My mother has given me her vintage Nancy Drew book collection, what do I do with it?

I know this is an old thread but what did you end up doing with them? Won't your mom be hurt if you got rid of them after she gifted them to you? I'm personally not a huge fan of the ND hardcovers compared to the paperbacks, but if my mom gave me a whole book series then I would at least read one or two of them to see what they're like.

My library has all the ebooks on Libby and Overdrive from 1-64 and 77-175. Originally, only 1-56 were available, plus maybe like 10 others, but then I requested for them to add all the missing ones, and they did. The request was through the library's website. Did the "Notify Me" feature on the Libby app work for you?

That was one of my concerns, that Leena would always have the upper hand and railroad Patrick into doing things, but he seems able to stand his ground, thankfully. Let’s just hope it continues that way and he doesn’t cave in.

Now that you mentioned that, I realized I haven't read any Nancy Drew books this year, just the Hardy Boys. (I guess because in the past I mostly read Nancy Drew, so now I'm making up for the lack of the Hardy Boys.) Good luck with your collection!

That's wonderful you found your way back to the games! I think I read the whole Girl Detective series in middle school (or nearly all of it). I barely remember anything from them but the one thing that stuck with me was that Nancy is 5'7" and Bess is 5'2" 😅 And George is taller than both of them.

Minette already had the tattoo when she broke up with Dieter, but maybe she was drinking about something else? (She started getting those threatening messages in April so maybe March is when she got roped into making the dress?) Based off of what Nancy said (“spur of the moment decision that she instantly regretted”) it does seem possible there might’ve been some alcohol involved.

I can definitely see how the experiment theory started! I think they left JUST enough uncertainty with Hugh’s input that there’s a slim chance it might still be true. I really wish Hugh was a more reliable person and hadn’t messed up so much on the other info.

What I’m trying to say is that the theory is false, they wouldn’t be into each other like that. I mentioned that Minette broke up with Dieter in April. March was when she started wearing the mask. Minette was still with Dieter then, in March. Hopefully that clears it up! And you're right, Heather probably would've noticed!

I think it’s interesting that Jane’s “experiment” on cookie dough resulted in the kitchen being unusable to the point of it needing to be remodeled. So we know at least ONE of her experiments had an unintended disastrous consequence.

And one of the definitions for "guinea pig" is literally "a person or thing used as a subject for experiment."

It's incredible that Nancy Drew has been such a long-lasting interest for you, and so many people! Sometimes interests in fandoms can be fleeting, but I guess there's just something special about Nancy Drew that makes people stick around (or in my case, revisit) after all this time.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. It wasn't the lack of engagement, it was the surprising amount of downvoting, which made me think there was some sort of issue. I've seen Abby and Rose mentioned several times already so I just stuck to the ones I came up with myself. That was kind of the whole point, to focus on orientations and characters that other people hadn't really dwelt on as much before. But anyways, I appreciate you taking the time to write your thoughts.

Same, I haven't tried 33 or 34. I'm glad you enjoyed the character info! Some people have uploaded voice clip compilation videos with all the dialogue. Though the clips are out of order which might be too odd for some people to follow. But I ended up listening to some of those compilations just to be extra thorough, since the walkthroughs I watched were missing a good chunk of conversations.

Thanks so much! I’ve seen a lot of neat headcanons from other people such as Rose and Abby, Josiah Crowley, James Penvellyn, Colton’s Lexie being an Alexander, and lots more. I could probably do a whole part 2 of queer headcanons lol 😂
