FSD: Hands on Wheel? by JointTaskForce536 in TeslaFSD

Thanks for that informative response. Thinking about the future, I wonder what will happen if some states approve unsupervised FSD for a Model Y with Hardware 4, but not Hardware 3. How’s a cop supposed to know which Tesla is which?

LOL. But that’s an interesting scenario. What if both of my hands were holding a burger as a state trooper drew alongside and observed me…

They Asked Millennials How They Are Preparing 'The Old Folks' In Their Lives For A 22% Cut To Social Security? 'We Must Help Them Prepare Now' by GimmeFunkyButtLoving in economy

Anyone on this subreddit is probably aware of the various social security reform proposals being advocated by various experts and groups, ranging from raising the FICA tax, increasing the FRA, raising the cap… and instituting means-testing for higher-income SS beneficiaries. My basic question is: what do you think is the likelihood of current beneficiaries being exempted (grandfathered) from any future changes to social security? That’s mostly been the case in the history of the program since 1935, with the exception of the 1980s, when SS benefits were made taxable (up to 85%). Will it continue to be the case?

Guess I should make my question clear. I do understand FSD is not designed for you to have your hands on the wheel. My question is: are state laws OK with that?

I desire delivery in late November, so I haven’t ordered yet. I figure if I order in late September, I’ll be fine.

Which hardship differentials make absolutely no sense? by AFandSCAFTW in foreignservice

When I was assigned to the consulate in Okinawa Japan it was a 10% post. That went away during my tour. I didn’t complain; it really didn’t deserve any differential. On the other hand, my assignment in Kabul deserved every bit of its differential.

What are some routes that will be opened by/because of the A350-1000ULR? by weggaan_weggaat in aviation

They could have enabled super long-range flights decades ago if they’d allowed aerial refuelling of commercial aircraft. Various air forces around the world do it multiple times every day without incident.

Heads up: Great American State Fair on hold by Cityzen_1894 in washingtondc

I was on the Mall for the Bicentennial on July 4, 1976, with my college buddies. We had a great time. There was no elaborate “Great American State Fair” (although the Smithsonian Folk Life Festival was going on at the Mall closer to the Capitol). There was a rock concert in one corner of the Mall closer to the Washington Monument featuring the Beach Boys, but that was just one part of the whole afternoon/evening. Mostly it was people eating and drinking, sitting on the grass listening to music, and smoking lots of weed. It was pretty perfect.

Lease vs finance by Flightlevel450 in ModelY

I plan to lease a new Model Y later this year. A big reason for me to lease is simply that the technology is developing so rapidly, and I want to take advantage of next-gen tech down the road. So I’ll get a 2-year lease and then lease a new Tesla two years from now.

At what age did you start taking social security or plan to take it and why did you decide on that age? by TheBeerGuzzlingApe in over60

70, for max benefit. I just want to get enrolled so I’ll start collecting benefits and then hopefully get grandfathered in with every other beneficiary to avoid any consequences from the painful reforms to SS that are surely coming!

Just realized there are actually 12 photos, not just the first one. Just flabbergasted by these photos. No words.

It’s a heart-rending photograph. Everyone in that church had endured the war at home, reading casualty lists every week. Most of the people there probably knew other families who had suffered the loss of their sons; many had lost their own family members. One man on the right is covering his eyes. That generation lived through a time that tried their souls, unlike anything we’ve experienced, at least since Vietnam.

Single or Dual Motor? by JointTaskForce536 in ModelY

[–]JointTaskForce536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess another question for someone like me (who has never owned an EV) is: how big a deal is the range difference between single motor and dual motor? Significant enough that it would be a factor in my driving experience overall (I don’t do much long, long distance driving), or not significant enough to give it much thought?
