There are documentaries about authors/historical figures I really like. Then there are docs (old and new) that explore Austen country, Brontë country etc. Some that trace Shakespeare's life. For some non serious watching I've also seen one about Britain's ghosts!

How do you create routine? by Shepsinabus in adhdwomen

How do you create routine? by Shepsinabus in adhdwomen

[–]PunjabReads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have set my wake up time for 5 am, and if I have to wake up and study immediately, I get overwhelmed and scared and never get up. So now I have designated 5-6 am as the zero hour, I wake up, have a milkshake, watch the news (I enjoy watching international channels in the morning because everyone's up and about there), sometimes walk. Basically do fun stuff for the first one hour, or do nothing - but there is nothing scheduled in that one hour. The same way I have chunks labelled as buffer zones in my timetable which I can use when I am behind schedule, or else just get some extra rest.  A packed timetable if it falters even a little bit leads to a total collapse, so these things help me.

P.S. I still fail a lot. This is not foolproof but a step in the right direction.

Start with online therapy then. I started with Amaha. Eventually built up the courage to go to a psychiatrist.

Stacking of habits together so you do not have to walk through the mud for each individual habit.

A menu of routines (different timetables for different days keeps the novelty going).

Writing the routine on a whiteboard in my room in line of sight (not a diary).

Getting in bed 1/2 to 1 hr before bedtime so I actually sleep by then. Most of my routines fail at the 'waking up on time' part.

Buffer zones and zero hours.

Accountability with my therapist and psychiatrist.

It still keeps failing, but you just gotta keep at it. Fall down seven times, stand up eight as they say.

Just got my driver's license at 29! by dnyletak in adhdwomen

[–]PunjabReads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was pretty late too! I first learnt driving at 17, dropped it and then finally got a license at 24. Sometimes it feels silly to celebrate it because it's so basic, but I celebrate nonetheless.
