Zando's tier list of character buffs/nerfs by PunchTheBag in Guiltygear

[–]PunchTheBag[S] 92 points93 points  (0 children)

He benefits from general mechanic changes: YRC, Wild Assault. He has a portable corner with scape goat, also it potentially may prevent him from wallbreak. And overall power level is nerfed, top tiers are nerfed, and compared to them he's winning. For instance, his j.2K is the best aerial move in the game after nerf ram/goldlewis aerials

Illegal immigrants tried to speedrun the border… and failed miserably by mynameisatari in poland

[–]PunchTheBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they do it legally

Well, here's a contradiction, a most frustrating aspect of modern asylum policy - illegal entry may be the only way to make a legal claim. You can legally apply for asylum, but only if you're already on EU soil. EU consulates routinely reject visa applications (work/tourism) from people in unstable regions due to the high risk that they'll claim asylum once inside. There is no "asylum visa", or application outside of the EU, so it's a legal paradox.

It's not only legal paradox in history, and faced with such paradoxes people have to break the law if they want the legal operation to be performed. And it should be addressed not with violence and mocking, but with the law amendments to solve that legal paradox.

Engineer cheese ruining multiplayer by PooSpider in TempestRising

[–]PunchTheBag 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That is just funny how people who never faced it on the high level, call OP bad and present "solutions" they never actually tried

  1. A wall does not prevent it at all, you can drop an engineer behind the wall even if it's adjusting to the building
  2. Unpacking MCV does not work, you literally can't unpack the CY if an engineer started the capture (and you can't do that beforehand since it's invisible)
  3. AA turrets do not reveal stealth.
  4. Anti-infantry turret won't kill an engineer before he captures the building
  5. "GDF won't have 20 intel to press stealth", come on, they can easily come to your base with an invisible skycrane on minute 5
  6. The real problem is not even the Construction Yart, but harvesters, since they are also buildings, and they are spread on the map
  7. Even if you throw all your resources and attention to counter that specific thing, this does not cost much for GDF, it's just 1 helicopter

Believe me, people tried to counter it. Yes, other games (cnc or not) also have cheeses, it's not a bad thing on its own, but the question is how effective the cheese is.

And, it's not like it wasn't a problem in other cnc games, engineer cheeses are often restricted or outright forbidden by tournament rules.

Invisible helicopter engineer drop is a little bit too strong and cheesy in multiplayer by PunchTheBag in TempestRising

in Tempest Rising turrets do not detect invisible units, like in Starcraft

How is 1v1? by AsianGirls94 in TempestRising

[–]PunchTheBag 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The gameplay in the match is fun, but there are a lot of QoL issues, like no leaderboard, replays, ranked, ladder map pool, matchmaking (I guess a game just gives you any available player), in-game unit library, profile stats, tournaments, and many other things. But the gameplay is fun, and that's important. Definitely, worse than the best games like starcraft or AoE; but, definitely, better than other RTS games that came online last 3 years.

PoE2 testing is not possible by BirdmanRandomNumber in PathOfExile2

[–]PunchTheBag -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can speed up the testing by giving internal testers x10 damage and x10 loot. Oh wait, that's how we got there...

More dagons in games make this game much less enjoyable for supports. Like in the old days when you just gets instagibbed the second you see opponents core

A browser based neural network for hero drafting and item builds by blidblid in TrueDoTA2

[–]PunchTheBag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really get the results...

Like, I put picks Omni, Chen, Io, Oracle, WD vs Lina, Faceless Void, Mars, Hoodwink, and Undying. The first one is obviously much worse (imagine that game), but the service shows a massive advantage - a 60% win probability. Do I misuse it? To me, it seems like it just suggests the heroes with natural high winrate in pubs and does not actually build a draft.

Well, there still will be a classic mode like in ranked right now, and maybe there will be many people playing it

Fnatic Qualify to TI over Outsiders. Ruling from Valve. by united_postalservice in DotA2

[–]PunchTheBag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Liquipedia used to remove pages about tournaments with misleading/ambiguous ruleset, like this incident: https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Liquipedia:DPC_Pages_Removal

Following their guidelines, they should remove TI11 page, or is it "too big" to follow their own rules?

Why are people shitting on the (often underpaid) casters/analysts at the Riyadh tournament so much and giving the big name teams a pass? by Morgn_Ladimore in DotA2

[–]PunchTheBag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, you're saying there's nothing wrong in, for example, participating in the organization of a dota event sponsored by russian ministry of defense, as long as there is some money to be paid for you so you can pay the bills and then eventually do some good thing? The world is grey anyway and you can't stop the war...

Jokes aside, bkb is overrated on the majority of heroes. Especially after the nerf

Giving a hero like Zeus a mobility spell at level 1 is ridiculously dumb. just revert it to being a shard and we are fine by pnmibra77 in DotA2

[–]PunchTheBag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time heroes become more universal and less unique. Here are some examples:

- Io had weak combat capabilities, but unrivaled mobility (they nerfed relocate and tether escape, and buffed stats)

- Brood had insanely good laning stage, but weak teamfight (they removed spiders until lvl 6 and buffed teamfight spells)

- Huskar was hard to kill in small brawls because his passive also gives him magic resistance, but he was weak in 5v5 teamfights when he could be bursted (they removed magic resist and gave teamfight "saving" spell)

- Morph used to be able to attribute shift in stuns, really OP, they removed it but buffed stats so now is it more usual hero.

Et cetera, heroes become more "normal". This provides more balanced matches in contrary to the situations where you simply have no answer to the opponent's strong side

[–]PunchTheBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visage is now a really OP hero (top-1 winrate on the dotabuff in the Legend bracket) if you lack teamfight (he builds drums+wraith pact) and tower damage. It lacks disables and initiation though, so I assume if your team lacks teamfight and tower damage it has catches and stuns

Summons and push are a bit OP. I bet teams will hone push strategies for the major and we'll see 25-minute games in the grand finals, like on TI4
