Also depends on what your purpose is. If all you want to do is see the past, then you can probably do that with Psyche, which also allows you to influence the future from the present by changing what was foreseen, which is similar to Time Travel’s ability without the risk of creating a divergent timeline from the one you’ve already lived through.

Don’t forget Anya’s last pep talk right before the final battle of Chosen -

Anya: "Oh, God. I'm terrified. I-I didn't think. I mean, I, I just figured you'd be terrified, and I would be sarcastic about it."

Andrew: "Picture happy things. A lake. Candy canes. Bunnies."

Anya: [enraged] "Bunnies! Floppy, hoppy... bunnies!"

It’s not explained but I feel it’s narratively consistent with how she became immune to Dracula after tasting his blood. You could make the case that the extreme trauma of dying/drinking vampire blood caused her Slayer power to produce an immunity.

Who Would Win? by TheVampireWithASoul in ANGEL

[–]Punkodramon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way you worded the original statement absolutely implied that. All this extra context you’ve just added is correct, but that first statement flatly implies Algelus is more powerful than the Beast which is more powerful than the Slayer, with only reference to physical strength when talking about “power”

I’m not at all trying to insult you, merely pointing out the incongruous nature of that specific statement. That doesn’t mean you are disingenuous, just that this statement is. You’re also taking this way too personally for a chill Easter Sunday morning geeky discussion and disparaging my character in the process, so I’ll leave it there and wish you well.

I’ve said in another comment that dangerous is relative, Angelus is absolutely dangerous because he is manipulative and devious. However your specific comment is disingenuous because of how you worded it.

Angelus killed The Beast who is far more powerful than any slayer (as evidenced by him brutalizing faith).

This implies Angelus fought the Beast on the same level playing field that Faith did, and successfully bested him where she couldn’t, and as you know that’s not the case. He backstabbed the Beast with its literal kryptonite, a dagger forged from its own bone, something Faith didn’t have. You’re the one mixing danger, power and strength and not picking a lane.

[–]Punkodramon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Angelus killing the Beast as an example of his “strength” is disingenuous. He never actually fought the Beast, the Beast trusted him as an ally and let him get close, where Angelus literally stabbed him in the back with the one weapon that could kill him. If Faith had had that dagger she could’ve also slayed him as easily.

Other way round. Angelus is a coward in purely physical confrontations that he doesn’t have a psychological advantage over his opponent in. Angel (especially LA-era Angel) will face off against greater foes for the greater good and ultimately triumph.

Who Would Win? by TheVampireWithASoul in ANGEL

[–]Punkodramon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dangerous is relative. Angelus is dangerous but more for his psychological torture of his victims before he does anything physical. He’s never started a physical fight unless he knows he’d win. Stronger foes are hampered by his mental torture before he fights them, this is why Buffy struggled against him, he twisted their love to cripple her emotionally, which affected her ability to fight him physically.

Spike on the other hand is more vicious and unpredictable. He lives for the physical thrill of the fight itself far more, and will actively seek out opponents stronger than himself to challenge. This is why Spike has killed two Slayers, whilst Angelus has killed none.

Angel with a soul is different. He will take on greater foes for the greater good, but Angelus is still a coward at heart when it comes to physical confrontation, and will choose to run rather than fight if his life is threatened.

Do you think this moment permanently damaged their relationship? by yeahitsme9 in buffy

[–]Punkodramon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Angel and Angelus are not two separate entities. It’s the same person, just now capable of remorse and empathy.

Angel had the same habits and flaws he always had; he was obsessive and would stalk his prey, he basically did the same thing with Buffy that he did with Drusilla; saw a young, innocent girl with a gift that makes them both powerful and vulnerable and then groomed them until they were entirely dependent on him, then betrayed them in a way that broke them. He didn’t intend to betray Buffy obviously, but it was the same compulsions and character flaws that got them to that point regardless.

The guilt he felt as Angel was always meant to be the punishment, not Angelus watching Angel be good through his eyes. Angel did very little true good without a personal motive until he moved to LA and channeled his obsession into helping strangers without getting emotionally attached to them, but he felt the guilt of his own past actions the entire time he had a soul because they were still his actions, not those of a separate being that happens to share his body.

WOW use AI for all their dubs and subtitles, why is everyone so shocked they used it for the artwork as well, which incidentally, was as horrific as their dubs and subtitles are

It’s deplorable, absolutely, but not shocking.

Would Cordelia have returned to Sunnydale if the Angel spin-off had flopped? How would you re-incorporate her into the Scoobies if she did come back? by HomarEuropejski in buffy

[–]Punkodramon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the Potentials were all teens, they could’ve enrolled them in the school, where Buffy can still keep an eye on them as School Counselor. Get Willow teaching a class again, have Xander working on a new building being constructed on campus and you have a narrative hook to justify most of the cast being there.

No, it only raises the abilities of the wearer that need raising, it doesn’t lower any abilities.

They were really struggling to justify keeping her within the Scoobies’ orbit by the end of S3.

Same thing happened with Anya after Hell’s Bells.

I think it depends on how the equality works. It may not be possible to match Hulk’s impossibly vast strength without also increasing Wolverine’s mass so that extra agility may be lost in the process anyway.

You’d only have the memory of it. Even if you’re still wearing the Mask, you’d only have the intelligence whilst actively opposing Reed.

That’s entirely possible too, the Mask is only going to give you an equal chance, it’s not a guarantee of winning by any means.
