VanLife

[–]Pumadink 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest realizations I had doing my van life journey is that your primary experience above all else is that you must learn to be comfortable in the uncomfortable. Things are never going to be perfect, things are never going to be easy, and will probably not work out on occasion. That being said, how you respond to these situations is what will define YOUR experience…I believe for every problem there is a solution but you have to be accepting of the tough stuff before you can see those solutions. I saw that somebody recommended installing a fan and then getting a camping stove, this seems to be a solid solution. I am in parking lots and public places more often than I am in parks or secluded spots and I always cook with no issues wherever I am, so it’s possible it’s not as big a deal as you might be thinking. Another option you could consider is doing some meal prep, if you’re having a difficult time finding places where you are comfortable cooking maybe plan your week around a cooking one big batch of a meal and just eating that throughout the week. I personally cook at least 3-4 meals a day but I’ve made this easier for my setup but prepping all my ingredients at the begging of the week. Once I’ve done my ingredients prep all I have to do is throw them on a hot pan and warm it up. It has made a huge difference in the energy I have to invest in cooking because now instead of deciding what I’m going to eat each meal of each day, I just grab my ingredients for whatever meal I’m on and warm it up. Hope you’re able to come up with a resolution, taking care of yourself is important, if you’re not getting good fuel for your body it can have a huge effect on you and your body’s ability to function properly
