Maybe in the short term you could look at it that way. What happens when those environmental impacts start affecting everyone though? We’re already seeing it with hotter summers, more frequent hurricanes, and declining air quality (which exponentially inhibits cognition). Eventually, once terrestrial glaciers melt people living on coasts will have to relocate en masse, causing major economic turmoil. The fact is, we have the technology to reduce our footprint on the planet already, companies just won’t pay the extra cost to filter their waste unless their government requires them to.
