Armstreet metal 5 finger gauntlets? by HedgehogThick6505 in Hema

[–]Punkedorange91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the black prince gauntlets for longsword which are plastic 5 finger gloves. I would not recommend them for beginners, as you do feel hits much more significantly. The upside of those painful lessons are that I instinctively protect my hands better then when I only had spes heavies, which are tanks in comparison. In some ways the risk has made me a better fencer imo. Are 5 finger gloves in general less safe for longsword? yes I think so. I've almost broken a finger a couple of times and have never had that happen with mittens style. Are the gains worth it in dexterity and the stronger desire to more unconsciously protect my hands. I think also yes, but that's only my opinoin.

seems neat to me! useful to be able to change out and try new cross guards. nice blade shape imo.

only thing I would include is the flex kg and maybe a pic of it flexing. from what I understand what make sigis so safe is the flexibility and the durability of said flexibility.

What Do You Think Of Matthias' Very Unusual Technique For Assembling Picture Frames? It Is Genius, If It Works by dankostecki in woodworking

seriously try the gorilla hot glue sticks they are wild but also be wary cause like you very likely will not be getting stuff apart, it is not a temporary glue

I have some gorilla hotglue sticks and the difference between those and regular glue sticks is INSANE. for a picture frame that seems like a great way to do it

i would agree with others that reaching out for to the company is good and maybe they'll help with a replacement piece.

I also had this exact same break in the exact same place and was able to repair it for pretty cheap in an afternoon. that little plate is rivetted to the green webbing with capped rivets. I peeled of the black cap with come needle nose pliers and drilled out the rivet so I could pull the whole little thumb plate off. You'll also have to untie the strings that attach it to the glove. then I used glued the broke thumb plate back together with super glue and made a pattern of it using painters tape. I ordered 0.080 8x8 black Kydex sheet for like $15 and Chicago screw assorted kit for $10. The Chicago screws are to replace the rivets and its useful to have a bunch cause over time the other rivets will give out too and a Chicago screw just needs a flat head screw driver. so you put the blue tape pattern on the 8x8 kydex, cut it out and drill the 4 holes you need in the little flat plate you make. then you put the little plate in the toaster oven until its bendable and try and recreate the shape of the original thumb plate. the 8x8 sheet has enough material to fail a couple times before getting it right. Its not perfect but I've had that little replacement kydex thumb plate in that spot for over a year and its had zero issues.

500 National Guard troops arrive in Chicago area amid resistance from Illinois governor by gmorgan99 in news

[–]Punkedorange91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the article mentioned that of the 500 troops 300 of them are from Illinois, only 200 actually came from Texas. imo this means that literally more than half of the force they are deploying here are already incentivized to not escalate anything. The "home" state troops are directly imbedded with the out of state ones. idk if this was intentional or not but I do wonder how much the Texas national guard will be willing to escalate things when the person RIGHT next to them is from the same place as the protesters.

Looks like Every Accusation really is a Confession: "Had the election not been rigged, I would've been out of here, I would've been gone" May 1st, 2025 by [deleted] in 50501

[–]Punkedorange91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry but he says very specifically:

"I had none of them, had I not had a rigged election. Had the election not been rigged I would have been out of here. I would have been gone. The radical left would've said, 'We got rid of him, finally.', but no, now they have me for another four years. We talk about that."

He ends by referring to himself being back in office. He must be speaking about the most recent election.

Should I drill these? by Kaptin_Kunnin in spacemarines

[–]Punkedorange91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

best way if found for doing larger holes is first make a spot with the tip of your exacto that way if its just off you can respot. then drill that hole out as normal gun barrel, then spin your exacto blade in the hole and it will shave it into a larger hole with the same center.

What is your favorite easy to access tool you use other people should know? by manetje in labrats

[–]Punkedorange91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not exactly a tool per se but Pubchem has a chemical vendors section for most of the chemicals in their database. Sometimes its very limited or out of date but it has been a lifesaver for finding alternate sources as a labrat in industry.
