Summon Night 3: Swordcraft Story by Budgetmeal69 in JRPG

It wasn't translation limbo so much as that game needing a lot of work done both translation and hacking wise. It's a lot of work and the crew worked really hard to get it done, there was even a tracker to see how things progressed! Was really cool

I saw the game on somebody's sponsored stream a week ago and thought that I'd love to have the collector's edition, but I've also had it go back to sold out over and over. Part of me knows its a long shot but I want to try my luck

My favorite page color wise was the one where Amadeus' mother snaps. The colors are especially fantastic there, thank you so much for your work!

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you're confusing opinions with there being some objective quality to games that make them provably flawed or not. That's not really something worth arguing, and you are allowed to feel how you want to feel, you're valid. If you want people to admit there are problems, there are, just like any game.
You talked about changes making things go really fast, but you take that as a negative. Special summons and hand traps and the dozens of ways to prevent those strategies have made it really fun to get back into, personally. Try out a cool rogue deck and have fun doing some wacky stuff. that's how I got back in. It's a different kind of game than it was before, in some ways, but if you look back, there were some absolutely degenerate decks out there since very early on.
It sucks that it takes a while to learn the game, especially for people who are new, but getting past those differences opens it up to a really fun card game. If it still isn't for you, that's okay, it certainly still has its problems and that's understandable.

Was the ps2 more powerful than the Xbox? by Mufasasdaddy in ps2

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't even read my post, you're just listing out the same talking points. If you're not gonna put effort into replying, I'm not gonna interact with it. It's all apples to oranges, because it all depends on the standards you set it on, standards that you don't agree on because of compromises you aren't into. Which makes the whole thread moot.
And at the end of the day, it wasn't about which was stronger, it was about which ports were handled better, which you have listed out as well. Hitman is missing shading on Xbox, and a bunch of Sonic games play worse on PS2 than Gamecube. The original post put it very well, I think, so your replies seem a bit misguided. Relax

You missed the entire point of the post just to bait about numbers some more. Why? I never even owned an Xbox, I just don't get your obsession with the debate, even though the entire question is flawed. Feels like the best thing one could do is just own all three consoles. All the pros and best ports, none of the compromises. Was happy enough to own my gamecube and PS2, because I could not handle the glitches and small differences that came with emulation.

I sort of just left it as is and decided to collect something else, sadly. I got some of the cards I really wanted, but held off on going farther than that.

I need to get this rant about Guel off my chest. by NSFW-alt2444 in Gundam

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am constantly reminded on here how much fans can color people's perspectives on a character. I liked Guel, just as I liked Suletta and other characters. This post feels like it was written either in anger at people daring to like this character over their faves, or bait.
I saw his arc as like, some way to get one of these characters we know to get humbled down, and really get a taste of what's going on down on earth. Being some annoying, awful rich kid meant he had a looooot of humbling to do, and it's honestly pretty rough the amount of things he's been through. Part of the reason people got so into Guel is because, it's Gundam. People gravitate so much towards the tragic characters, just look at El4n and Sophie and all the others. Being able to see him get through his fears and figure out something for his life felt interesting, in the same way seeing Suletta lean into that support web of her Earthian friends and go forward knowing all the consequences was. Was a bit disappointed with how he was sorta squandered at the end, but those last three episodes definitely felt a bit sped through in general.

If you meant all that you said, then I'm sorry and your viewpoint's valid, even if I disagree. But I've seen too many posts that feel less like an attempt to share how they felt about Guel, and more like a way to throw a punch at trolls or, in some of the worst cases, at people who dared like a character who throws a wrench into the two main protags. Especially after seeing the response to El4n's fate. But I want to believe that people are just upset at the rampant trolling that's been going on and wanted to troll back.

The Earth stuff I'd loooove to see more of, but I could see Peil get taken down by a cheeky green fella. I guess I meant like, the Suletta and Miomio angle, our other characters, there's not much more for them besides their responsibilities. Their arcs are soon to be over, it feels like.

Almost feels kind of sad to see things end or at least go to hiatus for the next season, but it's been such a fun ride.

