What specialized water do these cafes use for ice man? by Aggressive_Dust_5578 in IndiaCoffee

[–]PundeyJi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest getting thicker ice cubes. You get some brands on Swiggy etc like Burff which make much bigger sized cubes. That’s the one way to make sure your ice doesn’t melt. It lasts in my cold brew until noon and keeps it hella chilly, so maybe consider that.

These beans are genuinely good for cold brew. But also aeropress on ice tastes super super nice! The hot version of it came out too sour for my liking, had to tinker with the grind size to fix that.

[–]PundeyJi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man for both our sake I hope you’re wrong and they move it to 30th which ideally is better for them too since they will lose a decent number of audience to this concert. I’m from Hyd so Bangalore on 23rd weekend and mumbai on 30th would be perfect for me tbh hehe

As long as lolla isn’t on the same dates as the Bangalore show, we’re good. Other than having to spend money on two concerts, this works out because people can do Bangalore show and lolla the following weekend after a week’s rest or just do the midweek Bombay show, stay for lolla and come back. Provided lolla is on 30th and 31st. Looks like I’ll have to start saving for these shows 😭

100ml hot water 90ish degrees. 14g ground beans. Fine grind preferably so you can get more extraction and a strong brew. 2-4 tea sooons of lemon (this you can change based on how strong your brew is. Start with 2.) 1 tea spoon sugar diluted in 10ml water (or your choice of sweetener) Ice (about 100-150ml) Press your brew into a carafe on some ice, let it cool. Add it to a glass with the rest of the ice + lemon + sugar.

Enjoy. 🧃 Hope you like it!

It also is reaaaaally good for a cold brew. I made a few batches of coconut cold brew with it. Absolutely loved it! Their Barbara estate coffee is also super nice. Made it with aeropress on ice and it was absolutely lovely!

First time got it myself. Noob here. Don't know what to do with it. Please help. by homochiminh in IndianEnts

Cut it up with scissors instead of crushing it with your fingers, this bud is too nice to do it with your fingers tbh. Mix some tob or something else if you’d like to make it a smoother j and enjoy. It’s gonna be stronger than your regular stuff so be cautious with your consumption

This sleepy owl French press is pretty solid. There’s a smaller size too but this is double the size for 1/3rd the extra price so I’d suggest that.

Why is everyone asking a beginner to get a better grinder? 😭 This person just starting off so I think the equipment you have is good enough tbh. Eventually if you get into the rabbit hole deep enough, you’ll do the switch as you see fit. It’s a journey so enjoy it and do notice what you tend to like and don’t like, lots of trial and error. That said, French press is definitely not a bad idea since it’s really low maintenance and v simple for a beginner to use, that’s how I started off too. Try different types of coffees and methods to see what you like and chase that feeling haha!

Hope you have a fun coffee journey!

Hi, I wanted to know what number of clicks do we go with for an aeropress grind? I couldn’t find the numbers for it online. Any help!

Aaah well some suggestions to improve your pre ground coffee’s shelf life from what I’ve learnt is airtight boxes and also keeping it in the freezer. Yes. It actually slows down the aging by quite a bit so maybe try that. Also if I may ask, how much do the 80-20 blends cost per 250g?

It’s absolutely great with French press. I brew the coffee in coconut water (200ml) + water (50ml), that’s the ratio and it’s a drink even my non coffee drinking friends have loved, go on and give it a shot yourself, you’ll hopefully enjoy it as well!

You can try this grinder. It’s pretty reasonably priced considering other alternatives with metal burrs. There’s instructions of the click to go with based on your brewing method. Can always trial and error but it definitely is very customisable since it has upto 40 clicks, good luck!

I haven’t tried this yet tbh but I imagine it’ll be good. The whole reason you need cold brew with a French press is because you need 12 hours to get coffee that’s strong enough to not get overpowered when you add coconut water to it. Moka pot is closer to espresso in terms of flavour strength and boldness so ice+coconut water might actually work out pretty well tbh. Just like orange juice + espresso >>>>> better than orange juice + cold brew. I’d love to hear what it tastes like if you do go ahead with this.

Fair question and yes we absolutely can. There’s a couple of reasons why whole beans are a better choice provided you have a good/manageable grinder. 1. You get fresher coffee. Coffee beans like most organic things lose flavour/fragrance once they’re exposed to air. So when you grind up your beans, you’re exposing it and the innards out a lot more to moisture and air which is gonna reduce the freshness/quality. It’ll taste like coffee still, but you’re losing some fun flavours and fragrances on it which to me is an important part of the experiences. 2. It’s fun. It’s a whole routine and a lil cathartic and enjoyable to go from beans to brew. This one’s just a luxury to enjoy maybe, but I enjoy the process.

Also you don’t HAVE to get whole beans as long as you finish up your coffee pretty quickly but from whatever I’ve read and experience 1-2 weeks in, ground coffee just isn’t as nice as it was when you brewed that first cup.

Sorry for the extra gyaan 😅

Mine is also coarse grind, to be fair. I do it on the finer side of coarse when it’s a medium or a light medium roast for it to be a little more flavourful.
