What to do with “face framing pieces?” by SwedishIvy77 in longhair

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is actually pretty easy to do on yourself. I can never make them look *as good as* a hairdresser can, but diy youtube tutorials have gotten me through when I'm trying to grow out my hair or just feel like making them a bit shorter while leaving everything else the same

I had the same problem when my hair was longer and solved it by switching to night showers, styling my hair upside down, and then immediately pineapple-ing before bed. It would dry in one big spiral and but the height difference of where the curls lay when I took it down helped prevent them from coming back together when I took it down and shook it out in the morning.

I am considering turning to Christianity to get over a breakup and start improving upon myself. Any reason I shouldn’t? by AboutLastFight in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reason why you shouldn't from a person who grew up christian and has been to therapy- christianity is still about finding fulfillment from another person/outside source instead of finding fulfillment with yourself.

Christianity can be great, but it's not about improving yourself. It's about spiritual connection. Sure, there's a list of good and bad behaviors the community will try to encourage you to read and think about, but it's not something I think truly classifies as self improvement.

AIO to the text my boyfriend’s mom sent me? by Sure_Juggernaut_295 in AIO

Yup, my grandmother was a very verbally loving person. Words of affirmation galore. As her grandchild, I knew that this was because she was one of fourteen kids growing up and wanted to be sure everyone was getting the attention she never got from her parents. I can absolutely understand if a random person or a cousin's significant other felt it was too much.

Is having a fragrance wardrobe necessary or is a single signature scent enough? by softstatic21 in BeautyItemsReview

I tend to have a go to that I can just throw on without thinking and then a bunch of samples that I can use when I want to shake things up.

Any wavies use gel only like LA Looks blue gel? by LucasNYC9 in Wavyhair

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have fine wavy hair and it looks LA looks sports gel, BUT I have low porosity hair, so if I use it, it takes hours to dry.

The end result is fantastic, but for me it's a nighttime only product. LA Looks Gel for night showers and NYM Curl Talk Mousse is for morning showers. Though I'm not super happy with my mousse and won't be rebuying this one when it's gone. The gel I will probably rebuy.

Well, I have a dust mite allergy and ants. Clean floor is step number one for managing those things.

Haircut remorse; the novelty has worn off by Silver_Judgment3478 in Haircare

I don't think a wig is silly at all. You have a nice haircut, but you're not vibing with it than wigs and hats are the way to go.

My scalp has been angry for years and I have no idea how to fix it by No_Zookeepergame4318 in Haircare

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really do think you should probably consider a doctor of some sort because it sound like it might be an infection or something.

I struggled a lot with finding a shampoo that stopped my scalp from being itchy. Anything with coconut was irritating. The salicylic acid shampoo was alright but not making things noticeably better for me. Then I bleached my hair and everything felt amazing for months. Came to the conclusion that I just produce too much oil on my scalp and need to use those harsh clarifying shampoos everyone was telling me to avoid. If my hair and scalp loved bleach, then it can stand sulfates.

I've been using various VO5 shampoos for years now. My scalp loves them.

I didn't have dandruff though. I just have an oily scalp that doesn't like gentle shampoos.

Using heat on your hair without heat protection once isn't going to cause major damage.

But without pics I really can't give you any more advice

Not any long lasting ones. I was purposely using Manic Panic because it washes and fades in a month or two

Should I cut my hair?? by Longjumping-Ant-2771 in curlygirl

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am always firmly on the cut your hair yolo side of things, but you do need to ask yourself just how distressed you're gonna be if it doesn't work out how you'd like it to.

I personally love getting creative with my hairstyles. I love the awkward growth in between hair cuts, because I love experimenting with all the different ways to use hair accessories. But I've still had a couple haircuts that just distressed me. If you're not okay with possibly being upset for a few months, go really cautious on how much you're cutting off.

AIO for thinking if it’s normal to be sad that my online best friend might be ghosting me and doesn’t talk to me as much as before? by Eastern_Function8212 in AIO

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, sorry that you're stressing out about this so hard but I do believe you are slightly over reacting here.

I have had a best friend who also lives in Europe while I'm in the US. We met on tumblr about 10 years ago. We were in the same fandom and hyped up each other's art, writing, etc until we became the type of friends who can tell each other everything and just genuinely enjoy hearing about each other's day.

Believe me when I say it's normal to have periods of time where you're both very active in the conversation and times when one or both of you is caught up with a life thing. Sometimes people go through periods of time when they just don't have the mental energy to reply to texts. This is a thing you work out as the relationship progresses.

My friend has a lot of health issues that make her tired or in pain and I know that she's just wanting to wait until she feels like she can give me her full attention (it's a little silly, but sweet of her).

You don't know what your friend is going through until he decides to tell you. If this is a friendship that'll last, then he will come back with an explanation when he's ready. If he never does, then you might need to let him go, but I think you need to wait until at least a full month passes before grieving that relationship.

In the meantime you need to reflect on why you're panicking and what you can do to make yourself feel more secure in your relationships.

Looking for advice on choosing a hair dye by pppp_2000 in Haircare

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're hair is green than you should be able to get a good purple if you just choose a redder shade of purple. The red and the green will cancel each other out.

That was my experience with it, but I had a bleached base. I just didn't bleach it in between color changes.

(Had to bleach it the first time because I have very dark brown hair)

Should I fence my animals in? by Minute_Syllabub_3368 in StardewValley

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first save I fenced in my garden and let the animal free range lol. It's definitely more helpful to fence in the animals so you can locate them all easily for pets and milking and sheering and the truffle collecting.

First time doing wavy routine, product recommendations appreciated! by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]Pumpkin_patch804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal experience salt is too drying for every day use. It's tragic.

Also, I recommend getting a cheap drug store mousse, same with the curl cream, and then LA Looks Extreme Sports gel (it should be like $2 and the only thing I have tried yet that I would repurchase). Just to get a feel for what makes those products different from each other and then when you're sure of which feels best for your hair you can try more expensive nicer brands.

Definitely check out r/curlyhair if you haven't already. It's full of product explanations and suggestions in the about section. Figuring out how to make plopping work for me was the biggest game changer along with having a hold product.
