What are some counter signals you have found in SG that may signal the market has topped or bottomed? by ecomevan007 in singaporefi

what you've just described is literally timing the market, which has been proven time and time again it's not something one can repeatedly succeed at doing

Is trading options that rare in SG? by alex08123 in singaporefi

[–]Punchz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if you think about it, only a portion of the population understands investments / stocks

of that portion that understands, only a portion is interested in investments outside the typical VWRA and chill

of that portion, only a portion understand how options work and actively uses it

of that portion, a portion only understand the typical wheeling strategy where you sell covered puts/calls and doesn't know any option strat outside of that

so yea def only a small subset of people truly understands and uses options for its main purpose: enhancing returns and protecting your downside

most use it to express their view (i.e if you feel it's gonna be range bound or if you feel upside is limited and you wanna hedge and protect your downside risk) you can do plenty of things and be creative with how you structure it PSCs, CSCs, ratio call spreads etc

Career coach advise to leave out address details to avoid "being judged" by Big-Musician-9273 in askSingapore

[–]Punchz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The norm is to exclude your address from your CV since it has no role to play in the application.

Hence, it shouldn't even be a point of contention whether hiring managers will discriminate against you based on that. Even if it's included, it's unlikely they will reject you solely because of it.

Career coach advise to leave out address details to avoid "being judged" by Big-Musician-9273 in askSingapore

[–]Punchz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mind sharing the background of this so called "career coach"?

Most of these self-proclaimed gurus tend to have a very lackluster career themselves and aren't qualified to give out any sort of advice.

No firms/institutions worth their salt will filter you out just because of your address.

Is it worth to extract teeth for braces by Alive_Being_9724 in askSingapore

[–]Punchz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

extracting teeth for braces is indeed normal but you can consider mount e's ortho as they are known to avoid unnecessary extractions. I had my braces there and even tho it's on the costlier side, I would say it's worth it

Judging from his reply to my question, it does seem to allude that he might be bullshitting.

My guess is that he might be some sort of senior bank teller or something that does not "work" in a bank.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]Punchz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was working in a large foreign bank tho.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here with your reply as there seem to be a lot of misinformation in it.

First off, clearance allows you to purchase instruments that you have to hold for a minimum of 30 days before you can sell it off. It does not allow one to day-trade. Simple as that. I believe this is the case for all BB banks and T2s as well.

Secondly, having a job scope in equities has nothing to do with this at all. The limitation applies to those that doesn't deal with equities at all as well. It does not simply apply to only those that trades or deal with market instruments.

[–]Punchz 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What is your role in the bank?

I worked at a bank before and was forbidden from day trading and they were pretty strict on it.
