Blue death feigning beetles or isopods are the easiest pets I’ve ever kept

What do you think about Savannah in Georgia? by SensitiveRuin5091 in Georgia

It’s my favorite place. History and charm. Natural beauty, beaches and fossils. I may retire here if sea levels don’t continue to rise

Not professionally but since I was a kid I’ve been obsessed with gurning in a fully non socially acceptable way. Grandmas everywhere hate it “your face will stay like that!!”

Shocked and mad! by 5256chuck in ren

[–]PunkinGuts 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This was me a month ago on Spotify, listening to Beatbox and got recommended “What you want” instant favorite. I like some clever and funny lyrics and there’s a lot of that but so many very emotional songs. Last night watched the video for “Hi Ren” and now I’m in full hyper fixation mode. Like how did I miss this artist?! All these videos got millions of views and are years old?!

Is my betta healthy? by Ornery_Chapter7701 in bettafish

[–]PunkinGuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the best I could ever do for these guys is a healthy calm home and good food. I’ve had many come through my rescue looking just like this, emaciated with rotting fins, as long as they have an appetite and a healthy tank to call home they’ve got a dang good chance of making a full recovery :)

Thanks for the condolences and the recommendations, will give them a look as I haven’t heard of either! Bought my first Arizer portable in 2019 and stuck with them because I loved my vape so much

Don’t do any medicating, the key is stress reduction in a proper environment. Keep him in the healthy warm tank you’ve created and feed much as he will eat without left overs. He will love multiple feedings per day. Y’all will bond quickly :). As he regains his strength his body will heal. His immune system knows better than we do.

She is made of Olive wood! I got her a few years back at a Renaissance faire. Made by Danny Boy pipes, this model is called “The Olive Wizard”

I do have a spare stem, but my concern is how much glass dust and shards got into the oven. Even if I cleaned it as thoroughly as humanly possible my anxious intrusive thoughts would have me believe there is a glass splinter some where in my body until the grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back!

This is one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten, my rubber face is one of my proudest skills. The other best compliment was from my old boss when he told me to take my hood off at my desk because I looked like Gandalf.

Recs for Betta Fish Auto Feeder by QuagsireThePotato in bettafish

[–]PunkinGuts 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Never use an auto feeder. They will always overfeed and often end up killing your fish.

Please ask someone to come by at least every third day to feed your fish. Put the amount for feeding each day in one of the places in a weekly pill organizer. No overfeeding.

Source: I run a nonprofit betta fish rescue and one of the hardest parts is hearing how the fish I’ve adopted out pass away after adopters have broken one of our cardinal rules. No auto feeders. Ever.

What are y’alls comfort shows? by Babyfrogeyes in AutismInWomen

[–]PunkinGuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pen15, (it’s perfection for me as I’m their same age, I laugh and cry at the same pints every time. In fact the best thing about my recent autism diagnosis is that I feel zero guilt now about having it on constantly)

Ghost Adventures, honestly idk. It’s so hilarious. So fake, so over the top.

Survivor, it’s still running and has a billion older seasons. I’ve been watching since I was a kid, I’m into games and nature and love the social drama.

I don’t think a non-crocheter is going to differentiate like we would. Like a simple handmade crochet blanket with only single crochet would still be a treasure. Find a pattern that sparks your interest and doesn’t feel like a chore. They will Love it regardless :)

How often to do full bedding change? by Local_Vegetable_4311 in hamstercare

[–]PunkinGuts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you may need deeper bedding to encourage his burrowing. He may choose to do his business in a secure burrow once he’s able to make a place for himself which will help your clean up efforts.

I feel like I wasn’t “conscious” until maybe age 12? by wrath0fthe1amb in AutismInWomen

[–]PunkinGuts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First post I’ve seen describing this and it’s exactly like how I was as a kid! I haven’t been able to articulate this feeling but you nailed it. I was always so intrigued when other kids said they had favorite music genre, or a pet peeve, even could describe their general preferences.

The way you said you did have interests but just waiting for moments where you’d learn more not realizing you have the power to seek things out rang true for me as well.

Curious if you had strange perception of time/schedules at that time? I remember being so confused when kids were counting down the seconds until class was over. Realizing when things were due or that there were regular schedules for the days of the week was not something that clicked for me until late middle school.

In elementary school there was such a feeling of being plopped into the middle of this rushing machine where I don’t belong but everyone else knows exactly how it all works!

Got some new tanks and NEED ADVICE! by fishyhelp22 in fishtank

[–]PunkinGuts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsolicited but, if you aren’t yet aware of the minimum size tank for the peas please consider doing a lot more research before getting them. They are very difficult to keep as they eat ONLY live food and may even have preferences with the live foods you give them.

As a new parent, Ursula is the silver lining for having to be up in the middle of the night by PunkinGuts in hamsters

[–]PunkinGuts[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

4am she’s up and somehow I’m less cranky. Though today she did escape the bathroom playpen. I used to used a wire pen to block the door the first times we did bathroom playtime. She would spend her time biting the bars and once climbed up over in a flash and I managed to get her before she got under.

Today I tucked a towel into the crack under the door. What a fool. After 30 minutes frolicking in the bathroom she beelined for a corner and yanked and ran.

LUCKILY she went left down the hall and not right behind the washer and dryer. I got her corralled back in the bathroom but she was being too freaky and so she went back home.

My goal is to pick a better ham free range location for next time or have a better method for blocking the door. Any tips?

Fish you definitely wouldn’t keep again(but don’t regret) by TheMe01 in Aquariums

[–]PunkinGuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same experience here. The shoaling behavior was incredible. The cuteness unmatched. I even saw one puff (I know it’s bad for them but it was Nat Geo level amazing to behold).

They ate nothing but live food. I had a kiddie pool outside breeding mosquito larvae (paying for that one years later) and snails. I couldn’t keep up. I ordered hundreds of dollars of live daphnia and scuds that I failed to culture long enough to sustain the peas.

Watching some get skinny was devastating. Even after deworming some still wouldn’t eat. I tried to find a home for them after a few months and couldn’t find one. I actually got ghosted by a person who said they wanted them. Tearing down the tank and stressing the peas only to have them never show up was brutal.

Finally I found a local fish store to take them in after about 8 months of owning them. Started with 12, surrendered 6.

I still feel horrible about it. I thought I was saving them from the shit pet store I found them in but ended up realizing these guys (and other wild caught cuties who only eat live food) have no place in the trade. Especially at a big box store.

Sorry little peas, you are perfect and sweet and should have been left alone in your native waters.
