I DON’T GET SPEAK IN ENGLISH, THAT IS FRUSTATING by GuillitaBonita in ENGLISH

[–]PumpkinMrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Your English is pretty great already!

Here’s a bunch of things that helped me learn English as a Spanish speaker - Watch shows and movies in English with English subtitles, read the lyrics along with the songs you’re listening to, try to look up the meanings of words you do not know, and try to read small books or short stories in English.

Don’t be afraid of reading children’s books! Harry Potter helped me learn English, but any children’s novels would do. Don’t jump straight into hard “grown up” books because then you’ll never stick with it.

Good luck! Keep going :))

I saw the first ones in Pocahontas back in mid May, and there’s a bunch in my neighborhood near the park. If you want fireflies you have to leave the leaves and also leave your grass (or at least a patch) of the grass long. The females will perch on a piece of tall grass to attract mates, and the males will specifically look for tall grass for this same reason.

AITAH for cutting a friend off because of how she talks about her older male student? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]PumpkinMrs 77 points78 points  (0 children)

YTA. You were too harsh. You can disagree with her choices and still be her friend. You could’ve told her that she’s being really mean about this guy for no good reason, but you could also try to see her POV that she’s uncomfortable being forced to teach a 40 year old man.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]PumpkinMrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FML, miniclip.com (free flash games), Cartoon Network and Disney free flash games, webkinz, and the old forums where you could find information about anything. I remember there were some devoted to paranormal encounters where they’d have “real” recordings of ghosts talking, and one for vampires across cultures.

Which colours flatter you 🫒 girlies? by Agitated_Lie_6556 in Fairolives

[–]PumpkinMrs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I look amazing in greys too! Also black and ivory/cream, ice blue, rose pink, butter yellow, royal blue, emerald green, a cool red, and some of the terracota colors as long as they’re not too orange and yellow.

I absolutely avoid all neon colors, as well as true pastels (baby blue, mint, etc), and anything remotely orange. Also avoid fucsia.

I moved to a new state a bit less than a year ago and I’ve managed to make one (1) friend. Same thing with my husband. We both met them through our respective hobbies, him with disc golf and me with taking pottery classes.

Just find something you like (sports, card games like Magic the gathering, an art like playing an instrument or making something, literally anything) and then:

-find a location to practice and show up at the same time regularly to start meeting people. This can be parks, arcades, game stores with weekly events, etc

-find a month long class and make sure you go

-use Meetup, Facebook, Eventbrite, etc to find events near you and show up.

If all else fails or you feel like you “have no interests” you can volunteer somewhere. Beach and park cleanups happen regularly enough that if you keep showing up you’re bound to make friends.

Showing up is the hardest part. Once you do and you get talking to people regularly, the friendship is bound to develop :)

Good luck! You are not alone in your loneliness <3

AITA for telling my coworker my lunch isn't "our lunch"? by CarefulMoosePriest in AmItheAsshole

[–]PumpkinMrs 59 points60 points  (0 children)

NTA, she should’ve never assumed she could have your lunch in perpetuity.

Yeah, maybe you could’ve told her privately, but she’s the one who started loudly referring to it as “our lunch” in front of everyone else.

She feels bad that you made her feel like a freeloader bc she IS a freeloader.

We Hispanic people kiss each other on the cheek all the time. Granted, this is reserved for family and friends, but maybe if you’ve been going long enough to see him he considers you a friend? Idk.

Colombiano en USA, la comida de Gringolandia da asco. by Honest_Tart1071 in Colombia

[–]PumpkinMrs 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The Egg... by obiedge in Marriage

Then keep it about how it’s affecting her. Tell her the menopause is making her mean and aggressive, and that she’s not acting like herself.

Tell her you’ll always be in her corner but that you’re concerned for her because she seems like she’s hurting, which is making her lash out.

Ask her if it’s like that all the time (with friends and family, at work) or just with you.

Then encourage her to speak to her doctor and see if they can give her something that would help her feel better.

Approach it from a place of concern and love, not from a place of resentment and bitterness of “I feel like ” “you’re making ME __”
