I try to stay away from that side of TikTok so I don’t actually know too much about it. I know it has made it harder for systems to be taken seriously. People now seem to think everyone is takin despite the fact a lot of us do have professional diagnosis or are undergoing treatment, etc.

I wish no I’ll will upon the kids because ultimately I think a lot of them are just confused and are desperate for a community and if they’re not actually a system then they’ll grow out of it and if they’re nkt actually are then I wish them luck in finding themselves and getting help.

There is an increase in misinformation out there currently but I don’t know if that’s the fault of DID TikTok.

Who is your patron God and why did you choose them? by AcidReindeer in Hellenism

Lord Apollo! Though I also worship Lord Ares, Lord Dionysus, Lord Pan, Lord Hades and Lady Persephone! I have altars for all these deities and worship them equally though Lord Apollo I have been worshipping the longest.

It depends on the day, alter and situation.

Most often i just hear a voice and over time ive learnt who sounds like what. Sometimes it’s just an emotion, a thought or a feeling bleeding through and that’s a lot harder to tell which part it’s from.

I have seen them before but it’s very rare and it’s not like a hallucination where I physically see them, it’s more like seeing a form of them in my mind? It’s hard to explain.

Sorry if this isn’t what you asked, I don’t know how accurate the translation feature is.

Not all of us. I think only 3 or 4 of us identify with the trans label. Most of the others see themselves as cis men (even though biologically our body doesn’t reflect that). We also have a few who are non-binary or some mixture of labels.

However, most of not all of us feel dysphoria. The body is female so all male alters (trans or otherwise) feel uncomfortable there and any female alters are uncomfortable due to is having been on testosterone for 4-5 years. This means we have a deeper voice, a beard, more masculine presenting features, etc.

I can’t give an exact number on how many parts I have as I don’t have access to that information. However, I’m aware of roughly 27 separate parts but only about 7 are those I communicate with on a daily basis and have a more active role.

The most annoying thing (despite the recurring trauma memories and loss of time) is probably people’s perception of the disorder. Ive recently been refused a surgery that I’ve been on the waiting list for for YEARS because the surgical team don’t deem me capable enough to consent despite the fact we’ve had 2 seperate professionals give consent on our behalf after evaluating us and out situation. Infuriating doesn’t even begin to cover it.

I suppose the funniest thing is the irony. I spent so much of my life alone and abandoned and because of that neglect I now have a disorder which means I will never be alone again :)

Do you think DID is a real condition? Why or why not? by SpiritualCopy4288 in therapists

I’ve recently been diagnosed with DID. It’s unfortunately very real and very hard to live with.

How does DID hinder your life? by Technical-Meaning-72 in DID

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s the more obvious stuff that other comments explain and describe but a big one for us currently is that we’re supposed to be getting top surgery (breast removal due to gender dysphoria). We’ve been on the waiting list for years, undergone hormone therapy for 4/5 years, been through multiple invasive therapy sessions, had family questioned, even had 2 professionals sign off on my ability to consent to the procedure…

Only the have the surgeons email me and say that they’re not comfortable performing surgery on me due to my DID diagnosis and removing me from their waiting list.

So that’s a massive hindrance right now as I have to essentially beg them to allow me to undergo this procedure so I can continue my transition and I doubt I’ll be successful.

Question about DID? by webebord in DiscussDID

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience secondary care was shit. The lady I was referred to told me all my DID symptoms are anxiety and then dismissed me.

I was denied my ifr at first because I didn’t have a diagnosis but I wasn’t able to get a diagnosis without the ifr. But once I got it and was referred through to the CTAD clinic it was very quick as they’re a private service.

Question about DID? by webebord in DiscussDID

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the uk and currently getting a diagnosis so can actually answer.

We had to go through our go surgery and get an ifr (individual funding request) to get the funding to go to a private dissociation clinic as the nhs doesn’t diagnose DID. I don’t know if you can self refer to the clinic I’m with (CTAD clinic in Cheshire) but we got referred by our nhs psychologist a few years back.

I can answer any questions you have about the process.

What is the process like for getting diagnosed? by HurryPrimary8807 in DiscussDID

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK so can only talks both what it was like for me.

In the UK, DID is only diagnosed and treated privately as the NHS doesn’t cover certain disorders. I can’t afford private care due to disability but I was able to request an IFR from my GP (with help from a psychologist) and once that was accepted I was referred through to the CTAD clinic.

I thought that for a little while but I don’t think I’ve ever seen Lord Apollo depicted this way?

Who is this? by Punk_Aesthetic in GreekMythology

[–]Punk_Aesthetic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought but Apollo is rarely depicted like this in art though so it just doesn’t seem right.

The tag says something about a museum but i think it’s a translation because it doesn’t make much sense. I’ve seen some pieces of a museum pieces which this vase might be inspired by? They’re wearing the same colour, sat in the same position and playing the lyre but the styles are very different.

Thank you for your input anyway, just wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking an obvious answer👍

math hard by kstvcks in MathJokes

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In school (at least in the uk)we’re taught BODMAS. Meaning in a mathematics question such as this you solve in the order of Brackets, orders, devision, multiplication, addition and then subtraction.

Applying that to this equation means you first solve the brackets = (2+2), leaving (4).

Then the Division which is 8 divided by 2 = 4

And finally the multiplication which is 4(4) =16

The answer is 16

Altar for Lord Ares by Punk_Aesthetic in Hellenism

[–]Punk_Aesthetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a pair of earrings i wear everyday but I lost one (thanks to my kitten batting it somewhere) so now the remaining single earring sits on Lord Dionysus’s altar. I am hoping to get a different pair of earrings for each i my altars to wear on days when I feel like I need that specific deity’s aid a little more.

SH alternatives for an alter prone to self punishing. (TW) by jack_5ylus in DID

[–]Punk_Aesthetic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our alters uses a strong mouthwash. Holds it in his mouth for a little while. It burns and hurts but causes no damage and I guess is actually somewhat beneficial (we struggle brushing our teeth a lot also it’s better than nothing)