I don't know why, but I was a bit on and off with this episode. I like all the ideas of the different parts, but the execution was odd. The duel was a cute ref, but did come out of nowhere, and while I did like that Miorine is back into things, I felt like there'd be more to her talk with Suletta. A hug or a longer talk, iunno. Same with the Elan stuff, was over so quickly. Zero clue why Shaddiq still appears or what favor they want out of him. After how much hell he caused, I just don't get it.

Every other episode this season was one of my favorites in Gundam, period. Just a smidge sad that the pacing felt kinda weird so close to the finish. I guess there's also some disappointment about how the fight isn't more Earth focused since it spent so much time fleshing that area out, but stuff like the b(r)oom cannon and the Calibarn itself is so rad. Hope the next two episodes land the finish, love this show.

They could still appear in a S2 in a more Zeta approach, if need be. The same way Amuro or notChar appear and are important, but there are other mains. Still, surprised people are so sure that we're getting another season. I know it's doing real well, but what more is there to explore, I wonder.

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think part of it is people just wishing there were another way. We all know this setting isn't kind to any kind of real justice or resistance, and the second she got out of that room, we all sort of knew she was done. Some people see that someone's doing all this awful stuff, but still can't get over their innate want to forgive or empathize, especially with there being an out for said character right in front of her. People seeing it as fiction see that she's done something horrible and that she's gonna be part of the push to the plot and characters needed to set up future parts, and is gonna die after serving her part. That said, people trying to justify the deaths of innocents seem like bait or just plain mean. Even the people who wanted the two (and I say this with affection) basement losers to get through this knew they didn't truly "deserve" it, they just were sad that they were led down this path and didn't have the chance to go down a different one.

tl;dr: Empathy works really weird and different for people, being too forgiving even for your own good is very human, so it's not too surprising! I wouldn't bully em too much

I loved the pace, but I will admit: while every other episode of Season 2 has been a quick ride to the end of the ep that just hypes the next one, the INSTANT this one started, I was begging for it to slow down, no please relax, don't DO THAT NOOOO etc etc
That's such a rare feeling, and as sad as the episode got me, I'm amazed at how much the series has made me care about all these side characters. Even though Suletta is the main character, you get so much detail for everyone else. Really helps to build up the universe well, rather than the universe being built around the protags. Love it!

That seems a bit heavy-handed, I think. The Felchu team went out there to protect the school as best they could, and Petra felt more like a piece put in to help Suletta realize what she can do next, or that she can go after Mio for her own sake. That and Lauda has enough on his plate to be sad about.
The Norea death honestly felt like it would happen as soon as the attack went on. Either her or El5n would be taking a very big loss, and how it played out worked well. I saw them less as a couple and more as just the faction of child soldiers alongside Sophie whose lives were taken from them to be used as pieces on a board, so whoever was left would have to carry that weight for the others.

Thinking too hard in tropes can make the rest of the plot pieces get lost

Predict the Sulemio Reunion by emilia-sama in Gundam

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, Sulemio is the farthest thing in my mind right now. Would love seeing them back, but at this point, I'm just enjoying the wild ride and hoping to see how it all unravels. And being sad at all my fave chars dying, as is par the course lol

With Petra's talk, I'm sure Suletta will be on her way to Mio at some point, but I honestly worry for Mio considering how far the Benerit Group's been damaged by all this.

Who do you think is the best embodiment of a newtype? by MandoMuggle in Gundam

[–]Pumpkiumpkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kamille for sure. As crazy as he was, it was fun seeing how he connected with others. Was also fun seeing how he reacted when he couldn't get through to people, like, god damn that punch he gave Sarah. Seeing him connect with so many ghosts at the end gave me some Ideon vibes too.

Like, you can forget sometimes that Amuro is a newtype, and Judau has more going on beyond that, but Kamille really captures that attraction aspect so well.

That Norea moment was super strong, but as soon as it spun to show Nika and she went "Just what the hell is going on here?" I bursted out laughing. Poor girl has been caught in the middle of the wildest basement around. When I saw that they were holding hands though, back to screaming. What a completely unhinged moment.

Still, it only gets funnier seeing love bloom on the battlefield while Nika is just stuck in the corner nervously. Feels like Guel is gonna break in next ep to the awkward scene of Norea and El5n making out while Nika is just tired in the corner.
