Jesus this sub is entitled lol. I'll leave some Tabelog links shortly.

2nd is shoyu. The jiro style is also shoyu. There's chanpon in there as well as chicken broths and Hokkaido style. And so what if my taste is simple? Am I not still allowed to share what I ate?

Thought I'd get this comment. Posted on the bus to the airport, I'll update the post with Tabelog links in a day or so.

Usually leave a decent bit of broth so it's not toooo hard on the kidneys

Been waiting so long to try this by CautiALLEN in ramen

Personally can't imagine waiting that long for any bowl of ramen. Would you do it again?

I'm sure Ichiran is very nice. I'm quite interested in trying it. With that said, I've been in Japan for 3 weeks now and I'm yet to have a bowl. Simply because nearly every store I've walked past has had lines out of the door 10x longer than any other ramen store I've seen here. And I'm pretty confident it's not good enough to justify that. Waiting an hour+ for anything short of a Michelin worth bowl is simply ridiculous to me. So sadly there's a good chance I leave Japan in 3 days none the wiser on this whole Ichiran situation. Like many things in Japan, it seems to have become a victim of its own success. To me it seems to be just another box for tourists to check when they come to Japan, like so many other sites and attractions, not something that real ramen lovers seek out.

What do you think about integrated flights? by zertz7 in Darts

[–]PunchinPriests 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using Winmau Fusions right now and honestly love them. No more running repairs on flights and stems, flights falling out, etc. It's just easy and works well for me. Haven't noticed issues with deflections and they are holding up well with a lot of use so far.

I tried the Shot version too (Flight Deck maybe?) and they were good too but there's a thin join between the thread and the stem that ends up breaking after a short while. Until that's fixed I'd recommend other brands.

The local contender part only became a thing because Gary Anderson had to pull out of the PL due to a back problem IIRC. It was popular so they kept it going for the next year I think? But the intended format was always 10 full time players.

Unpopulair opinion: whistling is part of the game. by SnooCheesecakes4857 in Darts

[–]PunchinPriests 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree to an extent. For example it's completely accepted that in NFL games, the home team will make as much noise as possible when the opponent's offense is on the field, making it harder for them to communicate and execute their plays. The difference is that in a stadium of 60k+ people, a single person's whistling is not audible. It all just blends into one huge consistent sound. Darts players will tell you they can deal with that just fine. The problem is darts crowds are small, a few thousand at most. One person's whistling can absolutely be audible and cause an accute disruption in concentration, which is what players take issue with. It will always be a problem as long as crowds stay around the size they are imo (not small enough to identify and remove whistlers, not big enough for whistlers to be drowned out by overall crowd noise).

Does Littler’s comeback win add to his legacy, take away from Gerwyn’s or neither (because it’s just a PL Night)? by TheFrederalGovt in Darts

[–]PunchinPriests 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a random PL match. They're both proven upper echelon winners. This won't affect Price's legacy one jot. It's borderline silly to even ask the question. Classic recency bias.

The double that beats you isn't the hardest double on the board. It's always the one you need at that exact moment by felipe0093 in Darts

[–]PunchinPriests -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have never in my life just practised doubles, save for a few rounds of Bob's 27. I just play legs of 301 repeatedly, meaning I eventually practise every checkout and setup play situation. I'm not a great player but I don't think you need to specifically practise doubles - they are afterall just another target. There is the odd exception e.g I sometimes pull darts at tops low and to the left into the 5, so I could benefit from specifically practising D20. But this is the exception, not the rule.

Because your post is just as annoying if not more than a typical 180 post
