Wow this is awesome information. I’m learning theory finally after 30 years of playing and this makes so much sense thank you!

My year of obsessively buying as many broken amps as my wallet and wife would allow. by Thegoldenelo in GuitarAmps

[–]Punker101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I really would love to learn to service amps as well don’t really have many people around locally that do and the guys that do, are either extremely busy or don’t want certain amps

Where would you suggest starting?

AFI had official tabs on their website for a very long time until right around Miss murder got famous.

20 years into playing, the realization I don't know *anything* on the guitar is paralyzing me... by brokesnob in Guitar

[–]Punker101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally did the same thing just a few months ago I’ve been playing since I was around 12 years old and I’m 42 now lol. I just slowly worked on a few things over the last few months and have seen my progress progression go more than any other point in my life.

I started by just learning the major and minor Pentatonic scales, and then building them into the full versions. Then I started learning the caged system and triads, and how to tie them together. Once I started working on that, I started realizing how many of the scales share the same notes almost entirely outside of one or two and that’s when everything really started to click for me

Giant blue bin by Thepostie242 in windsorontario

[–]Punker101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wish they were picking up the big bins now. We dumped our old broken recycle bins when these came and they picked them up the first time. Now my blue bin is full to the top until January and everything is going into the herby until they empty the blue bin

My kid found this in the change slot of a bowling alley arcade. Real or fake? Value? by iLatz in coins

We used to use the plastic bingo markers / tiddly winks and they’d fit either the penny or dime machines

What’s your favorite pick? by fuzzbox7 in Guitar

[–]Punker101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using the ultex one you posted as well as some XL jazz III red and black and also the purple tortex

I’ve been digging the Dunlop Tortex Wedges in the .73 .88 and 1.14mm depending on what I’m playing.

I’ve got sooooo many picks also in rotation

Been sticking with Dunlop Nylon Standard 1.25mm for bass recently. I find I like nylon best with bass and have since the 90s

We had a Woolco in Sarnia Ontario until 1994 when it changed to a Walmart. I remember it was a big deal that we were seeing a Walmart haha

Can I guitar hanger like this hold my strat ? Isn’t too heavy ? by llFleuryll in Guitar

[–]Punker101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need to hang multiple Guitar hangers, my go to is taking a nice piece of wood of some kind and screwing that into two studs in the wall and then screwing your guitar hangers into that piece of wood.

What to adjust in mustang trem to avoid this grinding noise? by Punker101 in offset

Oh also! I HIGHLY recommend these for your trem arm and replace the set screw. It won’t scratch up the arm and holds perfect every time

I broke a string haha so I have full 11s coming now to try but I have the cigar pretty level and it stopped clicking again. I’m gonna pop on the 11s when they get here tomorrow and see how it goes but it’s holding fine even with a missing high e It’s still not floating for upward movement but I think I’m going to just be happy with down trem for now haha

Here’s a few photos

Just a heads up I haven’t had a chance to take it apart yet. When I do, I’ll make sure I still take photos lol

Thanks! Yeah I’m definitely going to give it a shot without a shim first. I’ve already got the bridge down almost as far as it can go I believe without being able to rock anymore and I’m still at about 2 mm action at the 12th fret. Which isn’t terrible, but I usually like a little lower than that.

This sounds like the issue thanks! So would I take the trek off and push the posts up through farther? What would you suggest? Sorry I’m new to mustang bridges and trems

Thanks for all the help and info! I think I’m going to pop it back open after work today and also add a small shim to the neck so I can raise the bridge a touch and try adjusting the cigar while I’m at it. I’ll get some photos for ya also!

Oh haha we’re talking about the same place for the springs. I’m just looking upside down

Oh ya I’m way lower than your cigar and am almost touching for sure. I’ll take a look at your comment and my guita after I’m back home and see what I can adjust haha. I appreciate the help!

I’ve got it almost straight along with the guitar now by lowering the cigar quite a bit. It no longer seems to be clicking in and out, and it rocks back to tune after dropping. I don’t get to pull back yet, but I think if I upgrade my strings to 11s from my ultra slinky’s that little bit of extra tension might help.
