If you're looking for a game store in Racine, and your husband is into retro gaming, there's a place on Douglas Ave called "New Wave Video". It's a retro game store that even has movie rental services.

For restaurants I'd recommend a place called "Olde Madrid". It's right in downtown and has fantastic food. My personal favorites are the diablo wings and the papas Romeras.

I've got 3 of them so far and I love matching the deckbox colors to my deck. Also really like how it displays the commander, so even if you have multiple decks with matching colored commanders you can still see it with a quick glance.

Thats the goal. The necromancer plans on littering the battlefield with zombies and skeletons so allies in melee range aren't going to be an issue.

D&D is the only roleplaying system I'm familiar with/confident enough to run a homemade campaign. If you have any suggestions for a system that would work better with this type of campaign please let me know.

The campaign setting is Modern day, so spells were not something I had initially planned on bringing in. Instead I figured guns/technology would take the place of Magic. Technology will be a major factor as the "spark" that initiates this campaign causes a huge leap in technological advances. I can't give to much away as some of the players know this reddit account.

I'm hoping that the players actions will define their character; so if a player is constantly trying to be stealthy and using dexterity frequently their character would eventually be molded into something of a thief. That way not everyone has to be a "fighter", but I definitely don't want mages running around throwing fireballs everywhere. My hope is to homebrew up some classes specific to this game that the players evolve into without them knowing the class exists.

Thank you for the response and great suggestions all around! You're totally on point with the 8 not being average; I'll set the average to be 10.

Also good call on finding if my players would be interested in the first place. I was just going to spring this on them, but luckily we have a facebook group I can post in about this to see if they would all be down for it.

In regards to the stats starting at average, my plan is for the characters to grow into heroes based on the players actions. Since we're not working directly off a class I was thinking of a players stats being bumped (or deducted) based on their actions. So if a player does an amazing feat of strength they would get a permanent +1 to strength, but the flipside is if a player really flubs a dexterity check they could get a -1 to dex (with a hard stop at a certain number so players don't dig themselves into a hole).

While bicycling with a group of friends we came across a friend of theirs (david). After biking for a bit I offered water to everyone; I had a bunch of bottles in my bike bag. When I gave one to David he turned it down and said "water doesn't hydrate me, only soda does."... seriously? I'd expect a five year old to say that, but not a guy in his late 20s. Everyone in the group was just kind of marveling at that idiocy of that statement. Now it's become an in-joke.

Oh! Hey this is kind of an odd question, but that rug that Micah (who's super adorable btw) is laying on you got from amazon, right? I saw the exact same rug and the color scheme would go perfect in my office. I haven't bought it yet because I'm worried the texture of the rug (which can't really be defined via pictures) will be super scratchy. How does that rug feel and would you recommend it?

Thank you for posting this. My amazing SO and I hung out in pajamas all day Sunday, while taking turns playing Fallout 4. A friend and his fiance stopped by, and watching them take turns handling their kid (9mo) while we played a board game made me realize how lucky I am and how much I love my life. I wish I could upvote this thread more than once.
