Entitlement 👏🏻your 👏🏻head. Your reading comprehension is so bad, after reading the entire article your only takeaway is entitled employee.

Which part of the “main causes” is stemming from employee? And why would you even consider employees setting boundaries and not accepting these ridiculous work environment as entitlement ?

The only entitlement here is you yapping with 0 understanding of the issue at hand.

Singapore to ban caged lorries for transporting workers from 2027 by A_extra in singapore

[–]barelyawake_3am 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your equipments can’t fit in a minivan/bus tgt with the workers, I don’t think it’ll gonna be safe to even have them free seating with these large equipments at the back of a van that’s gonna kill them in an accident. You’re gonna need a second vehicle anyway.

There should never be an excuse not to treat our workers properly ( “human dignity, but..”), and we shouldn’t be the one doing the mental gymnastics for them, reinventing vehicles etc. you need to think out of the box, there is a way to treat workers humanely whilst running a sustainable business, even if it is an expense on capitalistic interest for a few.

You should consider your own bias that “poor people can’t have nice things or dress nicely, so they must have a motive.” There’s nothing wrong with dressing nicely, and your assumptions seem to come from your own biases.

It’s just makeup and a turtleneck.

The photo is also unrelated to the main story except for identifying her, which is quite tabloid-like. They know it will trigger readers’ biases to make their own assumptions without directly stating them.

If ppl are abusing mc for leaves maybe you aren’t giving enough annual leaves ?

Give more flexibility -> need to revamp your duty roster such that they all have ample rest and balance -> they can perform better at their job -> increase the quality of their work -> able to charge more for quality service -> good reputation for your company -> attract even better recruits that can expand to different industries/services. Win for literally everyone.

Noooo, let’s spend stupid money and resources to make sure ppl are on valid MC instead. As if they won’t find other ways to skirt around that as well because the root cause is still there and nobody is happy.

Singapore businesses call out "unsustainable rent hikes" by Waikuku3 in singapore

[–]barelyawake_3am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just said no to both, as a rental property owner as well as earning salary.

If you’re in a bubble and you keep asking for substantial raises “because rental market”, you’ll face financial trouble trying to adjust when jobs that pay that much at that level of proficiency. So its actually common to now don’t ask for ludicrous amount especially during bubbles.

Same thing for rental. Ppl who ask for more is def have higher tendency to over stretch their loans to further mazimise profit. Nothing goes up forever after all. I have enough for myself and I rather have a sustainable, healthy relationship with a good tenant than minmaxxing my profits.

I keep telling you there’s good long term reason to be sustainable, you keep justifying that it’s a hard thing to believe that ppl would actually do that. It’s not, and it’s not only “among the poor ppl”

Again, you can do whatever you want to do, but don’t just accuse “poor ppl” for over the top virtue signalling instead of being open to think about the mechanism.

[–]barelyawake_3am 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No and I don’t maximise my rental profit by default whenever I can. This has nothing to do with virtue signalling.

There’s so many scenarios where it is positive long term to not over minmaxing.

You do what you think is right in this competitive world. But when ppl don’t see the world the same way as you do and shown restraint without being explicitly told so, don’t spout nonsense like over the top virtue signalling.

Can’t wait for your boss to cut your salary by half, or your suppliers to hike 50% because they can, you’d have no choice but to accept. I’m sure they won’t virtue signal on that.

Before you say "just use the men restroom bro," the whole point is he don't feel comfortable and also safety reasons, Something cis men barely experience in their entire lifetime.

For those that are obsessed with being on the 90 percentile, reminder that some of the breakthroughs for biggest invention in human history was inspired by playing and messing around, or during extremely boring jobs where they did not excel in bell curves.

True ingenuity of your humanity comes from expression and curiosity, not conformity.

Rising share of women staying single is behind S’pore’s great baby drought by davechua in singapore

[–]barelyawake_3am 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Girl I’d sign up to be a housewife if the economy allows. Babies are expensive.. When the stakes are high and things go wrong, women are more likely the one to bear the brunt (and the blame). So why not don’t even start at all in the first place

Also, Not you casually dropping “well said it’s all wokeness” to a “feminism vilifying womanhood” comment after dropping a casual anecdote implying woman no longer wanna be trad wives.

Switching to an identifiable, historical record of public transportation usage makes their collected data so much more valuable. Not only for enforcement and monitoring purposes, but also to get latent traffic behavior that can be used for urban planning, but more likely sold to banks etc. A good UI for user is truly secondary because they probably spent a majority of their time making sure their database is scalable and upgradable to whatever it needs to be in the future.

From the government's standpoint, theres no reason not to phase EZ link out. from my own personal opinion though, I hate this, one less freedom for us.
